    Junk Food Entertainment

I love the first two Star Trek reboots. The new one is more or less just as entertaining, but seems like it lacked something that I can't quite put my finger on in this one. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but it felt like that junk food you eat to satisfy a craving that hits the spot, but 15 minutes later you wish you had something more filling. I'll be curious to see how it holds up on repeat viewings. As with the first two Star Trek reboots, the audio/video portion of the blu-ray are stellar.

I saw this film twice in the cinema, and enjoyed it immensely. All the central cast members get their fair share of screen time, and the plot is action packed, but well paced. Effects are terrific, and they never overwhelm or distract from the story. Only sad note is seeing Anton Yelchin, who tragically died just after filming wrapped. I highly recommend this film. The DVD is great.

I am a Trekkie so buying this was pretty much a necessity. I love the movie and this set has three formats. I pretty much enjoy all Star Trek shows and movies but I have to ask...has anyone else noticed that this latest set of movies destroys the Enterprise in every movie? If you look carefully, you can also notice that they botch the ID number tag on the new ships too. Very fun movie.

It isn't easy creating new characters that are both acceptable and believable for Star Trek, but they did it. This was an amazing adventure and I throughly enjoyed the ride. You don't need to be a Star Trek fan to appreciate this Sci-Fi flick, but it doesn't hurt. Great cast, storyline, and special effects. I also like the steel case because that makes it extra special for my collectin.

I was a fan of the TV show in the 70's, even a fan of a few of the spin-offs later on. Not so much a fan of the original movies after the first one. But the last few movies have been really fantastic. Great visual effects, great story lines and actually some really good acting. Not afraid to spend the money on the combo set Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital copies as I will watch in all forms.

I'm not that of a big fan of the tv series of Star Trek and I was introduced to Star Trek with the last 3 paramount movies and I so far they keep getting better and better. This movie is a really solid and entertaining never a dull moment, is one of those weird franchises that keep actually getting better and better.... well the one negative part is why do the enterprise has to be destroyed every single movie? Anyways is really enjoyable.... the artwork for this steel book was amazing I loved it

It seems that many Trekkies have not been thrilled with the newer StarTrek films. The plot of this movie had some weaknesses in it as well, but the interactions of the cast members offset that, especially between Spock and Bones. Watching on a 4k TV with HDR really brought the film to life. It more than offset some of the weaknesses in the plot. All in all, it was an enjoyable film.

In my opinion this latest Star Trek entry is better than the reboot of the wrath of kahn, the last movie. This one had several little plot twists and turns that really keeps you intrigued. 3D wise, no complaints especially when the enterprise is bombarded by the enemy and the ending sequence is presented well in 3D. Overall you just can't beat the entertainment value of the movie.

I saw this in the theater and had to add it to my collection. Despite my early disappointment with the movies changing the timeline and rendering most the franchises null and void, I have to admit that I have enjoyed all the movies. The story is good, the special effects are great, and there is steady stream of fast paced action. If you like the movies, this one doesn't disappoint.

I truly enjoyed every minute of it (!) and am glad to see this film fly off into a unique direction in order to Go where they have NEVER been before. Great Military Minded Movie...

Star Trek Beyond pits the crew of the Enterprise against another megalomaniac who wants to punish the United Federation of Planets for its perceived sins. It's the best of the new "Trek" films, but it's still an unsatisfying effort if you want it to be something more than a military-minded outer space action flick, with familiar, beloved characters shoehorned into a standard mix of martial arts slugfests, close-quarters firefights, and scenes of starships and cities being shredded and burned.

For its 3rd installment in the latest reboot we are still delving into the psychology of a young Captain Kirk and crew. I think this was all covered in the first two films and would like to see the crew simply combat new world views that arent trying to destroy good old earth. Great sfx as expected and the humor is barely on par with the prequels but has its moments. I would recommend this to both trekkies an non-trekkies but hope the next films action stays 'where no one has gone before'

Being a Trekkie of course my papa past the love down to his kids. This new cast of Star Trek my papa really enjoyed. When the new movies would come out a twinkle would shine in his eyes. He would have loved this newest installment, he past just before the release. New species and story lines to follow. They have done a great job of pulling in new fans and satisfying the old.

For the true fans of the rebooted Star Trek franchise. This movie packs in the action that any Trekkie wants to see but also gives the Chekov character a nice sendoff with the amount of screen time he was provided. I thought the introduction of a new ally to the cast will help infuse the storyline of the next and future movies in the series. This story rewards the loyal fans.

This is the 13th installment in the franchise and the 3rd in the reboot series with Chris Pine as Captn Kirk. This adventure finds the crew 3 years into their 5 year mission. From a re-supply space station, the Enterprise is sent on a rescue mission, which winds up to be an ambush by the federation's avowed enemy, Krall, who wants to destroy all of star fleet. Lots of action!

I enjoyed Star Trek "Beyond" in both the theater and then again at home. It's a very good movie that continues to further broaden the new generation of Star Trek characters. Heavy in CGI technology, it's definitely eye candy for those that love a lot of action, explosions, and battles. The movie is a little lighter in non-lead character development but heavy in action, so many will like that. The movie is a notch below the first two in the series, but still a fun cinematic experience,

They brought the "fun" back to Star Trek with the most recent entry. I thought the film took the franchise back to it's roots of exploration. There are plenty of campy moments of course (this is Star Trek, afterall). I was surprised how well director, Justin Lin, handled the 2nd sequel to the rebooted series after only having seen his Fast & Furious films. If you've seen the movie then you can certainly tell that Simon Pegg had a hand in writing after seeing his character's arc! Enjoy!

Star Trek Beyond is the newest in the (new) Star Trek franchise of movies. This movie had great action sequences, special effects, and CGI. They also worked in about Lenard Nimoy's (Spock's) death. Also, the alien character played by Sofia Boutella was not only beautiful, but also had some great martial arts/fighting moves. Will be watching this DVD over and over again.

This sequel was a lot better than Into Darkenss in my opinion. It was much more of it's own story and had a more "episodic" feel like the old tv shows. Bluray + Digital Copy is awesome, I am a huge fan of physical discs, but it's nice to be able to load up my vudu account on my tablet and watch movies in bed when I'm sick. Love love love the digital offering with it.

This one suffered at the hands of critics and fans, but I still enjoy watching again every so often. New characters are great, Bones is hilarious and the sound track is awesome, I mean come on - beastie boys as "classical music" and fits perfectly. Awesome effects and music on the home theater Simon Pegg is a genius and deserves an oscar!
