Wireless earbuds have become the norm the past few years – “true” wireless more recently. This is the first Soundcore/Anker product I have owned, but not the first wireless buds. The Life Dot 2 XR buds come in average packaging and include a range of ear tip and ear wing sizes for just the right fit. When removing the case containing the buds from the box, one thing really stood out – the weight. There is definitely a bit of battery in this case! The case is hard plastic but very well constructed. The earbuds themselves aren’t heavy and feel pretty light in hand and while worn. They have a very modest look when worn. Inside the box is also a quick start guide, a “read me” quicker start guide, and a sound response card. Soundcore seems to be detail oriented. All the inserts were informative and helpful. You can use either start guide to get up and running without a hiccup – a definite plus in my book. There are even instructions on properly securing the buds in your ears, and they worked. Some may not understand, but after dealing with products that don’t have enough material to support the purchaser, I can appreciate the details. My buds seemed to already have a full charge, so it was time to pair. The pairing process was too easy. Go to Bluetooth on your phone and open the case.. The Life Dot 2 XRs will appear, and you pair them – simple. Soundcore has an app allowing user control of connected devices. In the app, you can adjust sound settings, set button behavior, set noise cancellation, and check battery levels. I found the app very responsive with an easy-to-follow layout. There are quite a few EQ presets, and you also can define your own EQ settings. Really easy to set your up buds just how you want them. Well, after all this, how do they perform? Admirably. My initial response was to adjust the EQ settings. The default is Soundcore Signature, which is recommended by the app, and it’s decent. After testing other presets, I found it was best to make my own custom profile. This helped me get the sound just right. The Life Dot 2 XRs aren’t the best sounding buds I own for listening to music, but they deliver clear sound and quite a punch. What holds them from that next level is the lack of what I consider a lid on the sound. They at times sound too open or airy. It’s what compression is used for in recordings. It’s not bad, but should be noted for the audiophile crowd. Calls were actually fantastic on my end and pretty good on the other end as well. The call quality was very loud and clear, and the connected party on the other end felt my voice was very clear. Background noise was very accurate and distinct. The caller on the other end could accurately tell what action was taking place on my end as I performed them. Should you buy them. Yes, if you aren’t an audiophile. Overall, from a sound perspective, I think the Life Dot 2 XRs are pretty good, and they have nailed the app experience. The rapid charging feature is fantastic in a pinch, and the battery life is outstanding. Also, at this price… Definitely worth consideration.

