-Turn off both your speaker and your phone/tablet, then turn them back on and reconnect.

-Initialize the speaker: While the speaker is turned on, touch and hold (play) and MEGA BASS on the speaker until the speaker turns off (5 seconds or more).

We're sorry to hear that the XV500 X-Series wasn't delivering the volume you expected for your outdoor gatherings, as sound dispersion outside can definitely make speakers sound quieter. To maximize the loudness for open spaces, please ensure the speaker is plugged into an AC outlet, as running on battery can sometimes limit the maximum power output. Also, make sure the MEGA BASS function is active, and try using the 'LIVE SOUND' effect, which is designed to expand the sound stage. If you still feel the output is too low, using the Party Connect feature to link it with another compatible Sony speaker can provide a significant boost in volume.

We're so happy to hear you are enjoying the rich, clear sound of the speaker. We value your input regarding the low volume output while in use. The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction.

- The rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly while the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery.
- The ambient temperature of the speaker is high.

The maximum power output will be lower when the built-in battery is running low. If the sound becomes low while in use, turn off the speaker then charge the built-in battery sufficiently. Thank you for choosing Sony! -Jess
