Boom! Powerful !
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As others have said, this is not your normal Bluetooth speaker. While it is great for many of the normal uses and even traveling with it, its BIG. At over 23lbs and over 24 ½ inches tall, it is a force to be reckoned with. Powerful as most of the reviews say doesn’t do it justice. This is one of those great speakers that is perfect to put out on the patio or by the pool for that “full backyard” of sound! Sound quality is amazing. You can control it via the Sony Music Center App. This allows you to control the sound effects, including the Mega Bass, Live Sound or in the custom settings you can select the ClearAudio+ which automatically selects Mega Bass as part of the Sony recommended one setting option for best settings. Power options are also in the settings of the Music Center App. It clearly shows how many hours remain on the current charge, Options for extending battery life as well as a Battery Care Option which only allows up to 90% charge to extend the life of the battery. Lighting on this thing is crazy, they have 10 different options ( including a lights off) to allow you to customize the lighting mode. Really cool options! Also with the lighting and other options is the Sony Fiestable App. It has options like DJ Control, Illumination , Karaoke ( which is a cool option with the Mic). Motion control and a really cool option called Party Playlist which allows your guests on the same wifi to have access to a playlist that they can help add songs too if they have the Fiestable App also installed. I did not try the mic or guitar option yet, I am waiting for a friend that is going to visit soon who is going to help me try those options out. As I said at the beginning, this thing is perfect for the patio or deck of even a large home. You get full sound across the space. We even had it in our cul-de-sac for a neighbor party over the weekend. It was more than enough sound and could have done more! Everyone complemented on it. We also used the onboard USB Charging to charge two phones while we were out there! You can stand it up or even put it on its side, it is IPX4 certified so it will handle small splashes and spills so again, great for the pool or hot tub area. Just ensure you pay attention to the dimensions and weight, it’s not something your going to toss in a backpack and carry with you. It is made to be a party machine!

Very impressed so far
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I downloaded the Sony music app and adjusted the Eq to my liking. This speaker sounds and looks incredible inside or out. Tried it on the patio and the sound and bass traveled well on a 50% volume. It does have a significant increase on volume while plugged in. But it is more than loud enough just running on it's internal battery. I also changed the settings so it optimizes sound quality over battery life. I even changed the settings and increased the bit rate on the Apple music app to get the best possible sound. I am very impressed so far. Used unplugged for 1 1/2 hours on 40 percent volume with lights and mega bass on and battery dropped from 100% to 73%. So I'm guessing this should run for 5-6 hours at a time at 40-50 % volume. Also, the Bluetooth signal traveled at least 20-30 feet from phone to speaker with no problems. Light feature is completely customizable with app.

Quality over Loudness!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, let me start by saying there are not enough stars for me to give this product!!! I'm not sure if it's just me or if anyone else out there looks at reviews of an item they wish to purchase before purchasing it. I always look at the reviews and try to do a thorough research on the internet and read the reviews on YouTube to compare the quality of the products to similar ones that I'm about to purchase. I went into a Best Buy store to listen to this portable Bluetooth speaker and I must tell you if I had the money right then and there that speaker would have found itself a new happy home!!! So on that same night, I did research on this product and made a comparison search on YouTube. The very next day I purchased the item online and the product was ready to be picked up within an hour or two after the online purchase of this product I fully charged it up and listened to it for the first time. I must say that I am impressed with the sound quality that comes out of this portable Bluetooth speaker!!! I truly believe I have gotten my money's worth and on top of that, the speaker was on sale for $100 less than the original price. The loudness of the speaker is not what impresses me, although it does get very loud in my opinion. I'm not into how loud a speaker can get, But the quality of the sound matters to me no matter how loud you turn up the speaker. No vibrations or distortions are coming from the speaker and then on top of all of that, it has the extra bass button which seals the deal for me!!! It truly was the icing on the cake. So far I have been listening to the speaker on battery life for almost 11 hours and it's still playing strong at 48%!!!! Needless to say, I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone who is really into sound quality and base performance!!!

Wonderful loud speaker and bass!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful sound! Bass is awesome with the boost, it’s a little louder plugged in but still works great with just battery powered. Also, you can hook up a microphone and it works well with that.