Budget ANC with Compromises and Good Battery

Let me begin by saying this is my first experience with Anker audio products, and I come to these with a unique perspective. I wanted to try a "budget" pair for work instead of buying a more expensive replacement pair - I recently lost while out - just to see how the experience would be. In short, you get what you pay for when in the truly wireless earbud world, and I CAN ATTEST TO THAT! Let's start off by saying what you DO get here when you buy the Soundcore Life Dot 2 XRs (LD2XRs). You get a reliable pair of IPX5 wireless ANC headphones that sound decent but missing a lot of functionality for a "truly wireless" experience. Like I said before, it is challenging to find an actual DETAILED spec sheet on the LD2XRs ANYWHERE on the internet or even the BOX. These could be a rebrand of an existing product for a retailer exclusive without actually offering improvements on this iteration. You cannot easily find details like Bluetooth version, audio codecs supported, or speaker frequency range and driver construction. I still don't know what version of Bluetooth this is. It could be v 4.0 for all I know. I believe for the price - there are MANY other options out there with better sound quality even if you get 1-2yr old models. If I could use only one word to describe the Soundcore Life Dot 2 XRs (LD2XR), it would be underwhelming. From their aesthetics and design to sound quality and the overall build - even the user experience comes down to a series of compromises resulting in one word, underwhelming. It feels like and looks like a recycled product (Life A2 NC) with a new name and higher price tag. The Life A2 NC page on Soundcore's website provides a little more information about what COULD be in these but STILL nothing I was looking for. What are you buying and getting for your money? Let's see what we can actually find. Design and build feels cheap and all plastic but are solid. Battery life is excellent on these, getting me through an entire workday of 8 hours without needing to charge. Battery life is rated at 7hrs, and I can say that is easily achievable. They fit exceptionally well and do not cause ear fatigue for me. They are lightweight and offer a wide range of customization options utilizing ear and wingtips. The case is cheap plastic as well but does pack magnets to help align things easier. The LD2XRs use a touch interface that is not that great, and I will leave it at that. Touch response is hit or miss, and I often find myself activating the assistant when taking them out of my ears due to the lack of sensors to disable touch when not actually being worn. There are no actual physical buttons to interact with these, which is also a reason for their hands-free experience limitations. It would be best if you used your phone to raise the volume or you will have to give up other options since there are only four ways to interact: short Left touch, long Left touch, short Right touch, and long Right touch. Now on to the actual LD2XR user experience. I've tested both Android and Apple experiences with these on an iPhone 11 Pro Max and Note 20 Ultra, and I can say these work well and have a stable, reliable connection on both platforms. Unboxing and pairing were easy and fast. Open the lid to reveal the Life Dot 2XRs (LD2XR), and you will see LEDs on the earbuds blink. Now they are automatically set to pairing mode out of the box. Please put them in your ears, get your device, go to Bluetooth settings, pair, and you are all set. For a better user experience offering customization, download the Soundcore app to ensure you have the newest firmware and customize your tap/hold functions. Within the Soundcore app, you have access to EQ settings which you WILL want to use. These sound bright out of the box, so for me, I turned down the highs a bit. On to the sound… it makes sound, but how well? What frequency response do these 11mm drivers have? What are the drivers made of? What codecs are supported? What version of Bluetooth does this have, and is it LE? I don't know! You cannot find this info anywhere readily accessible. My description of the sound is this… it leaves you yearning for more clarity and range. The soundstage is small and sounds just ok. If you want good sound, these are NOT for you. If you want something to get by, these could be for you. These don't seem to have a clear separation between mids and lows. Everything feels compressed, even when listening to high-quality audio. Highs are not crisp, and everything seems to be muddled together. The bass isn't very clean, and the highs are blah. Only SBC and AAC codecs are supported with better audio coming from Apple devices due to AAC over SBC, in my opinion. Video playback does not suffer from input lag, and audio is synced with video perfectly. Noise-canceling is barely average and but it does make a small notable change, in my opinion. Most of the ANC is done passively just by having something in your ear, but you can tell there is a slight bit of noise cancellation going on. Things I Love +Freedom to chose between left, right, or both buds for use. +USB-C with Fast Charging implementing a 10-minute charge for 90 minutes of playtime. +Good fit and offers a lot of options to custom fit. +No video audio latency found in cheaper headphones and old chipsets. Things Needed and NOT There -No Simultaneous Connections - only one device connected at a time. People have a tablet and a phone or even a laptop who would need to be connected simultaneously. -No wireless charging - for the overall package provided, wireless charging would have offset where this is lacking by providing more value. -Lack of buttons - this touch control implementation is just terrible. In my opinion, buttons would have made the experience better. NO WAY TO POWER DOWN OR ON WITHOUT CASE. -No auto-pause/touch disable - due to lack of sensors and features, these just connect and play once you open the case. No way to power down/up. -ANC is MEH. It is barely functional and makes a slight difference at lower frequencies, but voices and other noises are easily heard while in ANC mode. -Link issues after power save - when leaving one in the charger or power-saving mode turns on, you must return these to the case and let the buds "reset" and be "powered on". You need to return both to the charger to get both working again since there is no way to power them back on. -No intuitive way to pair. You need to open the case, hold the reset button on the bottom, then repair it. No button or touch combo to do this from the earbud itself. -No way to track lost earbuds - it would be nice to have a BlueTooth disconnect and GPS from the phone at least record on a map. No way to make these play loud sounds to find them if they fell in a cushion. -Charger - I HATE the charger. When it was designed, not much consideration was given to the orientation while wearing. When you take it from your ear and place it in the charger, your thumb is on the charging contacts of the LD2XR. You now need to do some finger gymnastics to flip it horizontally and vertically to get close enough to be magnetically set. Save yourself some time and learn to use the opposite hand and put it into the case for time savings. In all, with the plethora of higher quality earbuds on sale from last year's tech, I cannot recommend these if I have $100 to spend on earbuds.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We're really sorry you've encountered this issue!

