Had wanted to see this in the theaters, but nowadays they don't last very long. So time slipped away and missed it. Until it came out on dvd, which frankly is a cheaper alternative when you have a family of 4 to head to the movies. Storyline for this one is very good, and by that I mean entertaining. You have to lose your sense of reality when you watch the motorcycle scene with a 21st century motorcycle, not the type Kirk/Chris Pine rode in the first movie of his genre. But then again, isn't that we watch science fiction/fantasy movies in the first place?!

Completing the trilogy Star Trek Beyond comes full circle. With a feeling of actually being on a different planet for an entire movie really gives you the since of what it would be like to be apart of the Enterprise. I loved this film and my wife and daughter did also. We couldn't wait for it to come out on Blu-ray and we got the moment it did. I enjoyed the first two films of tbis franchise and this third one is just as good. As each film got better with each different story line I enjoyed each a d everyone of these film. Beyond is a must have hands down.

The movie itself is pretty great and is an all around fun film. The cast is all back and ready to deliver another performance as the crew of The Enterprise. Now the film is fun and has some good comedy but I'm here to boast about the case. Best Buy does a good job of offering a collectible steel book for the blu-ray purchase. That is why i keep going back to Best Buy. I recommend purchasing one of these steel book movies yourself and take a gander. They look awesome in my collection and I praise these for as long as they are in Blu-Ray format.

Paramount missed a golden opportunity to market this film for Star Trek's 50th Anniversary! This should have been the number one film of the summer and instead struggled to make back it's budget due mostly to showcasing action vs. story for the marketing...which this movie has action but brings with it the story and characters that Trek is know for. I think the original crew cast would have been proud to have been a part of this new story and can only hope that Paramount doesn't cut the budget for the next installment because this film worked!

Say what you will about the movie itself, though I quite enjoyed it, but the artwork and cinematography are beautiful. This comes through quite well in the steelbook artwork. Pretty much a rework of the overall style of one of the official posters for the movie, though that doesn't detract from it, this steelbook is gorgeous. If you're a steelbook collector, and especially if you've been collecting the steelbooks in the JJ Abrams universe, then I highly recommend picking this one up if you can.

I really enjoyed this movie. It has a very good pace and doesn't draw anything out. Honestly, if you enjoyed the first movie (or both) you will enjoy this one. The visuals are really vibrant and the story is manages to stay fun while keeping some serious tone. If this is your first time watching anything Star Trek and your interested, start with the first film in this trilogy as it will get you a little better acquainted with the characters in this version. If you don't like Star Trek or JJ Abrams version this won't change your mind.

And the Oscar for best use of a Beastie Boys song in a movie goes to...honestly I had been so excited to see this movie from the minute the trailers dropped last year, I think the trailer played ahead of Star Wars The Force Awakens in December 2015...and when the movie came out over the summer we saw it in IMAX 3D. This was the first of the new Star Trek movies that played like an episode of the original TV show...just longer. I loved it, especially the last act....highly recommended. Get the sweet steelbook if they're still available

Remember in the Search for Spoke when Kirk said: My God, what have I done? And McCoy replies: What you had to do, what you always do. Turn death into a fighting chance to live. I feel as though that is the James Kirk we see here (although younger). In this film, I feel we have finally returned to the final frontier. And our captains his top officer and a new comrade go head to head to challenge the odds in a new thrilling new adventure. This is not a previous story retold with a different twist. This is Star Trek the next adventure…

I am a life long Star Trek fan, and I have enjoyed all incarnations of Star Trek. I know the alternative "Kelvin Timeline" of Star Trek created by J.J. Abrams is not universally enjoyed, but I have grown to enjoy the incarnation. I was a bit concerned when it was announced that Abrams would not Direct this movie and after seeing the first trailer I was not expecting much when I sat down to watch this movie. However, the movie pleasantly surprised me. It is a well written and paced movie. Plenty of action here and some great nods to Star Trek lore, including the era of the 22nd Century that was explored in Star Trek Enterprise (MACOs!). If you are a Star trek fan, you will enjoy this movie.

I still like these DVD and Blueray packages because so many portable DVD players (in cars for example) still don't play BlueRay. So you can take one on the run and keep one at home - free of road scratches. This set comes in a metal case instead of plastic. Nice case that stays closed and is not much thicker than the normal plastic ones. There is also the HD digital code so you can watch on your non-dvd device. Movie is great - i've really enjoyed this new cast and plenty of action - don't miss the out-takes. 13 and over for those.

