This does not have lots of low or heavy bass so I'm not satisfied with this new Sony model because if that. Note to Sony: Please design/build/program the your next model to have very good low bass and deeper like JBL did with the Partybox line.

YES it has amazing features and battery life- but I had the volume up to the MAX in my bedroom and it wasn’t loud enough for me. I personally prefer something louder, without all the extras I do t really know how to operate anyway (ex: the DJ option on the app)

Big Speaker, Bigger Sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I did not realize that this speaker was going to be this large in size but, I am not disappointed at all. I can keep it upright in a corner or somewhere else unobtrusive, or put it on its side in order to make it fit somewhere else out of the way. Most of my experience to this point has been outside in my backyard so it really hasn’t mattered. During a gathering we had with several children and adults, we could definitely hear the music from the speaker and when someone (young ones) turned it up, it was enough to disturb a conversation and had to be put back down a bit. Everyone likes the lights on the front and using the Music Center App, there are several options to turn them on, change colors or turn them completely off if you prefer. The other app that you can use with it is called Fiestable. I haven’t had much time with that one but it gives you additional options with using the microphone and doing Karaoke, mixing your music like a DJ, etc. The sound from this speaker is top-notch. Sony has several products or varying sizes from handhelds medium and large like this one. They have done a great job with this one. The out of the box “ClearAudio+” setting is great but you can also adjust the equalizer manually if you prefer. The tones are really crisp and the bass is deep and without distortion when you want to really crank it up. On the back of the unit, there is a rubber form-fitting cover that hides the ports and controls for when you use a microphone and/or a guitar, two USB ports, auxiliary input, and the power connection. When using it without anything attached and the cover is in place, it is water-resistant which means it can withstand a bit of rain or splashes from the pool. Excellent not to have to worry all the time about your speaker getting wet. The controls on top are easy to use and what you normally see on a speaker these days. It has the power button, Bluetooth, volume, and the play/pause button that is also used to skip or replay a song. The speaker was charged at about 60% out of the box and I was able to use it right away. It lasted about 10 hours I’d estimate and then it told me that the battery needed to be charged. It took about 2 and a ½ hours to get to 90% charge which is how it is configured to help the battery last longer. Essentially, you don’t charge all the way to 100 nor do you go all the way to zero which helps the battery have a longer lifespan. I’m really happy with this speaker. It has great sound and enough flexibility for me and my use. You won’t be disappointed!

Power Portable Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This speaker is the perfect size to be portable enough that you don’t mind taking it with you, but large enough that you can fill a room full of music in a flash. Out of the box, you just plug in a power cable and hold down the bluetooth button and it’s as simple as that. The sound is great! You get punchy bass, vocals come through loud and clear, which is one of my biggest pet peeve with speakers that tout big bass but have muddled everything else. Controls are easy and intuitive. The buttons on the top have a tactile feedback, feels like quality, and looks to be durable. On the back behind the rubberized cover, you get two USB ports, microphone and guitar hookups, audio in aux port, power connection port, and 3 buttons to party connect, turn on or off lights, and a battery care button that keeps the battery in top shape. There’s a place to store the power cable so you can pick up and carry it out in one go without having to search for clutter. You get tons of options when using the Sony Music app. I’m won’t go through all of them but custom EQ for Bass, Middles, and Treble is a nice addition, although I would have liked an expanded EQ. There’s also plenty of presets which will be good enough for most. You can also change power options. You can adjust bluetooth to prioritize quality or connection. And you can adjust how the lights on the speaker illuminate. One of the neater features, which deserve it’s own paragraph is an isolator and flanger options. Through the Fiesta app you can use your finger on your smart phone to control the isolator and flanger to emphasize parts of the song. I’m sure someone with with DJ experience would be able to do it justice, but I had a lot of fun with it with different songs. If you have multiple speakers you can also use party mode to connect, according to the website, up to 100 compatible speakers. With how portable these speakers are, I can see how easily and how quickly someone can set up surround audio very quickly and get amazing sound in a pinch. If you want a poolside speaker it’s also IPX4 rated so you won’t have to worry too much about splashes or a surprise rain shower. I love this speaker. I continuously move it from my house to my garage when I don’t feel like wearing headphones. It was also super easy to toss in my trunk and take to a cook out where having ambient music enhanced the mood. With 20 hours of charge, even if there’s no where to plug it in, you can be sure the party will continue on.
