Spirited Away is one of my favorite Studio Ghibli films. It's a beautiful film that reminded me a little of Alice in Wonderland. Spirited Away is full of wonderful and strange characters and Miyazaki wrote a great story. I bought the GKIDS release to replace the 2 disc DVD set that Disney released years ago. I liked that it has the english subtitles to the Japanese audio track instead of the "dubtitles" Disney included in their release. The artwork on the discs is also a lot nicer on the GKIDS release than on the Disney release. The only thing that would make it perfect would be if a digital copy was included. I like the thought of being able to stream Spirited Away when I want to watch it.

This anime is a classic among the crowds! If you ever thought about seeing this, definitely buy it! The movie itself is long, so be ready to dedicate a few hours for this movie! It may be long BUT it is very entertaining, you have some interesting characters come about and there are scenes where you are left with a "uhh what just happened?!" feel, but in a good way! It is an interesting story line but the animation and the details behind it, are epic! Keep in mind when watching it, it is all HAND DRAWN! This is not all computer generated, the studio actually had artists draw the animation and have it all hand drawn, SOOO MUCH to be appreciated! Sweet movie overall and very entertaining! You will not be bored with this movie!

I heard about Spirited Away and watched it. I actually enjoyed the movie. Good plot, good anime. It was quite suspenseful never knowing what would happen next.

A beautiful film with gorgeous animation. Filled with lots of color and details in the backgrounds that look amazing in this Blu-ray version. This isn't computer generated animation either, A nice story with lots of different characters. A few bits that might be a little scary to very young children but not that intense or for long. Lots of cute little bits are included. The inside of the steelbook has an image imprinted on it. The booklet contains the same image so you can see what it looks like in color.

I've been hesitant to start my Studio Ghibli collection due to the cost of the films, but I had a ton of reward points lying around, so I finally took the dive. I loved the Japanese audio version, but Disney and John Lasseter really did a great job in NOT cutting out any content or changing the script for the English adaptation. Wonderful film, with something for everyone. Don't look at it and think "ew, anime". If you haven't ever seen any of Hayao Miyazaki's films, then you're missing out on some of the finest film available. There's a reason this movie stays in or near first place on ANY aggregate review site IN THE WORLD, ACROSS ALL GENRES. It really is THAT good.

It took a long time for me to acquire this Blu-ray; I kept missing it on the shelves. Fortunately, I found it and snatched it right away. Hayao Miyazaki Delivers a masterpiece of animation and storytelling. You immediately become drawn to Chihiro and her adventures in this wildly unusual world of magic and spirits. Everyone should see this film, if only to admire the world building. Aside from that, I cannot give enough praise to this film. Along with Akira, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, this one of my favorite animated films.

Spirited Away is a beautifully animated film. With a fantastical, thought provoking story and setting, the film is lengthy, and may not hold younger viewer's attention with it's slow, dramatic score, lax pacing, and some disturbing imagery. But, personally, next to The Castle of Cagliostro it's one of Hayao Miyazaki's best movies. The blu-ray has a pristine image and audio presentation, and a great selection of bonus features that are worth exploring whether you're into film making or not. The film is a decent entry point for those unfamiliar with Studio Ghibli's films, or anime on the whole, as the English dub is more than adequate compared to some other films.

Product Review: Because the movie is so old, I DEFINITELY recommend the Bluray edition. Trust me, it is significantly better than the DVD Movie Review: this was the second anime movie I have ever watched, and I am glad I watched it with an expert. Though it was a little confusing it was still super interesting to watch. Once I saw the youtube explanation videos after seeing the movie all the light bulbs went off and I can agree that this movie is a masterpiece!!

The one negative about the film is not even about the film. Before the movie itself begins, some guy does a weird introduction, which you cannot turn off or avoid. This causes confusion since you think you are about to watch the movie, but at least the introduction is pretty short. The film itself is absolutely incredible. However, to really experience the film, I recommend watching it in Japanese. Regardless, the characters are very unique and add so much to the overall story. Though the film is expensive, it is completely worth buying!