Best sound system
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let’s just start with this, I listen to a lot of rap and music with bass. Most of the time I can’t turn the volume all the way up. It would simply be too loud and the bass too strong (unless you’re partying obviously). I can’t bring it up to half the max volume in my room but it literally shakes my dorm, very tempted to try maxing the volume to see what would happen. Anyways, the audio quality is beautiful and the bass bumps. It’s great for parties. It’s great for just chilling out and listening to music. However, it is big of course so it takes up a little bit of space and isn’t amazing for portability but honestly I don’t care about any of that. It makes my room shake and it sounds good. I haven’t noticed any issues with battery life, not sure if it’s 25-hours but it lasts quite a while. If you’re looking for a speaker with quality, base, and battery life, and you’ve got the extra dosh to toss… I’d definitely recommend this speaker. Great product 10/10. Note: I have not personally noticed any real issues or downsides to owning this speaker, but again that is *personally*.

Great sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds great but not loud enough for our 22yr old she says when it's plugged to the wall it seems like it gets louder. I like the lights and how they change colors with the beat of the music and its a little heavy in weight but otherwise pretty good but pricey.

Might be overkill but Oh So nice to have
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for a backyard party and it did not disappoint. Extremely long battery life, the lights can be on or off (I prefer them off) and the clarity of the sound leaves no complaints. Even outdoors I never got it over 1/3 volume, and just playing around pushing it past half was very loud and the Bass Booster is in my opinion unnecessary. The bass in normal leaves the ground shaking a little when volume is turned up, Bass Boost while fun tends to drown out the rest of the music. Typical Sony setup, very easy plug and play just life setting up any other bluetooth device. This is now my mainstay for outdoor music and saved me from my original plan of mucking around with getting a dedicated outdoor speaker setup. This is far more flexible and immensely powerful.

Wow I'm really impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a bit on the bigger size for being portable. But wow it's got the cordless sound to back it up. Even with mega bass off it still hits hard. Having the light feature off doesn't make the battery last much longer so it's cool to use it with thw light on to follow the music. Charger is done really quickly as advertised. So no need to worry about topping it up when you need to. What a light show it can do. I wish I could upload the video I took of it.... Remember if you use it near water to insure the ports are all closed .

Big Sound - Great Bass
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony SRS-XP700 portable blue tooth speaker comes in at a nearly 38 pounds and in the upright position, stands nearly 28 inches tall. Does it have a handle so it can be lifted and moved? Surely. Can it run for a phenomenal 25 hours on battery? Absolutely! Would I call it portable? I suppose. But honestly, this thing is a beast and for most people, grabbing it by the handle and moving it around - easily - from location to location isn't going to be fun. With that out of the way, the build quality is ALL Sony. Behind the speaker grille is a solid array of drivers that produce the massive sound field. The protected rear port panel is stout and it's protective cover easily swings down, out of the way. In there you will find the AC power cord port, two USB parts, two quarter inch jack inputs - one strictly for a microphone and another that can be switched from microphone to guitar input - and both jacks with separate, dedicated gain controls. Lastly, there is a audio input 3.5mm mini-jack port, to be used for any auxiliary input you choose - even something as rudimentary as hard wiring a smart phone instead of connecting with blue tooth. Above this access panel are buttons to control three features of the SRS-XP700 if you want immediate access without resorting to the Sony Music Center mobile app; party connect pairing, battery care and lighting. Handy for basic connections but if you're using a phone to source your music or streams, load Music Center - it's a well-designed, mature mobile app and gives you complete control over the speaker. I personally give Sony mobile apps the high possible recommendations because they are simply designed & supported brilliantly. Pairing the XP700 was a breeze and went off without a hitch. The controls on the top of the unit have nicely presented LED indicators, with a soft but not overpowering glow to them. The Sony SRS-XP700 has an IPX4 water resistance rating that should provide plenty of protection for light spills or light rain - but don't plan on leaving this beast outdoors in the element for any length of time... it's not water proof! The sound quality is absolutely no-compromise and I found that the fidelity at moderate to loud playing levels to be just fine without the need to enable Mega Bass. Sound quality is quite subjective and is not only influenced by one’s own personal sense of hearing but also the environment the equipment it located in - but for me - Mega Bass was only needed at lowered volumes levels, for both indoor and outdoor enjoyment. When played more 'loudly', Mega Bass was simply just too BOOMY for my tastes. Your personal preferences may vary. The lighting elements (horizontal bars) are located at the top and bottom of the unit. They are fairly diffused and not over-the-top. But the color theme options are a bit underwhelming and to me – uninspiring. I don't own microphones but I do own an electric guitar - and the input with the guitar plugged in directly was fine, full and clear. I did notice some slight added distortion when using an effects processing box between the guitar and the SRS-XP700, but that's OK. I don't consider this to a replacement for a traditional guitar amplifier - but it does work in pinch. Over all I think the SRS-XP700 is a masterfully crafted blue tooth power-house, that offers a great omni directional sound field and plenty of 'punch' for even really large settings or gatherings. I never felt wanting for more treble, mid-range or bass. No matter if it was more run-of-the-mill MP3 sources, high quality FLAC files and even a multitude of streaming channels ... everything was loud, clear and enjoyable. The battery life is phenomenal considering it's size but I would recommend that you turn the lighting off for anticipated, long playing sessions. And to be quite honest, I'm not a big fan of the lights in general anyhow... but that's just me. Pros: High fidelity, large room filling or large outdoor space sound Well-appointed and positioned ports; more than adequate and with the USB ports - a great way to keep the device supplying the source sound powered at all times That build quality that only Sony can do; understated but stylish The ability to take microphone AND guitar inputs Very capable cordless operation with that humongous, built-in battery rated for up to 25 hours Very simple and straight-forward, moisture protected buttons across the top panel and along the rear for quick manual control Easy pairing and quick connections each and every time Can be laid down if preferred or if your ‘environment’ demands it; but only on one side The Music Center app Notables: Uninspiring lighting It is heavy, so just know that going into it before you buy Cons: None High Recommended

