The HDR color palette does bring a nice bit of tonal upgrade to the film, though it's more of a reinforcement rather than a recreation. Viewers will note fantastic white elements on Hoth, even seen from orbit for the first time as the probe droid enters the atmosphere. The snow is crisp, more brilliant and pure than ever before. The same can be said of Echo Base's snowy dugout interiors and, of course, storm trooper uniforms. Lightsabers enjoy amplified intensity in the final act when Vader and Luke square off in some lower-light areas within the city's bowels. Yoda's green skin and the murky Dagobaah sequences present with firmer depth while more naturally illuminated Cloud City locations spring to life with newfound vibrance. Black levels are superior here, whether outer space, shadowy corners, or Vader's costume. Skin tones appear nicely accurate as well. Overall, though, the UHD is a disappointment but at the same time the best the film has ever looked for home viewing.

My second favorite star wars. This movie is a must have if you have a 4k blu ray player. Looks amazing even considering it was made in the 80s.

Original classic and in 4K physical media on sale for 14.99 at best buy. If don't have it in your collection you need to stop by and pick it up.

Finally, the original series in 4K. If you are like me you will keep buying every new release and enjoy them all over again. I guess 8k is next.

4k looks fantastic. 4k Digital code is an added bonus. one of the few that is absolutely worth a repurchase to 4k.

I wasn't sure how much better these films would look in 4K. They do. If you have a nice 4K TV and are an nerd, purchase them....

Video quality and Dolby Atmos soundtrack incredible. Hopefully the last time I have to buy this one... LD, DVD, Blu Ray and finally 4K.

This is the best movie of the star wars movies. better looking than the blue ray and better sound worth the upgrade.

Its Star Wars, need i say more? I bought the first release of Star Wars on Blu Ray a few years back. Although the packaging is nice, i dont like how you have to remove and put back disks into the sleeves. I also didnt care for the artwork. My brother has requested all 6 movies on blu ray so i bought the re-released 6 disk collection only to return it a week later when i heard they were releasing them individually in steel book. Yes you loose the 3 disks of bonus content, but the steel books look so much nicer. Almost want to pick up a set for myself. The bonus content on these is extremely limited, just commentary, which is kind of disappointing, but i rarely watch bonus content anyways...

I have been a Star Wars Fan since the beginning when I was 7 and these 4K transfers are great.

The Best and the Darkest of the Original Films. Epic Plot Twist that still gets people to this day, great film. Looks great in 4K.

Looks great in 4K. Wish it was the original (non Special Edition) though. I don’t have Atmos Surround so not sure how the audio is.

finally have Empire on 4k, I grew up on these movies and they were a great price!

This movie is definitely one that I go back and rewatch. The transfer over to 4K looks good but because this is an older movie there is only so much they can do. The sound doesn't seem to get any boost from the transfer. Still one of the best in the Star Wars string of movies.

This is the climax for which the Star Wars universe revolves. This is the movie with the revelation that will shape the life of our hero, the Jedi Knight in training, Luke Skywalker. Through the mystic teachings of the Jedi Master Yoda, Luke will learn that the Dark Side also resides in him. We will learn the awsome power the Empire holds that the rebels must overcome. And in the final battle we will discover Darth Vader's secret. And in the end.... there is no end. The story is left right in the middle. Until my next review of "Return of the Jedi". This is the most dramatic and revealing of the series. This is problably the greatest Sci-Fi movie ever.
