To me, this was re-writing the entire Star Trek movies. To be honest, I was not a fan of this reincarnation of Star Trek the first time that I saw it in the theaters; however, time heals all wounds, and decided to give this another chance. While nothing can replace William Shartner, Leonard Nimoy and DeForrest Kelly's on-screen bonds, this is still a good Star Trek movie. If Star Trek had not been around for ages before this reincarnation took place, it would be fantastic. In conclusion then, if you have never seen as Star Trek movie, this is a great place to start; however, if you are a Trekky and a fan of the original series, this may be one to leave on the shelf.

J.J. Abrams has done it again! This brilliant take on the Star Trek mythos perfectly mixed everything I love about action movies and everything I ever loved about Star Trek. It has great comedy, dialogue, special fx, and more. This movie should be on every Trekkie's shelf and especially every action movie lover's shelf. The only thing that keeps it from perfection is the really lousy offering of extras (read: besides commentary....there isn't any)

I've owned the bluray since day one...Now I'm 4K, and since I love this film, I thought I would give it a shot. Outside of the fantastic 4K quality of the disc, the biggest 'wow' for me, was the INCREDIBLE DOLBY ATMOS TRACK that comes with the 4K disc...It is a game-changer in my dedicated theater room, so if you have 4K and dolby Atmos, and like this movie, then by all means, 'make it so!'

Love this movie, the only disappointing thing was that the version I got on sale for $10 has no extras on the disc and the title of the disc on my PlayStation reads as "Star Trek Disc 1" even though this package does not have more than one disc. I assume the extras are on the elusive "Disc 2"

I did a side by side Blu-Ray vs 4K of several movies and I honestly don't see a resolution difference. Makes me really wonder if there is real 4K content out there. My Blu-Ray is PS3 uploading to Samsung 65ES8000 HD TV and 4K is Samsung K-8500 uploading to LG 65EF9500 4K OLED TV. Now there is the OLED superior black contrasts and a bit better color rendition which is probably the HDR at work but otherwise the resolution did not appear to be any better on the 4K than regular HD. If you have good components then I challenge the value in purchasing 4K content over Blu-Ray media . . . Doesn't appear to be any different yet.

I've always wanted to buy the Star Trek reboots as soon as I upgraded my home theater to 4k and Dolby Atmos. I must say that I am very impressed with the sharp picture and colors. The Dolby Atmos sound track for Star Trek is probably one of the best Atmos playback that I've ever heard. I truly recommend these movies in 4k UHD Blu-ray with a Dolby Atmos sound system.

As a little girl I grew up watching Star Trek: Next Generation. So seeing new Star Trek content is always thrilling. I love the CGI in the film, it's truly top notch; the writing pulls you into the universe that so many Trekkies know and love and gives it a new and interesting twist. They've really got people's hopes up with this movie and I hope they can deliver more of this quality content in the future.

The movie is great, but how is the 4k video and audio quality? I was blown away by both. This is a demo movie to show the capabilities of a 4k TV. Picture was super clear and audio was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this one for Trek fans and also to see what 4k is all about.

This movie is nothing less than Amazing!!! It is action packed every step of the way!!! I', m so happy that I was able to purchase it at the store. Watched this movie every night since I purchased it! Way to go Best Buy! Keep giving us movies to love!!!

This is the only Star Trek film I could reasonably get my wife to watch without her being angry or straight up falling asleep. She gave it a glowing review of pretty good. Good enough in my book. This is an enjoyable movie and it starts with a humdinger of a scene that sets up our emotional journey and sidesteps previous canon. Watch it if you enjoy fun. Otherwise, you may not be interested.

When this movie first released I didn't expect much. But I gotta say, the cast and crew they selected absolutely nailed their roles! They portray their characters so well, I was mind blown at how much I really enjoyed this film. Since recently upgrading to 4k, I had to get this updated blu-ray. I really love the new Star Trek reboot franchise

To begin with I should say that I really like this film. The visuals are amazing. Now that it is avalible on 4K, watching the film is like an immersive experience in my living room! From the very beginning until the last frame, it's a feast for the eyes!

The sound and picture quality are outstanding on this 4K remaster. You will not be disappointed with this 4K Blu-ray. One of the opening scenes where a young Captain Kirk is driving in future Iowa while listening to the beastie boys makes the whole film work.

a new startrek for a new generation. as a fan of the older movies, and cognizant on not judging a book by its cover, initially I did NOT like this new startrek movie, but then I went and saw into darkness and was convinced, perhaps I'd been too hasty in passing judgement. I was, and I'm glad I gave this movie a second chance. a movie well worth watching.

Coming from the standard blu-ray that came out in 2009, this is definitely a nice upgrade and at the price that bestBuy is selling it for. Who can resist that. It gets in nice boost in colors and an Atmos sound. If your a Star Trek fan I would get it.

My very first 4K disc. The picture quality is simply magnificent. This is a 3-disc set and offers all the extras you could ever seek. After purchasing this, I saw Best Buy was having a sale on other 4K titles so I jumped right into purchasing both sequels to this film and I'm glad I did. All 3 are excellent 4K titles with amazing picture quality.

I already have the Blue Ray version but decided to try 4K and was I surprised and delighted by the picture but the Atmos Audio is where this one shines. I heard things that were not there before. BTW my system includes a Yamaha 2060 and Infinity Reference speakers 2 Velodyne subs and for the Atmos I am using Canton bookshelf speakers.

How do you improve on an already amazing movie? Add 4K HDR goodness to it! It was a wonder to re-watch this movie in glorious 4K HDR. The space battle scenes are literally out of this world! HDR contrast was definitely portrayed well with the blackness of outer space and bright colors of lasers. It was truly a gratifying experience!

This movie is approaching its 10 anniversary and it marks the first big budget film of JJabrams and propelled him into the director's chair of two Star Wars episodes. As far as the film is concerned it is fast paced and entertaining and is a worthy part of any Sci-fi or Fantasy film fan's collection. This 4k version boasts Incredible detail and hdr enriched color palett that breathes new light into this fim. Im looking forward to "Into Darkness" 4k hopefully near in the future!

Okay, had to catch up my kids before we say Star Trek: Beyond so was a an impulse buy really. Very glad I did, as it lays down the groundwork for the new story line completely. For sure, you need to watch this new story line - great cast, well acted, well produced, and truly an excellent and worth reboot of the Star Trek tradition.
