Customers are saying
Customers highly value the XV800 X-Series Bluetooth Portable Party Speaker for its exceptional sound quality and long battery life. Many appreciate the thumping bass and powerful volume it delivers, along with its portability and reliable Bluetooth connectivity. While some find it a bit heavy and consider the wheels not very useful, the speaker's overall performance and features, such as the fun lights and water resistance, make it a popular choice.

Not as good as I thought
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice system if you just want to play music loud. But if you want good sound not impressive. The bass even with extra bass enable there is not much. I have Sony older model and the bass resonance is much better. Disappointed with this unit.

Posted .Hi Bestcam, we're glad you like our product. We understand your feedback regarding the bass of your Sony unit. If the MEGA BASS effect is not sufficient, you can adjust the equalizer settings to your preference for more dynamic sound. In the "Sony | Music Center" app, go to [SRS-XV800] - [Settings] - [Sound], tap [Sound Effect] - [CUSTOM], and then adjust the Custom EQ settings. Please check this link for more details:

Party In A Box!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Sony XV800 Bluetooth Party Speakers is my first experience with a large portable, party speaker. When it arrived my first impression was that it was pretty heavy. Fortunately, Sony had the foresight to put wheels on it. So I wheeled it into my living room and plugged it in to charge the battery up. While it was charging my curiosity got the better of me and I turned it on. Immediately I was met with lights above and below the speaker indicating to me this was designed with a very specific intent.... to PARTY! The lights aren't so bright as to be brash or light up a room, but if you turn off the lights in your room or use it at night outdoors it certainly makes a statement. Next, I paired the speaker to my iPhone and began pumping some music into the speaker. Let me just state this, it isn't going to win sound quality of the year in Stereophile magazine, but it is clear and can play extraordinarily loud for something battery powered. It has great bass and solid highs, but the midrange does suffer with MegaBass turned on. When I switched it off the thumping in my chest became more subtle, but vocals were able to better escape. The sound just seemed more balanced with MegaBass off. This speaker puts out a wall of sound so large that you can easily throw a rave in the front yard, back yard, garage, or just about anywhere you want save an empty warehouse.... you might need two then. I played electronic, hip-hop, and heavy metal through it all with great results. When I took it outside and cranked it up I was sure my neighbors were going to call the police. Yeah, it can play LOUD. It also has a mic input and guitar input as well so you can take the party to the next level if you desire. I'm not much for karaoke myself, but the feature is there. The Music Connect app is Sony's gateway to music playback, but I preferred using the Apple Music app myself. The companion app Fiestable attempts to be the jack of all trades. The Fiestable app allows one to dive further into the lighting, karaoke, and voice controls. It can definitely turn the speaker and you by extension into a Bluetooth DJ. The battery life seems great. Sony rates the speaker to 25 hours, but I haven't been able to verify that. All I can say is that I charged it once when it arrived and I haven't charged it again since. The only real drawback I have with the speaker is the lack of weatherproofing. I would like to place this speaker on my back patio and not drag it in after each use. I know Sony's smaller speakers offer this and maybe this speaker is too large to do cost effectively. The simply facts are if you are looking to take a party on the road or just have a backyard BBQ with some tunes Sony has done a fantastic job with the XV800.

Big Big Cordless Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When ordering this Sony device I somehow missed how large and heavy it is. This is a boom box on steroids. Steroids that make something really big and really heavy. I thought the Fedex guy was going to collapse getting the box to my front porch. The XV800 comes with a pictures-only setup poster and a power cord. It charged up in a couple hours and was ready for it's untethered workout after pairing it with my phone. You can use it with the lights enabled or turn them off. The Mega Bass option is there also, and I found that to be a great feature. Big deep bass. There are speakers facing various directions, and I found the sound to be the best when it is located away from walls and furniture. There is no "equalizer" for the tweaking of the sound--you'd have to do that from the device you are using to play the music. Your bluetooth device--whether it's your phone, or TV, or PC or tablet--takes the place of a remote, which I think is rather awkward. You can also input audio with an auxiliary 1/8" input (worked fine), USB drive (there is no display on the XV800, so you just scroll through the audio files on the drive as a blind operator) or a microphone or guitar input. The guitar audio was curiously suffering from a latency issue where a millisecond delay occurs, similar to guitar input devices for PC. The sound is awesome. But this thing is heavy--and top-heavy to boot. When you grasp it by the handles at the top and tilt it to haul it across the room on the two little luggage-type wheels on it, you are aware that it would be easy for it to tip over. I'd keep little kids away from it, especially when playing it with the lights enabled.