Try the following troubleshooting steps to see if they are helpful:
      1. Use regular phone calls (not calling apps, VoIP, Messenger, etc.) in a quieter place to see if it makes any difference.
      2. Choose Life Dot 2 NC on your phone to pick up the call via phone instead of the earphones directly. Does it make a difference?
      3. You can also try to reset your earphones using the steps below to see if it works:
      - Reset the earbuds.
      - Place the earbuds in the charging case and leave the cover open.
      - Press and hold the button at the bottom of the case for 10 seconds until the LED indicators on the earbuds flash red 3 times and then turn white. Wait until the LED indicator on one earbud flashes fast while the other flashes slowly. This confirms that the reset was successful and your earbuds can be connected normally.

If those don't help, please reach out to us via service@soundcore.com or call us at +1 (800) 988 7973. We are more than happy to assist you further.

I have been using these Anker Soundcore Life Dot 2 earbuds for over a week and they are great. As soon as you take them out of the box you will notice that they provide you everything that you need to start enjoying some great music. These earbuds come with an ample amount of tips and covers to ensure that they fit comfortably in your ear. The only reason why I gave them 4 out of 5 stars was the fact that I had a hard time keeping them in my ears as a would go for a run. I tried every option available and they eventually would come out of my ears. When deciding to purchase earbuds, obviously sound quality is of most importance and these Ankers don't disappoint. You will need to download their Soundcore app to customize your listening experience. The app allows you to choose different ANC modes and you can also customize it depending on the music that you are listening. Within the app you can also customize your touch controls. Needless to say, in order to get the most out of these earbuds, I highly recommend you get the app. Considering the price of these Ankers, the sound quality is pretty good. Another plus, is the battery life. You don't have to worry about constantly putting them back in the case to recharge them. As I stated earlier, I have had them for a week and have used them every day and have yet to recharge them. They boast 35 hours of playtime and that will last you a while. Overall, I was very impressed by the sound quality and their noise cancelling abilities.

I have had the opportunity to try out a few different true wireless ear buds, wireless headphones, and wireless speakers; so I have a pretty decent knowledge of the various different offerings from multiple manufacturers. I received the Anker Soundcore Life Dot 2 XR with Active Noise Cancelling & began opening the packaging so that I could work on pairing the ear buds. The Soundcore app needs to be downloaded & I set about to do so. I didn't see my ear buds so I kept clicking around until I found them and setup was a breeze. Reading the instructions I saw that I could pause, unpause, go to the next track, hang up and pick up a call, etc. pretty cool; however, the app allows me to customize what tapping on the earbuds does. I like that and wish my AirPods had this functionality. I have a nice set of wireless noise cancelling headphones & so I was excited to try out what these would do. Going from those headphones that fit totally over my ear I am a little spoiled with how well they cancel noises. So after some playing around with the Life Dot 2 XR ear buds I was impressed with how well it does but can say that my previous headphones do the job much better. However, I am not going to knock the ear buds for this because we are talking about a device that covers my whole ear (in the headphones) vs. one that just slides into my ear (the Life Dot 2 XRs). Sound quality is really nice. I immediately listened to a podcast to see how clear spoken word is with these. It was crisp & clear. I next tried various types of music & have been super impressed with how much of a punch these ear buds pack. I was pleasantly surprised! Also, the Soundcore app allows me to set an equalizer & swap between the various equalizer options easily. I really like that. Though I am usually one to just set and forget it...so, knowing me I'll set it and never change it. I probably should to get the best quality of sound depending on what I'm listening to but I will just find what I like best and set it up as that then leave it be. The ear buds also come with various sized eartips & earwings to get the best fit. For me the default medium seem to fit really nicely. I had a bad experience years ago with a Beat by Dre having the ear tip coming off the earbud and staying in my ear...so I am super cautious with these. So far, the Life Dot 2 XR has not done me that way. All in all I am very happy with the Life Dot 2 XR wireless ear buds with active noise cancelling. I'd definitely recommend giving these a try & love that it fits so snugly that I can run without them falling out!

