Hi EddieM, Thank you for giving a 5-star rating for the excellent highs and mids of this speaker. And we're sorry to hear that the bass level did not live up to your expectations. The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet. Hope this helps!

Actual performance time may vary to the volume, songs played, surrounding temperature, and usage conditions. While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power. We suggest to connect the speaker to an AC outlet. As long as the speaker is connected to an AC outlet by the supplied AC power cord (mains lead), the speaker's built-in battery is capable of charging itself even while the speaker is turned on.
