This party speaker is great! Sound is nice. Have individual fun. Small fun. And party fun. It will get the job done! This comes with the actual speaker (of course), a couple of paper documentations for some of the quick setup purposes (setup for some of the speaker's uses), a power/charging cord and an optical cable. There other things you can do with the party speaker for which you would need to have/purchase your own extras (i.e., audio cable, microphone). It's a very nice looking speaker. It's an extremely heavy speaker. Wheels - so the wheels are ok and also a bit of a nuisance. There are just two wheels, in the back. I was happy about the wheels, but they really only do anything if you are on a flat surface. If you are indoors and you pull it on carpet and expect it to roll. It doesn't. It more just drags and does what it wants. On a flat surface you are good. So if indoors, it will wheel fine on non carpet. And if you are outside, again, you are good to go on flat surfaces. I was honestly excited about the wheels, so that is a letdown. Handles - there is a small handle on the top back for wheeling. In the front you can use the handles on the top and bottom as needed. This thing is heavy so when I need to lift it to move it, I use the two front handle and hold it horizontal. Speakers - it has speakers on the front, subwoofer and two back-facing speakers on the top-back. It puts out great sound. Period. You can hear the words to your songs and you can hear the bass. All the aforementioned perform very well. Lights - it can emit colored lights on the top and bottom of the speaker (no lights in the middle). The lights can hit with the beats of your music. I love the lights. Functions (on the top) - the top of the unit allows you to switch functions and such. You have the Power button (for on/off of the speaker). The row above that is the play/pause button (it does just that). You can also use the play/pause button to skip forward to a next song(s) or go back to the beginning of current song or previous song(s). Next two buttons are the minus and plus, which are for volume. The last button on the 2nd row is for Mega Bass (self explanatory!!). Mega Bass should honestly be used at all times ;-). The third row of buttons are Bluetooth connection, then optical in connection (this is for connecting to a TV with an optical cable that comes with the unit), audio in (for connecting to a laptop or a different type of device that can play but using an audio cable that does not come with the unit), usb (for if you are using a usb flash drive to play your tunes. All the things I just mentioned on the 3rd row have to do with different functions. The last button on the 3rd row is the Light button for turning the light (that emits on the top and bottom) on and off. I should state that all the things mentioned on the top of this unit are not actual buttons, except the power button. They are there and you press it, but there is no button. Between the 3 rows of buttons and the back handle is a slot where you are supposed to be able to sit your mobile type device. I put my iPod (yes, I still rock an iPod) and or my galaxy phone in there. The back - there is a cover for the little area to access more things. The cover is connected so you can just flip it off and it hangs on. When you are done with the back, just put the hanging cover back on it. There is a battery checker, guitar connection, old school usb port, power cord port, optical cable port, audio cable port, can connect a mic. There is a lot going on back there. Now, you can connect via Bluetooth if you just want a quick connection to hear your music. But the Sony Music Center is highly suggested, as you can do more things in that app -- such as connecting via the various functions, connecting to your TV for using this as an extra speaker (be sure to put your TV's sound setting on PCM, as the documentation states this), connecting to the same speaker (if you have a second one), connecting to other compatible Sony speakers for party speaker mode, updating the software of this and other Sony speakers that are compatible, connecting to other Sony speakers individually, etc. I had a hard time getting the Party speakers mode to work, meaning the ability to connect to multiple compatible Sony Speakers to increase sound output in the environment in which you are listening/partying. I had to go through it a few time until it finally connected. But, I noticed that this SV800 dominated the sound and the other speaker (which is just like this one) barely played the sound. I had to put my ear up close to ensure sound was actually coming out. I will continue to play with it, but I love the idea. I was able to connect to a TV (it was a Hisense TV) with the optical cable and it actually worked but I will continue to play around with that function. I went into the Sony Music Center to change the function and pushed play on a YT video. Ummm... I wasn't ready for the overload of boom! That was actually crazy, as the sound was not balanced. Again though, cool feature/function. There are various reasons to get this speaker. You love music and want some good sound to fill your space when listening. It gives good bass too (depending on the source of the bass in the music... nothing you can control per se). You want to party. You just want to have a good time. I love music (and love bass) and I definitely recommend this party speaker. I truly love it. Get up on it. Peace.

