Nice But One Big Negative

My usage is mainly video and the ZV-1 was nice but limited because you can’t change the lens. Also, for me the big negative was not being able to get at the memory card without removing it from the base when it is mounted on a tripod. That alone was enough to return it because it is a big workflow killer. It has lots of great features. Takes great video if you can get the lighting right. It is small and light weight, the swing out screen is nice and can be flipped to protect the screen when it your pocket. No viewfinder.

Only used a few times, still need to learn how to use it and get better at vlogging (in selfie mode)

Decent but not Ideal

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this was a good camera, however it is not the best if you would like to get into both videography AND photography. I upgraded to the ZV-E10 in order to fulfill the photography aspect given the E mount system that is available. It is not a full frame sensor but it is a very good APS-C sensor (hopefully I am correct)

Very Versatile!

However, menu can be confusing. Watch some YouTube videos to learn more about its settings. Microphone is better than iPhone with option to add an external mic. One negative would be the battery door. When using a tripod, battery can't be opened. As a result, be sure to purchase a cage which gives an option for battery door to be opened. Best feature—using USB cable to livestream! Be sure to update the camera's firmware to 2.0. Have fun!!!

The 4k is also nice but I don't use it as much since 1080p looks nice and saves on data. It is super nice and portable. The battery lasts a decent time. I've used it to record multiple takes for about 3 hrs? before needed to change the battery. Not bad for the tiny battery. The mic is also really good. Lot's of settings and autofocus is fire. I do recommend.

I got it to film a client. The audio was decent too even without a mic. But it does have a spot for a mic to be connected. Overall, I would say it's a excellent starter video camera.

LOVE MY ZV1

It is made for technologically challenged folks like me. What I mean by that is everything like focus and fade detection happens automatically with zero effort on my part. It also has an NDr filter and some way of prioritizing your face in different lighting. So you can be vlogging on a sunny day and then walk thru a dark tunnel and your face will be in view and illuminated. The aperture is not huge but this is not meant to be a full fledged video camera it is truly a vlogging camera.

Crisp image quality, but not so simple.

I see the M2 version seems to address some of them, but I find similar image quality in an iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is much easier to use. Hands down, though, the product showcase setting is remarkable!

As Good as You've Heard.

For the price, this thing rivals bulky cinema cameras that would set you back thousands just 10 years ago. Best point and shoot camera ever

Like any camera the ZV-1 ain't perfect but for the price and the options available it is the perfect tool for the right job. An included mic muff makes for very good sound and a flip out screen that every Sony shooter has wanted for years. Paired with the shooting grip this little camera is a powerhouse that punches way above its weight-class or price point.

The features are excellent and there is a YouTube video to help learn all the different features. Excellent for video making, easy to connect to the tv for viewing. The speaker is crisp and if you are filming and talking it’s great. You can add additional microphones and light.

Compact, sharp but weak battery
