Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the exceptional sound quality, impressive battery life, and strong bass response of the XV500 X-Series Wireless Party Speaker. Many appreciate its portability despite its size and the convenient handles, along with the added features of water resistance and a synchronized light show. Some find the speaker's weight to be a drawback, impacting its ease of relocation. Overall, the positive feedback on audio performance and additional features outweighs the concerns about weight.

      Hi PamelaP,

Thanks for sharing this honest review. We appreciate your feedback if you find the speaker doesn't get very loud while running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery or when used outdoors. The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet. Also, while the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.

If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
      1. Turn off the speaker.
      2. Charge the built-in battery sufficiently

The XV500 is a speaker that's built to help fun-loving people make the most of their life. Whether you're relaxing in your living room or partying in your garden, the XV500 will give you a superb sound and plenty of fun features. All you have to do is choose the music. Hi MichaelM,

We're sorry to hear the sound quality and volume didn’t quite meet your expectations at the birthday party. This speaker is designed for portability and decent sound in smaller to medium spaces, but for a larger hall, it might not pack the punch you were hoping for.

For the sound quality, we recommend using the Sony Music Center app to adjust the equalizer settings to your preference. This can significantly enhance your listening experience.

This doesn’t get loud at all, it’s equivalent to a small stereo. Total waste of 400.00. Returning soon as the store opens tomorrow. It also has horrible sound and is extremely bass heavy, Sony can do better, I’m expecting this to be on par due to the party stamp with an old 2-12 plus tweeter 100 watt system that I have on my garage, it’s maybe 30% of that.

The first thing you will notice when you get this speaker is how large and heavy it is. It's literally like car battery heavy. Great I thought, that means it should play for a really long time.... Not so much... I took it to work with me and played it for about 5 hours each night for 2 nights and on the 3rd day when I fired it up I got a pleasing sounding notice that the battery was low... so about 12 hours of solid playback at 3/4 volume level. Everyone at work was really impressed when they first saw the speaker, and they had the same reaction I did.... Wow, that's really big, followed by, "Is that as loud as it goes?" "Turn it up" "will it go any louder?" which is pretty dissapointing considering how big and heavy it is... it just doesn't play very loudly without starting to distort. It sounds pretty decent at half volume to maybe about 3/4 volume but the bass distorts. At low volume it sounds really good especially with the bass boost turned on, which is where I perfer to listen to it at.. maybe 1/3rd of the way up, to about half way bass boost on. When used like that it's a pleasing blue tooth speaker to listen too but nothing outstanding. I played some Hi-Fi recorded songs from Steely Dan, Daft Punk, Moby, Fat Boy Slim, and while they didn't sound bad, they sounded basically flat and one dimensional, while missing the sparkle and sizzle the same songs impart when played on higher quality systems. On the other hand, Tone Loc, Run DMC, and Pandora set to the 80's channel sounded clean and clear and very enjoyable to listen to. The speaker initially charged up in about 3 hours, but after running it low on battery it took several hours to charge. The fit, finish, and overall quality of the speaker is top notch, and the light show is enjoyable to watch and appears to mimic the beat of the music pretty well. The speaker has inputs for a guitar, and for a Karaoke microphone, so it's usability can be expanded past just a large blue tooth speaker as well. Overall though for my useage it just doesn't play loud enough cleanly for how large and heavy it is. Inside a house its a decent loud blue tooth speaker with solid bass, but outside it's not loud enough, the bass distorts, and you would need a few of these all playing at the same time to be loud enough to use at a party IMO...

Sony Wireless Party Speaker SRS-XV500 The party speaker came very well packaged. You get the speaker, power cord, and instruction manual. The Sony party speaker is a good size. 22 1/2” tall 11” deep and 10 1/2” wide. Has Bluetooth, audio in, USB, Light, Mega Bass, volume + and -, and a play pause button besides a power button. All are soft touch but the power button. On the back you have a USB port, Battery care button, key control, 2 mic or 1mic and 1 guitar ports with volume controls and echo button. I plugged it in, powered the speaker up, paired my iPhone to the speaker and was blown away by the sound quality. I played a bunch of types of music and was just wowed on how much Bass and great sound quality the speaker produced. I downloaded the two apps, “Music Center” and “Fiestable”. Music center is an app you can adjust sound, power options, Illumination, system, and manage Bluetooth connective devices. Fiestable app you can have DJ control, Illumination, karaoke, motion control, party light, Taiko game Ranking, voice control. I plugged in a 18 dollar mic and opened up the Fiestable app then chose Karaoke. You play your music from Apple Music, Amazon Music, and google music. Then turn up the mic volume (back side of the speaker) and start singing Karaoke. From the Fiestable app in Karaoke section you can control the pitch of your voice , the speed/pitch of the song, echo/reverb of you singing, and lower or eliminate the singing voice of the song your playing (not yours). All I can say is we had so much fun singing to every song we played and there is a ranking button that ranks your singing. WOW this speaker is a blast and best of all it’s battery powered and claims over 20 hours on battery. The lights were flashing to the song (you can change lighting effects) I ordered a second mic to do duets that’s how much fun this speaker is and the sound quality again is just outstanding.