I have had so many problems with these not staying in my ears regardless of what tips I choose. They flare up my Tmj because I have to use muscles in my face and ears to keep them stable. In addition, I have had two sets of these from Best Buy and both have failed before 6 months of ownership. They are are charged but won’t turn on when removed from the case. May be my last anker purchase. Out of 5, Almost everything has failed before a year of ownership. The price point just isn’t low enough for this length of life.

Anker has been known to make quality products like cables and battery packs. Soundcore is under their brand and the same goes for their audio products. These are a pair of ANC true wireless earbuds at a price that is a fraction of more expensive options out there with pretty solid sound quality and ANC. Inside the box you get the earbuds in a case along with various fins and ear tips along with a USB type c cable to charge it as well. The Sound quality, ANC quality and tap setting can all be controlled in the soundcore app. The ANC is pretty good. Not as up there as other earbuds but for under $100 I am not complaining. The ANC will block most of the low frequency sounds so you'll be happy using these on the train or plane if you can get a good fit. The Sound quality isn't bad but to be honest I don't like the sound signature myself.

When it comes to earbuds, I like to keep things simple while getting features that matter to me like ANC which make the experience a more well-rounded one. With multiple ear tips, it's easy to find which ones fit you best and although the ANC is good, I have seen better with other models I have tried but for the price, I will agree it's great technology to have without having to spend more that $100. I have used them for workouts, conference calls, and even while driving as they are still better than the BT in my car. Overall, I would say if you have a short budget, these are a great option that provides ANC, a substantial amount of playtime, and is comfortable and easy to use in an array of situations. At this price point, I think they got a lot covered with these and overall it is a good set of earbuds for the price.

The Soundcore Life Dot 2 XR Earbuds try to standout in the (extremely) saturated ear bud market and nearly pull the one-two punch needed to accomplish it. The only issue? The cost... At $100 you can find quite a few offerings that provide better sound quality as well as specs, not to mention if you are willing to go up to $120-150 you can get some AMAZING buds that will give you the noise reduction offered here (more on that below) as well as an even better sound quality. But, if you are stuck on Anker (they are a really good brand) or are able to find these on sale I'd consider them a good place to spend your hard earned money. You get a lot of stuff in the package; an assortment of bud and body covers to help "lock" the Soundcore XR's into place (you slide them into your ear, then twist slightly to "lock" into the groove in your ear canal), as well as a charging cable and pod. I happen to have fairly odd shaped inner-ears and usually have to rely on over-ear or "sport" buds (the style that has the clip on it that goes up and around the top of the ear) if I want to do any sort of long duration listening. The Soundcore XR's are some of the first inner-earbuds without those clips that haven't started hurting my ears after a few hours. Now, I did start having pain around the 4 hour mark, but that's nearly double what I'm accustomed to, so that's a win in my book. Sound quality is alright, but for $100 I was expecting a little more punch. The clarity is there and while I'm not looking for (or really even wanting) massive bass, there really just wasn't that bottom-end fullness to round out of the soundstage, regardless of what type of music I threw at it. I suspect you're paying a slight premium for the excellent NR capabilities, as all my calls not only sounded great (you don't need mids or really any bass in this area) but the noise reduction was awesome. The outside world didn't totally disappear (these are not NC buds) but the XR's put forth a really solid effort to keep those on the other end of my calls at the forefront of what was hitting my ear drums. Speaking of soundstage; you will also want to get the Soundcore app. This allows you to keep an eye on any/all things related to any Anker product. I even messed with the EQ settings to try and get a little more of that aforementioned "punch" but could not get it where I wanted it. Not terrible for a $30-$60 ear bud, but for $100? I am expecting it to be there. Battery life was stellar. It doesn't hurt (pun intended) that I can't wear them for 8 hours anyway, but when I took them off at around that 4 hour mark, I still had nearly 50% battery (44%) according to the app. If you don't have weird canals like me I could see being able to get a solid 7+ hours out of them. To wrap it all up; I have to take a star away for the price coupled with the lack of sound quality relative to said price. At full msrp I'd be on the fence, finding them on sale I'd totally recommend them.

I would recommend this to a friend
