The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet. It has plenty of volume and powerful bass. The build is sturdy and splashproof (tested!). While a little pricey, i got it in a good sale. I definitive recommendation to everybody!