Really enjoyed this film in the theaters and when I purchased it on Blu-ray, I was not disappointed. Visually the film has vibrancy and depth and great contrast, even in the faster moving scenes. The story gets back to deeper plots of purpose and being lost without a focus. As has been in the past films, the chemistry of cast is superb and dialogue is delivered well. The sound is top tier and really shines with the subtle surround channels adding the ambiance of "being there". Some scenes do pack a bass punch and the use of more contemporary music in key scenes is fun and lively. Both the visual presentation and audio presentation will benefit the most from a good quality HT system.

Star Trek Beyond changes it up with more comedy than Into Darkness that comes from half of the writing staff, Simon Pegg, Scotty in the series. It also gets into the personalities of more of the Trek staff involved in separate events and demonstrates how they all come together in the end. Really fantastic CG and fun, unexpected music during a big fight scene and really fun to see with the staffs reactions. Deals with life events and decisions that we all have to make at one time or the other only not on the same scale. :)

This 3rd installment may not be the best of the three but you will not be disappointed. The visual cinematography, storyline, and action is not to be missed. All I can say is when is part 4 coming out. I watched the rob show when I was a kid and wondered how can this compete??? Well it not only competes it crushes the tv show and destroys the old movies. Those not into Star Trek like my teenagers are now fans and have watched each movie at least 3 times. Yes my teenagers watched it more than twice you heard right.....

While I'm by no means a "Trekkie" I did enjoy watching this movie in the theater and do like most of the Star Trek movies and tv series to some extent. The special effects in this movie are very good and there is a lot of action and just enough of a touch of comedy. Since I enjoy 3d very much I was pleased to find this movie is one of an ever dwindling number of titles to be released in 3d. It's even harder to find a late model tv which supports 3d (what a shame.) I think any Star Trek fan will love this movie!

You don't have to be a diehard Star Trek fan to enjoy Star Trek Beyond. You don't even need to know anything about the characters. That said, Star Trek fans should enjoy this movie. Lots of action and humor. And keeping personality traits of the characters from the original series without the actors merely doing imitations makes for a nice continuity being the old and the new. There were a couple things in the plot that were less than perfect, but we overlooked them, and just sat back and enjoyed the movie.

Another one-liner from Bones in an action packed version of the new Star Trek series. I know there are a lot of purists out there that really didn't bond with the new cast. But, I enjoy all versions of the Trek genre. I own the original series on DVD and all the movies made thus far - this one included. Don't expect a significant screen play, but the action and special effects are great. And, all the old traits of the Enterprise crew are delivered by the actors who stayed true to the original characters. Only thing that kept me from 5 starts is the action bogs down a bit in the sphere and the outcome is predictable....aren't they all. Still, a great sci-fy ride.

Perhaps the best movie in the new franchise, rebooted in the first movie by J.J. Abrams in 2009. This time, the crew of the "Enterprise", while trying to rescue a crew stranded in a planet, get attacked by a swarm of small ships led by the ruthless Krall (Idris Elba). Now our favorite crew has to do their best to get out of the planet and prevent an attack over the Federation. The Blu-Ray extras, though a bit short, are very enlightening, including a touching tribute to Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin.

I like the Star Trek reboot. In many ways they keep the best of the original series with the ability to do so much digitally. And that may be the issue. There are points where the action drags on too long so you miss the dialogue. And "story" was what made good Star Trek movies, series good. Evidently receipts were down for this one so it could be the last, I hope not because I'd still like to see that great story with a big less digital effects. Still, it is an exciting movie that features snappy dialogue and acknowledgement of our losing Lenard Nimoy. Oh, I do think it's a limited concept to keep destroying the Enterprise. You don't have to copy everything!

I really enjoyed this Star Trek sequel. When I saw the previews, I thought the previews might end up being better than the movie, but not so. This movie was really good. It had great action, a great plot, and you really connected with the characters. I love it when a movie can "take me away", and this one truly took me to "a galaxy, far, far away" (corny, I know). But I was very surprised at how much I liked this movie. I would definitely recommend this movie (and you don't have to be a trekkie to enjoy)!
