I loved this movie. I thought it was very well done and the plot fit very well into the new story line for this version of Star Trek. I saw a lot of complains as this one did not follow the same plot as the original one, but with the introduction of time travel in the 1st movie and the death of Kirk's Father, this series is free to go anyway it wants. The fact that they are using familiar characters but in new ways is great. Can't wait to see the next one.

I really enjoy this movie as well as the other two Star Trek reboots. However, you haven't really seen it until you experience it in 4k with HDR. The opening scenes on the planet where Kirk and "Bones" are running to escape the locals is a "Wow" moment and will be used to show off my system. *Hint* Best But sells it two ways; one is clearance for $10 less and one isn't. Both are exactly the same in every way.

Very compelling storyline, and superb casting made for an extremely entertaining film. I do like the reboot that Abrams has brought to the Star Trek series. The alternate storyline makes sense, and while a departure from the classic series, it fits the atmosphere of the original very well. While sometimes dark, this sequel was even more well written and better acted than the first Star Trek film, and Cumberbatch is a compelling villain and steals the show.

The acting is typical Star Trek; a little over the top. But the cast pulls it all together and puts on a great show. The special effects are great as well. There are plenty of shots of the Enterprise in space as well as lots of alien makeup that is literally out of this world. Without giving anything away the tribute they paid to the original series was very well done. If you have not seen the first movie you should check that out and then watch this one.

I always have a problem with alternate universe stories. They have to be very well done for me to find them anything but irritating. This one, while not perfect, managed. With the personalities of some of the main characters, Kirk in particular, seriously altered from the original Star Trek, I did have some problems with this movie. Why not just change the names and title and admit it had nothing to do with the original TV series? On the plus side, decent writing and good acting helped to gloss over the problems. Even with my bias against alternate reality stories, I enjoyed this movie.

We had seen this movie before and knew it was good, but we bought the 4K version to test our new 4K Atmos home theater with. Seeing it on a large screen with high resolution video and enveloping sound, this movie did not disappoint once again. Lots of action and vivid color which was perfect to put our system to the test. If you're wanting a good movie for your 4K player, this is a good choice!

The plot is sensible and pacing is well done. Some great set pieces and action. This film really looks great when the IMAX scenes open up to a full screen image (on television) and a high amount of detail and clarity is always present on faces and clothes. Some cg effects aren't as convincing, with a softness not helping. But it usually looks great. Lastly the sound is clean, dynamic and moves smoothly across all channels matching what plays on screen properly.

If you are a watcher of anything StarTrek then this one fits the bill. I have watched all the series as they have been produced in varying forms. The movies also as some might think different series or movies lack one thing or another, I like them all as they follow the original idea of adventure to other planets...this one hits that on the head. If you like anything StarTrek, then you should like this movie!

I am a big fan of JJ Abrams, so will give him a pass for basically rehashing Wrath of Khan with a few twists. I am looking forward to the next installment where I am hoping he sends the crew on some new adventures rather than just trying to dredge up nostalgia from the original series and films. Those all stand on their own and most of us own or have at least seen the stories so it is time for something new. Here's hoping he boldly goes where none of the previous series have gone (though I'm guessing at some point the crew will encounter either Q or the Borg since they are wildly popular among fans).

I know that some people feel like the modern Star Trek films are focusing too much on action, and less on science and intellect. I disagree. They are definitely more exciting and, frankly, better for it. I love the original Star Trek films, but now it is more for nostalgia. Anyways, this film looks great in UHD. I also believe that the soundtrack sounds a better than the initial blu-ray.

I picked up the 4K edition while it was on sale for $15. I've gotten so used to watching 4K discs now, I don't notice much difference in quality since I tend to not go back to watching any of my bluray 1080p discs. Dolby Atmos is decent. The movie overall is entertaining and is worth adding to my overall collection, and is a movie that carries the ability to watch again whenever.

Having just purchased the Xbox One S and the LG 65UH7700, I wanted to try them out with a solid 4K Ultra HD movie. Star Trek: Into Darkness was a great choice. Superb colors and an amazing sound across all components. The movie itself is great also, combining the new Star Trek cast with probably the greatest Star Trek story there has been. Plenty of action and visuals for everyone.

If you loved the "first" movie (reboot of the franchise), you'll definitely appreciate this installment. I was never a Star Trek fan until J.J. Abrams opened my mind to the amazing world of Star Trek. It's unfortunate it took so long for me to appreciate what Star Trek was truly about because I could've enjoyed the t.v. series with my older brother when we were adolescences growing up. Great stuff!

I love this movie. Wonderfully casted actors who played a modern version of classic TOS characters. Story line is an interesting spin on TOS movies. A lot more about action and explosions while also being less cerebral than classic Star Trek which is my only complaint. I wish it had a little more feel as classic Star Trek but this is a very entertaining and well-done movie all around,

This the 12th installment in the Star Trek franchise, this sequel to the 2009 STAR TREK, will excite those who have been Trekkies from the beginning. The plot is the background of a crucial enemy of star fleet and also some star fleet background from before Kirk went on his 5 year mission. After seeing this film, it makes you want to go back and view The Wrath of Khan all over again.

This movie has three advantages, director J.J. Abrams is back from the first movie. Two, his vision of what he started in the first movie is expanded and enlarged on in this the second movie of the reboot of the franchise. Three, the role of Khan, the series probably most famous nemesis, is filled out by the actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who manages not only to do a great job as a super villain also manages to bring empathy to the role. All of these things combine to make this a great movie and the best in the series in my opinion.

I think that "Star Trek: Into Darkness" was one of the greatest films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite films of all-time. I have seen and enjoyed this film several times and I also think that "Star Trek: Into Darkness" had a lot of entertaining, exciting and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense including an amazing and original suspenseful storyline.

I think this one will always be one of my favorite movies. The UHD version has more noticeable differences than the first Star Trek's UHD version. The scene at the beginning with the primitive culture is a great example of the improvement. The scene looked fantastic on the standard Blu ray but in UHD with HDR it just looks breathtaking. Definitely happy with my purchase.

It is just spectacular to watch this movie in 3D; it gives you a totally different visual experience in comparison with a regular, not 3D movie. The 3D is a revolution in the TV technology, on par if not greater than the 4K or HDR. I don't know why major TV manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, LG decided not to continue with the 3D technology. It is a big mistake.

Into Darkness is a terrific film and a worthy addition to the Star Trek domain. The reworking of the legendary Khan character so wonderfully created by Ricardo Montalban is clever and Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect in this incarnation. Technically the HDR image is excellent with vibrant colors, contrast and brightness. Into Darkness is a keeper for anyone with a 4K TV.