I really couldn't wait to open the box and try this speaker! As soon as I took the speaker out of the box and turned it on without plugging it in, (which means it's pretty much charged write out the box) equipment connected to the Bluetooth on my phone right away, which I thought was great! I Immediately started playing music from my phone with different bass and treble to see the difference and how is sound it and if anyone saw was distorted! Is unbelievable how clear everything sounded with a nice deep bass on every single song! I love the speakers I have the lights the flash with the music and make you feel like you're in a disco! I also downloaded the Sony app to see if there was any type of EQ that I could use for the speakers. And the app actually does have settings to adjust the sound, but it didn't sound too good to me so I just like to keep it as is. Maybe Sony were at a little more sophisticated Setting in the future. The only problem I found for a person of my height being 6 foot 4 inches tall, is that if I decide I wanted to transport the speaker to another place, I would have to carry it everywhere I went. Even though it has the wheels on the back, it doesn't have an extension for me to pull out and pull it like the other speakers. The speak isn't that heavy though, and as long as it's short distances, it won't really be much of a problem. When I first decided to get this speaker, I thought the price was a little too high, until I got the speaker and listen to it for a few days, and now don't have a problem with the price because the sound is phenomenal! This speaker doesn't have a overpowering base to it, but I'm pretty sure you'll really enjoy the entire sound!

I loved it but I had to return it because it was to loud for my apartment and my neighbors started knocking on the floor so my Wife said it had to go I also bought a Mic and worked Great

This SXS-VX800 is a monster of a speaker. We used it at a graduation party in a rather large yard. It was audible but unobtrusive outdoors, and ran all day on the battery at a fair volume. It projects sound quite far, the bass does fade pretty quickly outdoors as you move away from the speakers, which is to be expected, but still maintains a full sound. The Bluetooth connection is very strong after you pair the speaker, it seems you need to be closer to pair, but once connected I tested it out to about 40’ and had no stuttering or noticeable sound quality degradation. The speaker can be used vertically or horizontally and has a sensor to let it know which orientation it is in, so it will switch from the top mid/tweeter speakers (4 around the top) to the “bottom” speaker when flipped to it’s side. It has a wider, more spacious sound on it’s side, but for outdoors, I would recommend standing it up as you get more Bluetooth range. The speaker is also distinctly louder and more powerful when plugged in rather than running on battery, I estimated an instant 30% increase in bass and volume when I played a song on the battery, then plugged it in while the song was playing. The sound quality goes from loud and good to louder and better  I was not a fan of the TV sound booster feature, it seemed too punchy with the bass fill and added a little bit of sibilance to the dialog- only on some shows- which I could not get rid of fully by changing the TV sound settings. An optical in is still a great feature as it can connect to my Apple Airport Express with the optical connection and does sound really clean and clear. Perhaps my TV has an issue with the optical sound output, but I don’t have the problem with my usual sound bar. I used the speaker with iOS 16 on my iPhone XS, downloaded the Sony Music Center app as well as Fiestable. Sony Music Center asked for access to my Apple Music subscription and I granted it permission. What I found out is that if the music you want to listen to is not downloaded to your phone, the app can not see it. I basically got a huge list of my playlists with zero songs on them. I’ve had a few units that used Sony apps on my phone, and they’ve been slapped together, poorly functioning, cross platform junk long enough that I do have the impression that software is a serious afterthought for Sony audio products. Fiestable is a group of toys for the lights, motion control of the speaker and a few other functions like being able to use your phone or tablet to augment the lighting on the speakers’ lights by flashing matching colors on the screen. When I set up at the party, honestly, the interest in messing with the Sony Music Center or the Fiestable app by other folks there was pretty low. Folks would just fire up their preferred music app and play directly from the app via Bluetooth. Physically, this speaker is almost 45 lbs, I can imagine it’s a lot of battery in there, and one of the coolest features on the speaker is the battery care function, which optimizes charging to maximize the lifespan of the battery, much like modern laptops and phones will do, so I have no qualms about leaving the speaker plugged in and charging without worrying about wearing down the battery. Even though it’s not cheap, this is a great speaker if you have the use for it. The software needs a lot of work, but this is a definite recommend!

I love this speaker so much that I went and purchases a second one. I like this more than the JBL Party box. I can connect the two speakers together with party connect.
