Hugely entertaining reboot of the franchise. The movie looks great in 4K and the Dolby Atmos/TrueHD audio track sounds fantastic. Solid amount of bonus features, including a commentary track.

J.J. Abrams' fresh take on Star Trek does a great job of reinvigorating the franchise. Strong actors and a good plot anchor compelling action in this summer blockbuster. The only downside to this release is the lack of extras - those who are interested in commentaries and behind-the-scenes specials would do well to purchase the Star Trek Compendium, which includes Star Trek and Into Darkness along with the full suite of special features for both.

Action packed movie that introduced a fresh new start to Star Trek. I wasn't a Trekkie by any means before this movie but it made me interested in the franchise and even made me go back and watch the beginnings of Star Trek with the original cast with Shatner and Nimoy. Definitely recommend to all sci-fi fans.

In my view is one of the better is not best of the "new" Star Trek movie series. Cool steelbook version at very good price point. There is another more expanded blu-ray version of this movie, but if you like to collect the steelbook versions, this is good option.

James Kirk growing up without a father. Spock beating up bullies. Two versions of Spock talking to each other. Spock's relationship with Uhura. Spock as Captain and Kirk as First Officer. This version of Star Trek presumes the original series but through a different timeline. We see the beginnings of Kirk, Spock, Chekov, Sulu, Uhura and Scott. The familiar is twisted and creates an exciting new start to the Star Trek series. I strongly recommend this movie and its sequel.

I admit that I wasn't expecting much from the new cast. Not because of any dislike of the new actors, but because of the nostalgia for the original series cast from the 60's. However, the new cast is great, and I hope they're making new Star Trek movies for many years to come!

Again . . . this one is NOT within a universe of The Greatest Story Ever Told . . . AVATAR . . . it is Star Trek . . . and . . . NOT directed by William Shatner . . . so . . . it is watchable . . . again and again . . . IF you are a Trekkie. Ces't moi. See it in 4K!

It's so nice to be able to easily find movies that are no longer on store shelves through the Best Buy website. The price was good, and shipping was quick and convenient. The product came intact. My teen will be happy to complete his Star Trek movie collection.

If you are looking for premium content for your new 4K TV, then this is the movie to watch. The vibrant colors and the deep blacks will bring out the best in the PQ of your TV. As a bonus, this Star Trek reboot by JJ Abrams is very entertaining and well done.

If you were looking to upgrade your Abrams Trek movies to the Compendium set and/or are upgrading to 4K, you may want to consider getting the separate 4K editions of the Star Trek movies to have both the 4K versions of the movies and ALL extras from the Compendium set.

Prequel respects the spirit of the original "Star Trek" TV series. Acting captures the original characters particularly of Kirk and Spock while the actors give their own credible performances. Special effects are great and don't "look" computer-generated. "Skin" scene in girls' quarters was not needed; Kirk's boundary-pushing mindset and lack of discipline in relationships were clearly illustrated in other scenes. Element of time travel was intriguing as always.

I never thought anybody other than Leonard Nimoy could be spock, but Zachary Quinto nailed it. Actually all the cast do a wonderful job, and JJ Abrams shows he is one of the all time best directors of popular culture movies. Also it looks spectacular in 4K.

I bought this thinking I was getting the special edition but ended up getting the normal copy blu ray. It's fine since it was only $5.99. I love this movie. I didn't have hope for a reboot in the Star Trek franchise but this one blew my expectations out of the water.

This movie looks and sounds amazing! Plus, it manages to make each character unique and important, and also have them interact together with great chemistry. Very entertaining! I've seen this movie several times and would watch it again, and again, and again...

I love this film. I'm always a little hesitant when they do a reboot of a famous film series. They did an absolutely superb job. A great tribute to the franchise that's been brought up to date. Go crew.

I bought this movie just for the jump from SDR to HDR. 4k is amazing, but HDR is the true major change in viewing quality for movies and TV right now. Definitely worth picking up just for the HDR, but the movie is also a ton of fun and really good as well!

The fast paced sci-fi action was delight, after so many slow-drama Star Trek movies. The acting was top notch, the effects spectacular. The plot was easy enough to sit back and enjoy, and with unexpected twists, still keep you engaged. I like the connections to the original series.

This isn't really a review of the movie...Movie was fantastic...rather, it's a review of the 4k Ultra quality. Visually, a solid 4. Things look beautiful. The only caveat is those stupid sun flares that J.J Abrams like, are even more distracting! Sound is why I think you should buy this. Solid 5...really adds to the atmosphere. Overall, like I said solid 4.5 Movie itself is a solid 4.5 ... best of the three (imho).

Being a fan of the original Star Trek, I was wary of a reboot. Many times, reboots don't live up to the original. In this case, they succeeded. Instead of a complete reboot that ignored what came before it, this movie uses the original as a starting point. The story is engaging, and the acting is pretty good. Of particular note are Bones and Scotty. Their portrayals really bring the essence of the original characters, while still being their own.

Great Movie.Action Packed. Great storyline and plot. Stay true to Original series with a modern point of view. Good Value. 3 ways to play, definitely worth the price. Covers just about every playback you need unless you're stuck in the dark ages.
