We saw this movie while it was in the theaters and really enjoyed the action and the continuation of the star trek saga with this newer, younger generation. This continues the series of the TV "prequels" and actually follows the story line from the TV series very well. Everything fits in with the overall story and really feels like you are watching episodes you missed before...just better graphics and plots...but they stayed true to the ship and costume design. Very well done, great plot and great action.

I don't like how they sell a 4K and a 3D in separate packages and ask us to buy 2 Blu Rays and 2 digital downloads if we want a 3D and a 4K copy. Also why are digitals included? It just increases the prices on people who don't have enough bandwidth to use the digital copy. We go to Best Buy because we don't have enough bandwidth to enjoy download movies. I'd rather have 4K + 3D than either 3D or 4K + digital. Otherwise the movie is more along the line of the more Action-based Star Treks Abrahms started, even more so than when Abrahms was directing. first 15 minutes was boring but is important for the end. Not as deep thinking as the TV series episodes.

It is extremely rare for sequels to receive high-favorable ratings from both critics and moviegoers. Star Trek has managed to do it with two follow ups to the reboot. Beyond is a highly action packed movie with clever dialogue and some funny one-liner moments. This new set of Trek films I think can be appreciated both by true Trekkies and new fans to the films. The action scenes are mind blowing as well. A very entertaining movie and one worth owning, even if you haven't seen it. All three from the reboot are worth watching over more then once. I highly recommend this movie to any one who's a fan of good Sci-Fi action flicks. You won't be disappointed.

The movie is one of if not the best Star Trek movie out of the new trilogy. I think they are all great though. the UHD 4K provides a great picture. Im still seeing some issues that is apparent in other 4k movies as well. Sometimes blacks seems washed out or "greyed out" also, for some reason, once again, hollywood tends to release 2k or 3k movies then adjust for 4k. There are very few actual native 4k UHD movies out there. Overall the picture quality is great especially in all the parts that are CGI.

In this third installments of the rebooted Star Trek franchise, the director took it to a whole new level. The cinematography is so different from the first 2 versions, where the director uses a lot of back light to create the dramatic and tense experience. In this installment, the new director uses various angles and camera movements to create a whole new experience that sets it apart from the first 2. The dialog is smart and heart warming. It's an experience that I would enjoy it over and over.

If you are a Star Trek fan, this is a fun and entertaining movie. If you are not a fan or have not seen the previous two movies in this reboot series, it is better than the second but the first one is still better. Visuals, action, and score are all good. The villain is a bit underdeveloped but there is an interesting twist to his story and motivation. The steelbook presentation is a welcome change over the flimsy plastic cases and it did not cost anything more for the premium look/feel.

I thought star trek beyond was an excellent movie. You can read many reviews about why it was a great movie and reasons why others may have thought differently. I always purchase the Blu ray dvd and digital hd so that i can view the movie on any smart tv laptop or mobile device. The dvd enables me to watch the movie on a legacy device like in my truck or camper. And Blu ray is always good for when u have a player and big screen tv. I have not had a chance to view any special features.

This new Star Trek movie hits the mark. If you are somewhat or totally into Star Trek films, Beyond keeps the action going with wonderful cuts of humor interlaced. Plot is not new but the filmmakers do such a great job presenting the and twisting the plot, there is never a dull moment. Beyond is a great movie that will appeal to even the casual viewer. Oh did I mention the great special effects, the great interaction with the characters, and the action scenes? They are all top notch.

I really enjoyed the first two rebooted Star Trek films. The cast is great and the characters were well developed during those movies. The third, feels more like a TV episode. Presumably, by now, the filmmakers believe the audience to be familiar with each character, so there is little character development. This is too bad, because the primary antagonist (played by the wonderful Idris Elba) got little screen time (particularly in the first half of the movie). Most people, however, are purchasing for special effects, which the movie delivers in spades. Overall, fun movie for a Saturday night; nothing more, nothing less.

Star Trek has been exciting imaginations for 50 years now and the newest installment in popular franchise is no exception. Star Trek Beyond takes the viewer on a fantastic escape from the everyday. It's Humorous, moving, action packed and thoughtful. It is everything we love about Star Trek, The 3D effects do not pop out of the screen but the movie has depth and if you already dropped the dough on the 3D TV the added cost to get the 3D edition will not break your bank.

