If you use the speaker connected to the Music Center app, turn off the Equalizer or Surround (VPT) settings on the app and check to see if the issue is resolved. The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet and turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.