I rated this speaker 5 stars because it meets what i want in a speaker. Great battery life. Water resistants for outdoor use. Good amount of bass. Crystal clear sound quality. One thing i will say is that, this speaker is more for for sound quality, i see alot of reviews comparing it to the JBL brand of speaker, yes JBL is great if you want strong bass, but this speaker is a lot better for all around sound quality, a balance.

While this is a great bluetooth speaker for parties, it certainly seems to be lacking in various ways that they are advertising. PROs - The sound quality when streaming music is excellent. This definitely has enough power for outdoor gatherings. The lighting effects will also add to the party atmosphere, and if you have a color-theme to the party, you can control the range of lighting through the "fiestable" app. Being water-resistant is also a nice touch should your outdoor festivities be drizzled upon. CONs - While this is meant for outdoor parties and being able to make announcements during parties, there are various ways in which this is lacking. In my opinion, it comes in far below what they advertise. Here's a list: Battery - while they say up to 25 hours, I have to imagine that means with bluetooth turned off, running a wire from your device to play the music directly at very low volume with the lights turned off. In my testing with only low volume indoor play through bluetooth with the lights on, I get about 12-14 hours. I imagine at higher volumes, you're only going to get 8 hours or so. Set-up - I would imagine that setting up an outdoor party would likely mean putting this on a speaker-stand, but it does not have a simple indentation on the bottom of the speaker to allow this to happen. Further exemplifying the lack of consideration on the set-up, all of the controls are on the top of the device. If you set this up on the floor you can see the controls, but the audio is blasting at the guests' legs. Set it up on a table and you'll have some height to it, but you cannot see the controls. Connections - They advertise being able to connect a microphone and guitar to play out, but the sound quality through the line-in for the guitar is terrible. It is completely hollow and tinny sounding, losing all of the low-end EQ of the instrument no matter how you adjust any EQ going in. They also say you can connect a microphone, but what they should specify is you can only connect a low-grade microphone unless you get an adapter. Microphones use an XLR cable with three prongs, while this only has a 1/4" input like you would use for a guitar or bass. I don't have a crappy microphone, so I cannot test the sound, but if you're using this to play music in public, hopefully you're beyond using a poor microphone. Volume control - You can set it and forget it, but hopefully you won't have to change apps or stop the music and restart at any time. When I do this, the volume comes back randomly at very low or very high levels. I've started a podcast and been blasted out of the room by the volume, or started music and not been able to hear it when it starts. There is some manner of internal volume control which seems to set randomly whenever you start audio. You can adjust this with the + and - signs on top of the device when you start up as this volume control seems to be entirely independent from the volume of the source (not usually the case when connected by bluetooth). Voice Announcements - When you do have this playing, you will start to get "low battery" announcements when you reach only 40% power remaining. Really??? If you're using this at a party, you're going to get audible reminders to charge while you still have almost half-battery? That, or they blatantly mis-state the battery level in the app. This may be good for some people, but generally I'd recommend going with another brand that knows what they are doing with live audio.

Read good reviews, Sony fan, bought it especially for outdoor use, picked up at store. First impression was great, easy connect via app, solid sound. Charged overnight for next day party. After 30min, it disconnected, had to reset phone and reconnect again. Then after 5 hrs the battery was dead, nothing works and had to plug in. Not sure how Sony measures the 20-25hrs play time??? Sound is NOT loud. At 100% volume (speaker, phone, app) you can easily communicate standing 10ft from speaker. My old and MUCH cheaper speaker is really loud and annoying at 75% volume. Utter disappointment and returning this speaker. Will give JBL a try.

      Hi Shah,

We're glad that you like the sound quality and user-friendly functions of the speaker. It's unfortunate that you are not satisfied with its connectivity, battery life, and overall volume.

For optimum performance, make sure to install the latest software version of the speaker (via the Sony Music Center app). Please refer to this link:

      https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/7855/v1/en/contents/TP1001275067.html

While the “Priority on Sound Quality” preference is selected for the BLUETOOTH connection quality, signal reception on the speaker may fluctuate depending on the combination of the setup on your BLUETOOTH device and the ambient conditions. In such a case, the following may help for solving the issue:

-Move the speaker away from a device such as a microwave oven and a wireless LAN access point.

-There are some BLUETOOTH devices that can have the BLUETOOTH connection quality changed. If your device is compatible with this function, select “Priority on Stable Connection (SBC)” for the BLUETOOTH connection quality. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the device.

-Select “Priority on Stable Connection (SBC)” for the BLUETOOTH connection quality of the speaker.

For more information, please refer to this link:
      https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/7855/v1/en/contents/TP1001275049.html

The overall volume may vary depending on the source content. Turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device. Make sure to charge the built-in battery sufficiently. The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction:

-The rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly while the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery.

Missing Powet Cord for Sony XV500

I bought the Sony XV-500 on 4/5/25 at the Atlantic Avenue store in Brooklyn? NY. and it was missing the powet cord when I opened the box. I called customer service and they told me to bring it back. I asked if they can just give me a power cord and they told me no, this wireless speaker is kind of big so i paid $30 for and ubet, it will cost me an extra $60 to bring this device to the store and bring another device home. I am very unsatified and annoyed with the service i received at the Atlantic Avenue Best Buy in Brooklyn, New York. I will never shop there again. All they have to do is provide me with a powercord intead of inconveniencing me to travel back to the store and pay uber again to carry this heavy wireless speaker. Very terrible service. I wont recommend t hi s store to anybody.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