I saw the movie on the big screen and liked it a lot. It is entertaining, action packed, visually nice, funny at times and good acting. The story is not bad either. It is not as good as the first Star TreK movie re-booth that came out with this cast a few years back, but it is still a good movie. The Blu Ray disc is very good and has excellent video and audio with some bonus material. The disc also comes with DVD and a UV digital copy, which is a big plus. The price at Best Buy, as always, was really good. If you are a Star Trek fan or you like good science fiction movies, go for this one. Highly recommended.

If you've watched the last two entries in the Star Trek series, the whole cast is back again. It has the familiar sense of humor that the franchise is known for, as well as a seemingly unbeatable and mysterious enemy. I've always enjoyed Star Trek and it's vision of a better world. It's true Sci-fi and excites the imagination. The special effects were well done and the blu ray quality is clear and crisp with bright colors.This seemed to be the brightest (color and lighting) of the trek trilogy. Haven't watched it with a surround sound system yet, so I'm unsure of the audio. It sounded fine on my Samsung suhd TV.

I absolutely love all three of the reboot films. I personally feel using an alternative timeline was brilliant. The actors are phenomenal and the storylines have been fun. This movie was action packed but also focused on serious issues that many of us must grapple with at some point in our lives. I enjoyed watching this in the theater and again at home with my kids. I love the fact this version also comes with a digital version so I can play on my computer, phone or iPad.

I have been a fan of Star Trek for over forty years and it never gets old. I still can't get over how the producers found actors that really capture the essence of the original actors. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, and others easily fill the shoes of the original cast. Karl Urban does a better 'Bones' than the original, played by DeForest Kelley. Anyway, Star Trek Beyond was another great ride through the universe and I hope that this franchise never EVER ends.

It continues the Star Trek story. Good action. The "death toast" to Chekov was rather poorly woven into the BEGINNING of the move, not the end. He was in the entire movie! But Trekkies will overlook the continuity flaw. Movie is a welcome addition to ALL the ST movies I have...even all the old TV shows. Saw it in the 3D theater and was very anxious for the Blu-Ray to come out. Best Buy usually has the best prices! If you like ST, Si-Fi, & space movies.......get it.

Even though this movie didn't perform as well at the box office as its two predecessors, I think it was the best one yet. And here’s why: The characters and their relationships were more fully developed and more like the original cast – that makes it fun instantly! And secondly, the effects are AMAZING. You’ll want to watch it numerous times just to take it all in. ENJOY!

I LOVE this cast. Everyone is perfect as these classic characters. The different timeline is familiar, but just different enough. We get a weary Kirk, who is unsure if the captain's chair is what he truly wants. A Spock that is dealing with losses of his own. The Bones/Spock relationship is deepened in this one. The villian is played by a great actor, but is once again someone disgruntled with Starfleet. Still a very enjoyable film, I hope they keep making them.

I have seen complaints online that not everyone likes the new direction of the Star Trek movies. The newer J. J Abrams movies have tended towards big action sequences, chases and fights rather than the more personal stories of the original series...oh and of course the signature Abrams lens flares. I guess I don't have a huge problem with the new focus. The movies are certainly entertaining while still retaining a lot of the humor and individual moments between the characters. I don't like to go into much detail about the individual movie to avoid spoilers but suffice to say I did enjoy this one.

In general, Star Trek Movies do well in the theaters but not exceptional. I guess, the number of Star Trekkies are reduced for the young. I really like this movie. It is a bit different than the last two by JJ Abrams. Certainly a lot of action. I wish more people attend these movies even though they may not have followed Star Trek in the past. Star Trek has had a phenomenal success over the years. I look forward to another Star Trek movie. I enjoy all of them.

Kirk and crew return in this latest installment of JJ Abrams vision of the Star Trek universe. This is a fun and pretty good sic fi movie. It is a much better sequel than the last movie (though I did enjoy the last one). The characters are more interesting and the storyline moves the plot along at a smooth pace. I do recommend this movie if you enjoy action sci fi or have enjoyed the previous two. If you didn't like the others, you won't like this one.
