I purchased this speaker for our various outdoor activities and more importantly for using it during our sports practices football and baseball to have some music. Overall, i am disappointed in the sound output of this machine based on its size and comparing it to its competitors in the same size range. The sound output is not as loud as I was hoping for and the bass output is more of a mid bass and not a low bass that you get from other products. From a price standpoint I was ok with the purchase and the connectivity of bluetooth does not give me any issues, especially when I in the middle of the field and this speaker is off on the sidelines. I would have given this speaker a 5 star rating if the output of sound and bass was more in line with its competition. I am pleased with it and will continue to use it. Recommending this is a yes if you are looking for something that is going to give you good sound quality and you do not want something that would be obnoxiously to loud.

To help you get the best experience with your SRSXV500, we recommend optimizing your sound profile using the Music Center app:
- Open the App: Connect your speaker and select it within the Music Center app.
- Navigate to Settings: Go to Settings > Sound > Audio Customization.
- Adjust the Custom EQ: Use the 3-band equalizer (Bass/Mid/Treble) or detailed sliders.
- For more bass: Slide the "Bass" or lowest frequency bars to the maximum.
- For outdoor sound “throw”: Slightly increase the "Mid" and "Treble" to help sound carry further in open spaces.
- Toggle MEGA BASS: Make sure MEGA BASS mode is active to boost low-end frequencies, especially useful in wide-open areas like a football field.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This speaker is best used in conjunction with the Sony Music Center app because you can select predefined sound styles (rock, country) or your own custom sound via the app. It plays loud but clear. I also own a XP-700 and that has more bass and plays louder, but is heavier thus not a portable. Sony makes good solid quality products for sure. Unfortunately, neither speaker retains the sound profile selected after being turned off, so the sound profile needs to be applied each time you connect, which is an annoyance you should be aware of. Without the app, the only external sound modification is to engage the Mega Bass feature via a button on top of the unit. The speaker does tend to sound flat without the sound profile enhancement via the app (on your phone). So, that is something to consider. That has not prevented me from purchasing both of these speakers, but it may influence your decision.

Awesome return policy from best buy where if you dont like the sound or if they dont pair well together with other ones you can try out a different one. Ended up taking this on a hike 5+ miles and wasnt that bad lugging it around as it is probably less than 50 lbs.
