Hi Riverman,

We are so sorry that you have received your speaker with no manuals or cables. This unit comes with an AC power cord (mains lead) and operating instructions. However, an audio cable with a stereo mini plug at both ends is sold separately. Manuals are also posted on your model support page. Instruction manuals and user guides are available for most Sony products.

We do have good information and guidelines below to get the most out of the volume and ensure optimal performance with the speaker

• The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet.
• If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure from the link below.

• By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

For the bass sound quality, this usually differs from the source device's signal and content that you are playing. To isolate the problem, we suggest you adjust the equalizer setting of the speaker to your preference or switch its sound effect to MEGA BASS mode.