Long Batterie, Huge Sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker with amazing bass and a long battery life? Then this is it look no further. This packs a huge punch deep base and chicks take it lol. You really can't go wrong with this speaker I paired it up with JBL's another ones you ease and this one takes the cake. The fact I like this one more because of the battery and it's portable you don't need to plug it in only when you're charging it. That's cool light features in the front and you can change them to do different things. The only drawback is when the battery gets low the base kind of lags a little bit but that's it just plug it in and you'll get right back onto that huge sound. One other thing is a app that you could get for it lacks a little bit of features but not much I mean the speaker's great so the app doesn't really matter. It's a great speaker for the buy and I'm sure you'll love it just as much as I do.

Posted .Hi Aspire23, Thank you for taking the time sharing this great review! We're delighted to hear you're enjoying the deep bass, long battery life, cool lighting effects, and great sound quality of your XP500 speaker. Please note: The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet.
At Sony, we are always looking to improve our product quality and features. We have noted your input about the Sony music center app and will be sure to forward this feedback to the appropriate department.

Great speaker.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great speaker, big soundstage. It gets so loud I'm usually using it at about 30% volume so it doesn't resonate across my quiet neighborhood. I wish I could lower the bass a bit, that can be a little heavy at times. I heard this over the XG500 speaker in store and I preferred the sound of this. Sounded more richer and balanced, the XG500 was piercing my ear at the highest levels. Battery life seems great, although I don't use it at higher levels.

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall very good party speaker. It delivers big, punchy sound with deep bass and clear vocals, and the lighting effects make it fun for gatherings. The long battery life—often lasting well over a day with moderate use—adds to its appeal, though heavy bass and lights can shorten it a bit.

IMPRESSIVE SONY SPEAKER KICKS BUTT.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am completely impressed with this speaker. The sound is phenomenal and I live in an apartment so I have never been able to crank it up. At low to moderate levels it's clear as a bell and I can hear everything, sounds and nuisances perfectly. I am very happy with my purchase and I would recommend this Sony speaker to everyone and anyone in the market for a great system. I am looking forward to buying another one to create a stereo effect. One thing that might make this a difficult choice is the weight. It weighs twenty five pounds which makes it a little hard to carry around. It's portable with a twenty hour battery so if you can handle the weight you can take it anywhere that your strong enough to. Other than that it is a great purchase and you get what you pay for. Good price for this speaker as well. The last thing that I will tell you is after easy setup just sit back and enjoy it.
