Hi Garbage, We're sorry to hear about the audio cut off issue you're having. This is usually not the case for our Bluetooth speaker nor the experience we want you to have. Please set the BLUETOOTH audio streaming playback quality (Codec) to “Priority on sound connection” to provide you with more stable BLUETOOTH audio streaming. Also, please make sure to place the speaker and the BLUETOOTH device within 1 m (3.2 ft) of each other.

Hi Maddie, We regret to hear about the low volume issue you're having. Please note: The volume will become low when the maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet. And to ensure optimal listening experience, please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools like an equalizer to fine-tune your speaker and maximize the volume to your liking. Even though it looks stylish, the speaker was a total failure for what we needed it for. The speaker sounds decent in a small room, but once in a bigger room, it doesnt perform. Sound is muffled and as far as power wattage, not enough to get the job done. Had to return and purchase a bigger Sony product.

      Hi Matthew,

We are sorry to hear that your Sony Bluetooth party speaker stopped working. We do not recommend placing or leaving this speaker in a place subject to high temperatures, such as under direct sunlight, near a heat source, inside a vehicle with the windows closed (especially in summertime). Refer to this link for more details: https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/srs-xp500/v1/en/contents/TP1000243099.html. You can still isolate this issue by following these steps:

      - Make sure that the AC power cord (mains lead) is connected securely to the speaker and the AC power cord (mains lead) is connected securely to an AC outlet. You can unplug the cord and plug it back again.

-It is possible that the rechargeable built-in battery is empty or running low. Try to charge it first before turning on. Charging will complete in about 3 hours and the indicator will turn off.

Feel free to test the unit again and verify if it resolves the issue. Should you need further assistance, you can email us at socialsupport@am.sony.com with the following details:

      Posted .

      Hi NealH,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your concerns. Sony does not publish wattage and there is a reason why. For Bluetooth speakers, the wattage and RMS numbers are not as important as they are for an AV receiver. This is because a Bluetooth speaker is designed to be a self-contained unit, with the amplifier, speakers, and other components all built-in together. This means that the manufacturer has optimized the design for the specific components they've chosen, so you can't easily compare the wattage or RMS numbers across different models.

We're also sorry if you find the audio quality, especially the bass sound not as great as you would liked and the speaker doesn't get very loud. We do have good information and guidelines below to get the most out of the volume and ensure optimal performance with the speaker

      • The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet.
      • If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure from the link below.
      https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/srs-xp500/v1/en/contents/TP1000243112.html
      • By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

      Hi KelseyP,

We're sorry to hear this issue. We appreciate your feedback regarding the life span of the built-in battery of the speaker. The life span of the rechargeable built-in battery differs depending on the usage, environment, and storage method. The XP500 has plenty of battery life. Up to 20 hours (Measured value acquired by playing our specified music source with the volume level of the unit set to 16, the sound mode set to MEGA BASS, and the lighting function turned off) of battery life with quick charging. Just 10 minutes of charging provides up to 80 mins of playback.

As with any battery operated speaker, actual performance time may vary from the listed time due to the volume, songs played, surrounding temperature, and usage conditions. For more information about the life span of the built-in lithium ion battery of the unit, please check these help guide links:

Hi Jvee, While we are glad to hear that you are happy with your SRSXP700 upgrade, we are sorry to hear that the XP500 did not meet all of your expectations. The XP700 is built for a venue-filling sound. With Omnidirectional Party Sound provided by the X-Balanced Speaker Unit and the front and rear high-efficiency tweeter, it sends out rich, clear sound in all directions. It’s perfect for parties, inside or outside the home, and has plenty of battery life, is IPX4 Splash resistant and has an easy-to-use handle for moving from one party to the next. You can also optimize audio settings, control music, choose lighting patterns and manage your devices right from your phone using the Sony | Music Center and You can also access fun features like making party playlists, karaoke, and so much more with the Fiestable app. Thank you for choosing Sony! -Carl Sony_US
