This 3rd sequel to the Star Trek series is considered the best yet. Great storyline and acting. Bittersweet knowing that this is Anton Yelchin's last time with the crew. I was never a Trekkie growing up, but the big screen versions have been a pleasure to watch. Definitely glad to make this part of my movie collection.

Justin Lin chartered his own course by shooting on 3.4K and 6K digital cameras. The flatter contrast level, especially in the darker scenes, holds up on both the 4K and Blu-ray discs. The daylight scenes are more striking, with richer colors and more detail in the shots of Yorktown (credit the 4K/HDR expansive levels).

There was a different tone for this movie with Abrams handing over the reins and the writers involved but it was a cool change of pace. The UHD version is great but that's to be expected. I haven't watched a standard Blu ray version so I can't compare but I'm expecting the gap to widen more and more over time.

I bought this movie for the purpose of testing out my TV to make it sweat a little and I have to say the scenes are great and it's also a great benchmark for your TV due to the multiple bright and dark color scenes and with the space views from the ship you can see how deep the blacks on your TV can go. Thanks to this movie I returned my tv for a better model due to slight grey black levels and I'm very happy now.

I am so happy with the reboot of this series! Star Trek fans have to love this, it is so true to the original series. And Simon Pegg delivered a great script! The inside jokes are a hoot! I get that people who are not fans may not care for this movie as much as I did; it is more serial than epic. But it works for me!

I enjoy this Star Trek film very my favorite part was when they included an NX model of star ship which was featured in the series Enterprise with Scott Bakula. I feel that series is largely ignored by the Star Trek series and I loved to see that series represented in this movie. Great film! I would recommend this and the 3D is pretty good too. I feel the 3D could be better, but it's definitely not bad at all.

Chose the Best Buy exclusive because of the steel book. For me it was the most attractive offer. I enjoyed this Star Trek movie because of the comedic bits that highlighted the relationship between the main characters. The young actress who played the alien is the same one from Kingsman with the high kicking heels.

While this isn't the Star Trek of my youth in tone or theme, it is fun. Filled with action and effects, the focus is definitely on plot over characters, but it's an enjoyable ride. Jaylah alone makes it worth watching. Image quality and all that was great as well. I'm not big on extras, so I can't comment on those.

I am a Trek fan, and own all of the movies and TV shows (except DS9 & Enterprise), and enjoy them all. This movie was very entertaining, and a nice modernization to make it more closer to what the future might be. It's also nice to see strong female characters, and not just window dressing like in the old series. It felt like something was missing for Star Trek, like a deeper meaning, but good to watch anyway!

This latest installment of the Star Trek re-boot is the best so far in my estimation. There is more character development and the story line is more in keeping with those in the original series than was the case with the previous two. This particular package is a good deal--multiple formats for a reasonable price.

The movie relies a bit too much on action and special effects, as do so many sci-fi movies, bit it's a fun movie to watch nevertheless. The "steelbook" aspect is not essential, but makes it just that little bit extra special. Yelchin and Nimoy, to whom the movie is dedicated, would be very proud of this movie, and rightly so.

Oh Yea!! Star Trek Lives!! I'll miss you Chekov. ~sigh~ They did such a great job in casting the original crew!! Must have it in 3D!! Thank You Best Buy for stocking it!! Remember, buy Blu-Ray's, don't stream --- Don't trust your favorite movies to someone elses server - it may not be there when you want it!!

4K res and an HDR, how could it get any better? With an almost 4K film capture and then downscaled to a 2K master and then upscaled back to 4K, it looks pretty amazing. Mmmm and then the Beastie Boys scene @75db with my receiver in Dolby Atmos, forget about it. Excellent flick to watch in the dark on an LG OLED.

Great movie. The steelbook edition is neat. We typically don't get this version of movies, but it was the only one available. The one thing I don't like is that the movie summary that they ususally print on the back is printed on a separate sheet of paper. Still wish it was printed on the back of the steelbook.

The third movie in the JJAbrams Star Trek universe continues the "Trek" story with another power-packed adventure. True Trek fans will like this movie and Trek "purists" will probably hate it. The movie has awesome special effects as we have come to expect and the story line is pretty good. It's always hard to see the Enterprise [spoiler removed]! Just get this movie, watch it and enjoy it for what it is.

Bought this not having seen the reviews but given the success of the previous two movies I was suspecting something less. Very pleasantly surprised. Interesting character turns from the main players and a good, fast paced story with normal high standard of effects. Both my wife and I really enjoyed this movie.

I was informed during my last visit that 3D movies were being "phased out" so I'm grabbing anything & everything in terms of movies I love that are available in 3D. This is one of my favorites, I would recommend to anyone whether you are looking for 3D or not. The Science Fiction are some of the best though.

The movie started like a typical TV episode for the first 10 minutes, but the story heats up quickly afterward. Non-stop actions and the pace is intense throughout the movie. I really enjoy it and will watch it over and over again. The only thing I do not like is the producer decide to include the death of Leonard Nimoy into this movie. It is an odd gesture and I think it hurts the movie than helps it.

Although the first two movies of the Star Trek reboot were great fun and full of action and excitement, they were still lacking in originality. The third installment, Star Trek: Beyond, had all of the above plus an original story line and plenty of surprises for TOS fans as well as new fans alike. The movie had humor and humanity and had me feeling for the characters more than the previous two titles.

In my opinion, the first Star Trek film in this series is till the best, but with that being said, this was still a very entertaining film. The story was a bit predictable and nothing that you haven't seen before in plots, but the casting of these films and their chemistry with each other is always well worth watching. I'd say don't go into the film with any great expectations and just enjoy the ride.
