Awesome speaker

I decided to go with the sony brand for the party mode option I will be buying more speakers from them. I was unsure if i wanted the 500 or the 700. I was able to hear the 500 at the store and was impressed then there was a sale on the 700 so I got that. The 900 wasn’t water or dust resistant so I didn’t want that. I wasn’t really expecting it to be as big or as heavy as it is but that definitely helps put the sound out.

Excellent Sony speaker!

We ultimately decided on this one and we couldnt be happier. Its got crisp sound and is loud. The bass boost feature is nice and we enjoy that its easily connected to bluetooth and the battery life is long!!! Highly recommend!

Disappointing showing from Sony

The sound is eh, at best. On low volumes in a small space it sounds pretty great, turn it up and the bass is flat, and the highs are overpowering. I’m disappointed with this purchase, as I have had better luck with other Sony products. A positive is the Music Center app which is useful for the device. If this purchase was $200-$250, it would be closer to 4-5 stars, but I paid $300, and I just don’t think the value for the money is there. The Sony 2.1 soundbar I have challenges this device in quality and sound reproduction and a lower price and size (big difference is the soundbar is not battery powered).

-The volume level of the speaker is set to 16.
-The sound effect is set to MEGA BASS. (factory default settings)
-The lighting function is set to off.
We also appreciate your feedback about the weight of the unit. The weight is due to the X-Balanced speaker units, a unique, Sony-developed speaker unit that allows for rich, powerful bass, and higher sound levels while maintaining clarity.
And to get the most out of this speaker. Fine-tuning the SRSXP500 to maximize the volume and adjusting the built EQ using the Music Center app are some the steps that we recommend to ensure optimal listening experience on this speaker. Speaker packs a punch

It is fairly easy to carry with it's practical handle/design. It's not very heavy, and the battery life on it is pretty good! It is my first time experience with purchasing a speaker of this size, and I'm already looking forward to adding another to the family! It is easy to use and a pleasure to use as well!

Good speaker but fell short of expectations

I needed a speaker for a 30 person wedding inside a walled in event tent that would provide adequate sound and a microphone to karaoke. First the sound was high quality. The mega bass function provided loud bass. My issue was it was not loud enough. Multiple people asked if I could turn the volume up and I could not. I recommend going with a more powerful speaker for large functions. Second, the microphone jack was great for plugging up a wireless microphone I bought off Amazon. The audio quality was not the best but I’m unsure whether it was the speaker or the wireless microphone. The Sony app Fiestable & Music Center we’re great for controlling the sound of the microphone and adding effects. Overall good speaker for small inclosed spaces but for my needs of music for a small wedding it fell short.