Party All The Time With Music
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony SRS-XV800 X-Series Bluetooth Party Speaker This Sony Party Speaker delivers a compelling sound that, in its class, is second to none. The Sony SRS-XV800 speaker features two 6.7-inch subwoofers and 5 tweeters. Together they produce rich, deep bass and clear, crisp treble. The MEGA Bass dishes out amazing bass with just a touch of a button. The speaker’s lighted touch controls are on the top of the speaker and are easily accessible. The ambient multicolor lights sync attractively with the music. In the dark, it swells your space with color. There is a compartment in the rear of the speaker with controls for an auxiliary connection, a USB-A (connection to charge a phone), an optical connection to connect to your television (Optical cord included with the speaker), and two inputs to connect a microphone and/or a guitar. I used a microphone, connected the optical cable to my television, and played karaoke using the Youtube TV app. My kids loved hearing themselves over the Sony Party Speaker. There is also an echo feature to the sound from the microphone you can play with. Although this speaker is “splash and spill-resistant, Sony warns against exposing the controls in the rear compartment to heavy liquids. The speaker’s aesthetics are appealing. The body is black and is made of high-quality plastic with metal handles. It looks great in any setting. You can move the 40 lbs speaker by either using the metal handles to carry it around or pulling the speaker by rolling it using the plastic wheels attached to the bottom of the speaker. The battery life is rated at 25 hours at 30% volume with the MEGA Bass on and the light feature off. With all the features on with a 65% volume, the speaker I tested lasted 10 hours. I could fast charge the speaker, giving me about three hours of battery life. It was extremely easy to pair my cellular phone. The Sony SRS-XV800 speaker runs on Bluetooth version 5.2. The frequency range is 20hz - 20khz. You can control most speaker settings using Sony’s Music Center App. The app automatically integrated my music library and my two music apps. It makes it pretty simple to switch songs between music apps. However, Sony Music Center App can use an upgrade. Sony should make the app more appealing to the user. Overall, the Sony XV800 is an excellent Bluetooth speaker with exceptional sound and premium build quality. This speaker with provide you with years of enjoyment.

Great Clear Sound (for the TV too!)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The XV800 X-Series Bluetooth® Party Speaker is a pretty large unit. About the size of most subwoolfers, but taller. It is 13” wide, 14” front to back and 27” tall. It is quite heavy. Once it is unpacked, it has wheels which makes it easy to move around. First thing, plug it in and let the unit charge for three hours. The electrical cord is five feet ling so you’ll probably need an extension cord. Next install the “Sony Music Center” application. Turn the speaker on and the Bluetooth function on your phone will find it and connect easily. Play music on your phone and Wow! It’s a party! It sounds as good or better than my expensive audio system. Volume can be controlled on the speaker or the phone. There is a mega base button that increases the amount of base. Easy to turn on or off. Multicolor lights appear on the front of the unit. The colors move through the color spectrum at a pace that is pleasing. The lights can be turned off if you prefer. With the application there are eight additional light modes to choose from. Installing the “Fiestable” gives you even more choices and voice control. Turn the lights on, change the speed and flashing pattern. With the motion control feature you can adjust the volume with a simple movement of your phone. You can group multiple speakers together if you are covering a large area. A really great function of this party speaker is the ability to connect to the TV. Comes with an optical cable for easy installation. It’s a five foot cable so place the party speaker close to the optical connection on the TV. Plug the cable in. Then on the app go to “Settings” then “Sound” and then turn on the TV Sound Booster. Set the volume on the TV and the speaker. As I said previously, that expensive audio system may be old news!

Big in size, with big sound to match
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to get this speaker due in part to my prior experience with older model Sony BT speakers, their reputation, and it looked really cool. Upon arrival I was actually stunned by the size, and weight of the box alone. Don’t did a great job with packaging, and making sure that their quality product, has quality protection. Out of the box, you notice instantly the size of the speaker. Setup was beyond easy, and made easier by the fact I already have the Sony app download on my phone. It pairs like any other Bluetooth device, electronic etc and I had no issues at all with pairing my phone to the speaker. With this speaker you will be the life of any party. The light up features, the fact that you can tilt and roll it without it being a hassle or too heavy, and the sound quality makes this a must for all summer, and house party activities. So far I have been able to use this at at the park during an outing and rolling it a long distance was seamless. It provides crisp and clean sound, and I have also been able to hookup a microphone to the back and had a blast doing karaoke! You can also hook other instruments to it with a similar port. There is also an optical output that allows you to use TV boost which I hooked up to try out, and the bass that the Sony SRS-XV800 provides is almost unmatched in any portable Bluetooth device I have used. The charge time is roughly 3 hours, and to be able to have great sound quality, a literal party in the form of a speaker, different options for the sound makes this well worth it, and you definitely overlook the size because it’s an asset.

Awesome bluetooth speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A couple things struck me right off the bat. It is big, it is heavy but it looks really nice! Second, connecting via bluetooth pairing was so easy and only took a couple of minutes. I recommend downloading the Sony Music app so you can easily control your lights (which are really cool, btw) and customize your sound settings. The sony sounds great with its own settings, but I prefer to use my custom setting. Streaming music on the free apps of your choice, you get pretty decent sounding music and it will get LOUD. Now playing music you have saved on your phone tends to be of a better quality and this is where the Sony shines! The music sounds amazing! I have not tried out the feature of being able to use this as a sound bar, but, if it is anything like my music experience, this will sound amazing. I also love the feature of being able to pair additional speakers and the Sony will tell you (when you have two paired) which is the left and which is the right. This speaker rocks and I am probably going to get a second one because they sound that good!!

