Don’t let the price tag deter you! It is by far the best Square reader (and payment terminal, for that matter) that I’ve used in the 5 year lifespan of my small business. It is stand-alone, sleek, great tech, and just totally functional.

It’s simple to operate and very affordable. I had an issue with my terminal and even though I had a hard time getting through to customer service, I left a call back number and they returned my call.

So I was unable to use the Square terminal at two different trade shows. At first, I couldn't connect at all, so I contacted Square's technical support. The first tech support person (someone named Robert) was a jerk. Among other things, he kept trying to blame my iPhone instead of doing any real troubleshooting with me. My computer was able to use my iPhone as a hotspot. So was my iPad. So clearly the problem was with the Square terminal. Robert repeatedly told me to contact my phone carrier for support. But my carrier had nothing to do with the problem. I repeatedly asked Robert to refer the matter to his manager, but he refused to do so. Finally, I complained to Square's legal department and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. That got me to someone else who legitimately tried to help. But he and his engineering team were unable to resolve the problem. Interestingly, another vendor at the most recent trade show somehow got the Square terminal working ... temporarily. She didn't do anything I hadn't already done. The terminal just decided to cooperate for her. It continued to work after I got it home. However, when I tested it a few days later, it no longer recognized my iPhone hotspot no matter what I did. Bottom line, the Square terminal does not work reliably with an iPhone hotspot, and Square is incapable of assisting customers with this problem.

Easy to Use and Set Up!

Was easy to set up and we have had no problems with any type of credit/debit card transaction. Love that it prints out order tickets and receipts right from the same machine.

It travels well for going festivals & has all the benefits of the Square product with an option to print a receipt for customers that prefer a paper receipt over an electronic receipt. The battery was fully charged to start and lasted all day! I love it!

Feels well-build when you hold in your hand. Square makes taking credit cards, debit cards or other forms of payment (Google & Apple Pay) easy. Dip, swipe, tap, insert chip, no matter how, it is very fast and everyone likes the quick convenience.
