First, I'm an avid Star Trek fan from the first season back in the '60s. Having said that, I think Roddenberry would be very proud of this one. Pine, Quinto, et al. do a bangup job enhancing the already intense standard set in place by the Shatner team. Karl, Zoe, Simon, and Anton (RIP) are all first class. I just didn't like the bad guy -- way too reminiscent of "Outer Limits" and not original at all. The effects are fantastic in 3D. Great sound track too.

The action is fierce, and a little overwhelming at times. Scenes shoot by so fast during the takedown of the Enterprise that a second viewing is needed to see who did what and where. That's where the Blu-Ray will come in- you'll be able to catch those other little moments that fly past almost too quickly to catch. The quieter scenes are where this movie really shines, especially the interaction between McCoy and Spock. McCoy finally gets some great moments,

Best movie of the new Star Trek franchise. Simon Pegg helped to create a story that brought back memories of the original cast and their various interactions. the CGI was not overly obtrusive like some of the recent Marvel and DC movies. Very nice tribute to Anton Yelchin and Leonard Nimoy in the Special Features as well as the movie itself. The motorcycle scene was also welcomed instead of the usual high tech rescue device. Thoroughly Enjoyable movie.

This is a continuation of the original 5 year mission and the acting is very good. Special effects are top notch as well. Tons of action and the story holds true to the TV show, with villains, heroes and lots of extras...plus an end to civilization as we know it! What more could you ask for? Well, maybe quit wrecking the space ship would be the first priority, but they seem to be a dime a dozen. Good SiFi and lots of extras on the Blue Ray version.

Beyond, while not the best of the new franchise, maintains some of the original premise of original Star Trek TV series, a apparent galactic villain bent on destruction of the Enterprise and its crew. Action feels like watching interstellar Fast & Furious movie (Justin Lin director). Characters are the same, nice tribute to Leonard Nimoy during the movie. Sound is great on my home theater system and video quality is good (not as much light flares). I enjoyed this new outing, but not as much as Into Darkness, and is still a worthy film and bluray to add to my Star Trek collection

Lots of action and good f/x. Starts off a little too childish - maybe going after "Star Wars" fans? - with animal characters, but gets better from there with a more adult story (though too much of the story revolves around "Scotty" IMHO, though that might be understandable since it's co-written by Simon Pegg, who plays "Scotty.") Also notable as being the last appearance on Anton Yeltsin as "Chekov" due to his tragic and untimely accidental death.

If you like the other two reboot films you'll like this one. It's the most exciting and the most visually spectacular of the three. If you like and have the other two, you must have this one. It did have the feel that this film was designed to be a finale. As plotted out, they could easily bring it to the small screen, since they've left room in the timeline for the episodic format to occur before this one. This one made a good date-night film.

I have been a fan of Star Trek since I was little. So any movie they put out can easily become one of my favorites. That being said, this movie was great. Each one they put out is exceptionally better than the last. Zachary Quinto is great as Spock. And I appreciate that they paid attention to Leonard Nimoy's death. Idris Elba is a great villain. And Chris Pine? Also exceptional as Cap. James Tiberius Kirk. Hopefully this won't be the last one

I (we) were very pleased with this Star Trek installment. Unlike a lot of the newer 3D releases, this production has more bang for the buck $$! We felt like we were in the movie, which is what 3D is all about. It must have been actually filmed using real 3D cameras instead of trying to convert 2D To 3D! It also has super sound and action. Highly Recommend this version of the movie. If you are a Star Trek fan, this is a must buy, at Best Buy!

I really enjoyed this movie and felt that it really reminded me of the original TV series. There were times that I was confused on the story the first time I watched it but overall it was very good. I love the cast and think that even though the relationships are not true to the original shows/ movies, the new relationships are just as fun and intriguing. I really enjoyed the movie and am looking forward to more of these Star Trek movies.

I know some people complained, and there are those who nitpick every little detail, but this was a FUN movie. It contains all the elements that made the original series so enjoyable: the back-and-forth between Spock and McCoy, interesting aliens (and funny ones too), a great space battle, and an alien world. It is a film light years beyond Into Darkness and if you didn't like that, try Beyond. It will restore your faith in the franchise.

To start, this is a review of the steelbook packaging, not the movie itself. The artwork for the steelbook is beautiful. Build quality is good, and overall design is great. The only thing I'm going to be critical about is the internal artwork. All it has is a field of space/stars. While it certainly works, I find myself wishing there was more to the inside given the beauty of the outside. That's the only thing holding this Steelbook back from 5 stars, hence the 4 star rating. And on that note, the movie was great and I highly recommend you see it if you haven't.

This is by far the best 4k+Atmos experience out of the 3 movies. The picture is exceptionally crisp, but the real standout out is the Atmos soundtrack. The overhead speakers get a nice workout through the movie. Particularly during the chase through the crashed ship. The hull of the Enterprise creaks all around you and is very fluid and seemless making you feel like your house is falling apart around you. Fantastic experience.

We enjoy watching the first two Star Trek movies of this trilogy and were eager to watch the third movie. We were surprised at the story of the movie, a good surprise. It kept us interested and entertained. Great story, and the actors were fantastic. We highly recommend adding this movie to complete the trilogy.

The film itself is easily passed over amidst all the superhero and star wars talk this year. However, it was pleasantly surprising, as have been the previous installments of this franchise. Moreover, the actual product from BestBuy (the physical blu-ray disk) works well, as expected. It was reasonably priced, and the sales transaction worked charmingly well. Overall, I both recommend the film as a purchase, and buying it from BestBuy.

So I just wTched this movie after buying it for Black Friday last year! I am kicking myself for missing it in the theater! I will say it was tied with Rogue One for the best si-GI of 2016 in my book! While still having the epic more Star Wars feel of the first two movies, this one also felt like a classic or TNG episode as well! A very great episode in the series that really is the best of the 3 in this reboot series! Get it now!

While the movie isn't really my favorite (and it's certainly the worst in the new Star Trek series), it IS my go-to movie for showing off my new OLED 4K TV. The image is pristine. Tons of great scan and pan shots that showcase how great my display looks. Audio is stellar too. Well worth it for just these reasons. But, if you're not looking for a 4K showcase, go check out the first movie in the series. It's a ton of fun!

I had to upgrade my DVD to Blu-ray for my extensive movie collection! This is a must see for any Star Trek movie fan, great fun and action packed! Picture quality is great in HD along with the Dolby/Atmos 5.1 Hd audio sound! Included is the DVD and Digital HD (valid thru 11-7-18)! Lots out extra's including deleted and behind the scenes! Highly recommended! Purchased this 2 disc set from BB for under $9.00, great price!

I love the reboot of the Star Trek franchise and the selection of actors to play the main cast was fantastic. This particular movie was so in keeping with the original Star Trek story lines and exploration of new placed and cultures. The development of the characters continues and I was great to see Scottie's character explored more. Absolutely fantastic movie that brings all the action and excitement you would expect.

This is a fun film for Trekkies and sci-fi fans. In my opinion, this movie is better than Star Trek Into Darkness, but doesn't quite hold up to the first film of this new series. What I like most about this film is it doesn't take itself too seriously and plays more like one of the old Star Trek episodes. The visual effects are stunning, and the story (although a bit derivative) is supported with strong performances.
