Thank you for your time writing this review. We're glad you like the XP500 wireless speaker. The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet.
Turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.
Check that the connected device is playing.

Although this unit does not come with a remote control, you can connect your smartphone to this unit via Bluetooth and use it to control the music playback,adjust the volume, and you can also download the Fiestable app to control the lighting and turn it on/off. You can also use motion control gestures on your smartphone screen.
