Very clear audio and good base for what it is. Definitely keep it plugged up when using if possible as it is a good bit louder when you do.

That's part of the normal operation of the speaker since the speaker is capable of running on power either from an AC outlet connected by the supplied AC power cord. The only thing stopping it for a 5 is that in an open area like at a baseball game it is not loud. If you plug it into an outlet it gets louder but compared to other speakers it’s not that loud enough.

The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. If the sound is low, please check the following:
Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet.
Turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.
Check that the connected device is playing.

I purchased it on sale and it was worth it for the sale price. My only wish is if it was a little louder for those larger parties. Other larger speaker options may be your best bet if you like to play music really loud.

Good, but not the XV-500

I own two XV-800 which has far more features including echo control. I purchased this thinking it would’ve been the same, but got the incorrect model. I should’ve done my homework and got the XV-500.

needs higher Volume

When you plug it in its pretty loud but running on the battery if is definitely a lot lower. It works well with Bluetooth, but I have another speaker, different SONY model speaker that I can't connect it too. I like the speaker lot but if you are trying to connect to other speakers, make sure it is compatible

To ensure optimal listening experience, please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools like an equalizer to fine-tune your SRSXP500 and maximize the volume to your liking.
With regards to connecting to other Sony speaker, below are the only devices compatible with the Party Connect function:
SRS-XB43, SRS-XB33, SRS-XB23, SRS-XG500, SRS-XP500, SRS-XP700
Note: You can connect multiple devices wirelessly (up to 100 devices) compatible with the Party Connect function.
