I give it 3/5 stars bc although its categorized as a portable speaker, its extremely low in my opinion. Id say my ue megaboom 3 is a little bit louder and this sony is about 5 times bigger. ~ It comes with a charger which converts the speaker into a plug-in speaker. once you plug it in, the volume at 100 on portable mode becomes 30x louder when plugged in. Was very satisfied with the volume while the speaker was plugged in but I was initially looking for a portable speaker to use outdoors. Definitely not worth the price or volume if you’re looking for a portable speaker

The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet and turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.

I like how it’s made to stand up or lay down. It has 4 mids, but only 2 play at a time, depending on the orientation. I like how you can turn the lights on or off. I’ve been trying to let the battery die, but it hasn’t yet. I only play it for about 30 each time, and have played it about 5 or 6 times total.