A Sound Foundation to a Party!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, this speaker should come with a warning from the surgeon general: "Must Be Healthy Enough to Lift 50 lbs". Ok, it may not weigh 50 lbs, but this speaker is a TANK! Luckily, Sony had the forethought to put wheels on the bottom to make moving his heifer around much easier. But this brick house is heavy because it is loaded down with features! The most important part of a speaker is sound quality. You can advertise flashing lights, battery life, color options, and more. However, if the speaker just doesn't sound good, then what is the point? The entire purpose of a speaker is sound. Let me assure you, Sony understood the assignment. The Sony XV800 sounds phenomenal! Low volume, high volume, highs, lows, country, hip hop...this speaker delivers! Even when connected to a television using the optical cable, this speaker does a good job pretending its a home theater system. I have used this speaker at low volume playing background music during a family dinner, mid levels while working outdoors, and I turned her up a bit when working in the garage and no matter what words I used to describe the quality of sound this speaker puts out will not do it justice. I really hope a Best Buy near you sets up a demo for you to hear for your self. On to my second favorite feature...battery power. Did I mention this thing has a battery so you aren't married to a wall outlet? And the battery life is very generous. Having had this speaker for a little less than a week, I have not had to charge it since Day 1. I probably have 8-10 hours of listening in and haven't even touched the low battery zone. I have another tower speaker from a competing company that checks a lot of boxes and is in the same price range, however it requires plugged in non-stop. As you dive deeper into the speaker, you will find that there are a LOT of customization features available. Download the Sony Music Center App as well as the Sony Fiestable App. In tandem, these two apps open up an entire new world of entertaining! From adjusting light settings, to allowing others at your party to contribute to the playlist, to what I am super excited to try...KARAOKE!! I am terrible at singing, but there is a place to plug in a microphone and an entire section of the App dedicated to Karaoke, and it appears the App will score you on your performance. I am terrible at singing, but I am great at entertaining and will thoroughly enjoy this feature. Don't feel like getting behind the mic? No problem. Queue up your favorite tunes at a barbecue, have your friends join you on the Fiestable App, and watch the app sync your phones together and display synchronized colors for you to wave back and forth creating your own concert! Sound? CHECK Battery? CHECK Features? CHECK This Sony XV800 Speaker brings the noise...and then some!

Posted .Hi LarryD, We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your SRSXV800. We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. Signal reception on the speaker may fluctuate depending on the combination of the setup on your BLUETOOTH device and the ambient conditions. In such a case, the following may help for solving the issue.
Move the speaker away from a device such as a microwave oven and a wireless LAN access point.
There are some BLUETOOTH devices that can have the BLUETOOTH connection quality changed. If your device is compatible with this function, select “Priority on Stable Connection (SBC)” for the BLUETOOTH connection quality. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the device.
Select “Priority on Stable Connection (SBC)” for the BLUETOOTH connection quality of the speaker.
Please note that the range of the Bluetooth® connection is approximately 30 feet (10 meters). However, the maximum communication range will vary depending on obstacles (person, metal, wall, etc.) or electromagnetic environment.

Thank you for your time writing this review. We're sorry to hear if you are experiencing issues with your XV800 speaker. Allow us to help troubleshoot the problem and make this a better experience.
If the sound from the speaker contains noise, skips, or is distorted when connected via Bluetooth, please try some solutions below:
Remove any obstacles between the connecting Bluetooth device and speaker.
Locate the speaker farther away from a TV, radio or tuner, etc. since noise may occur in broadcasts.
A device with a built-in radio or tuner cannot be connected to the speaker via a BLUETOOTH connection since noise may occur in broadcasts.

Not subtle
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing I noticed when I received the box was how heavy it was. It's a substantial piece of equipment. I opened the box, tipped it over and lifted the box off like the instructions they print on the lid. I pulled off the wrapping and foam and plugged it in to fully charge. When they say "portable party" in the speaker's name, they are not kidding. I powered it on (after installing the app on my phone), paired it, and it was ready. My first impression was, yup there's the party! I have a custom of playing "One Night in Bangkok" as the first song for all my sound stuff, and this speaker hit it with force. Straight out of the box with no adjustment, this speaker impressed me. The bass was thumping hard, and the mids and high end were clear and clean and the lighting was bright and colorful and reacted to the music. The sound easily filled my basement family room, so I took it outside to continue the party. It projected across the backyard just as rich and clear as it did inside. I haven't cranked it up to full volume yet, but even at 60% or so it dominated the area. Thank goodness it has wheels. It's got nice roller-blade type wheels so it rolls just fine outside, and it is tall enough for the handle to be at a reasonable height for a tall person to pull it around. I have lots of outside activities and camping planned for the rest of the summer, so I'll have plenty of use for it. I also happen to have a pair of Sony hand-held bluetooth speakers that play in stereo so I'm looking forward to playing with speaker positions. It's super cool that I can join the speakers together even though the little ones are a few years old.
