It is true that the maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. To get the most out of the volume, turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.

The SRSXG500 is loud, but is really intended for a smaller than gym area. It is also more focused on good sound quality. Please remember you can pair up to 100 of them to get more loud volume. Hi georget, We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your SRSXP500. We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
1. Turn off the speaker.
2. Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.