Anyone who is remotely interested in buying this movie is probably well acquainted with Studio Ghibli and what their films are like. I won't spend any time on that, because Spirited Away is my favorite of Miyazaki's films and I'd be very biased. This product as a blu-ray on the other hand? Also their best. Disney released a fantastic one. The video quality is so pristine, it ranks up there with some of the best looking animated blu-rays. And the audio is even better. The sound affect and music fill your surround sound incredibly. And better yet, it's packed with bonus features. This blu is a no brainer.

Spirited Away is easily one of the best animated films of all time. Studio Ghibli has produced some of finest animated movie ever, but there were was one movie that I would have any uninitiated viewer watch, it would be this one. A blend of Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and Coraline with a unique art style and top notch voice acting, this is a true classic. Gorgeously remastered in HD, the film itself and the bonus features make this a must have for any fan animation. Its rated PG for some intense moments, so I would recommend it for older children (elementary school age) to adults

I never really watch any ghibli films into my ex show me this film and by god its one of my all time favorite films. There is a lot to comment on this film from its art direction to how wonderfully paced the film took. I wish I watch this growing up because I missed out on such a wonderful film. Since they put it on bluray it even looks more beautiful than the first time I ever watch it. Go get it and enjoy Ghibli masterpieces.

I watched this for the first time this year and was entertained the entire time. Great watch for kids or adults.

This is my favorite Ghibli movie. The whole thing is like a giant ring that comes back to where it starts. It gets into the story fairly quickly and doesn't waste a lot of time explaining to the viewer what is happening. This way the viewer can experience somewhat the same emotional confusion that Chihiro does. The music is also amazing. Joe Hisaishi did one of his best scores on this one. The music enhances the magic and beauty of the film.

This is a must own movie. Everything about it is perfect. Long story short, it’s coming of age film about a young girl who has to work in a supernatural bath house in order to save her cursed parents. Along the way she makes life-changing friends and grows into a better person. This is the first DVD that I have bought in YEARS. I had to buy a physical copy in this digital age because it’s really that good! Buy it! You won’t regret it.

We recently watched "My Neighbor Totoro" at a festival on the big screen for the first time. During the view, we noticed that our version on DVD at home was different. T In my recollection, the whole sequence around the tree was different. When I went home, I realized that we owned a 'Disney' version. It rubbed me the wrong way. If you want to see the movie in the original version, a prestine, untouched version, as Miyazaki intended, un-Lassetered, then you can't depend on the Disney version.

We love all the Miyazaki movies and this is no exception. This is an excellent movie and an excellent set.

I had seen Kikki's Delivery Service years ago with my kids, and was aware of this movie but had never seen it nor did I know the story. I'll keep my review spoiler free, but will say, like many Japanese anime, the story was both touching and emotional and pretty far out at the same time. I feel like there were many Japanese memes and cultural touch points that I recognized as being there but didn't fully understand, but I though the movie was engaging quite the same. Ultimately, I really enjoyed it. If you like classic Anime and haven't seen this, you should absolutely catch it. The movie paints a strange, magical world and you will hopefully be caught up in the directors vision like so many people have. Note: The style of this anime is "kids movie" on the outside, but I actually talked to one of my teen age sons who remembered seeing it at a much younger age, and I think it left a weird impression on him. Nothing in the film is 'adult' but there is definitely some strange stuff going on parts. Parents with young, especially impressionable children, might want to take a viewing first and make sure it's not too far out for their kids,

I had this movie recommended to me by a close friend and had fallen in love with it streaming on HBO Max originally but ultimately wanted the full uncompressed audio you get from blu-ray discs. Visually, it is as good as I can imagine and having the original audio mix with English subtitles is my new favorite way to experience this movie.

This is a good, dramatic anime. Very well done. It takes a bit to follow the story. It is very strange and deep. It's well worth watching! DON'T STREAM!! Streaming is good for what it is, however, you're depending on someone elses server for your movies!! This gives them way too much power on what you watch and when! If they don't want you to see it anymore, they pull it and it's gone!. I NEED a hard copy in my hand!! Don't give them that power - Support DVD/Blu-Ray's!! Support 3D!!
