I never got to see this on screen nor on blue ray. Unless the movie was purposely shot this way some scenes are dark, and I don't mean with the force. Sometimes I can't tell what's being said and have to watch with captions on. Sometimes I can hear the musical score and sometimes it's drowned out. Perhaps the movie was like this. I was going to get the other edition until I found out the bonus material only is on the blue ray disc, I find this disturbing. After watching this twice the disc had started to skip and freeze (oh really it's cold?). Unless the movie was like this it seems chopped up and poorly edited. Perhaps the blue ray may be worth my selling a few rathtars to get better quality, don't know. As far as the movie itself (spoilers ahead) as a lifetime star wars not I find the recycled plot disturbing and some vital information is missing that is in the book but not the movie. And if you're waiting to see Luke who is listed second in the cast yet has probably 3 second part with no lines. Parts of the plot make no sense based on previous films since if Luke is gone Leia was supposed to be the last Jedi and save the galaxy.It's nice to see some of the original cast but time hasn't been kind to any of them. The new star is Rey not Finn as was advertised and sorry but they try really hard to force us to love her and I just can't. The same goes for Poe. I love Finn, a defecting stormtrooper and General Hux who doesn't flinch when superiors throw a fit. Kylo Ren is a disgrace to villians in any star wars movie and can be injured even by jar jar binks in my opinion. The feeling from A New Hope is there because its recycled. Oddly I still enjoy it despite all these huge problems, maybe j.j. Abrams plays a Jedi mind trick on me. The sequel better step up, it's our only hope. But I got a bad feeling about this....

Disney gave the 4K treatment to all the Star Wars films. I bought this to add to my 4K collection. The films pictures seems better, I would not buy if you already have the Blu-ray. they are very close

The 4K on my LG C1 is phenomenal. Glad I purchased them in this format as well. Not sure how many more copies I need of these but hey, 8k right haha

Star Ward lives on! Under Disney’s Guidance, it holds up!

It was happy but sad. I love the new characters and old.

After George Lucas's years of gratuitous cg tweaking to the original Star Wars trilogy (many changes were good, but several were just plain bad), and mishandling his own source material in the prequels-- we have a new Star Wars to continue the story of our old heroes and introduce some new ones. All in all, well done. The new characters were terriffic, and it was great to see some familiar faces. But i won't belabor the film itself-- this is a special edition steelbook offered exclusively by Best Buy. After purchasing the individual steels of the prior 6 films, my OCD brain needed to maintain shelf continuity. In many ways, this package delivers. My only faults with it are minor-- the image on back should be the film poster, not Phasma. The font on the spine is altered in size and color, which is a little distracting. But overall, it's the best we'll ever get so i'm satisfied.

If you like the Star Wars series this is a good buy to get.

When Star Wars originally came out it was a box-office phenom. I personally watched it 8 times! Never before had my generation seen such special effects or such imaginative staging and costuming. We were hooked! Since then, every sci-fi movie made has tried to match or has built on the effects and styles pioneered in Star Wars IV. While "the force awakens" does not meet the awe-inspiring level of attraction, it DOES deliver a new set of characters to keep the story and the fan base going. I especially like that the new main character is a female. I was adventure minded as a youth and loved books that gave girls a chance to prove themselves. The fact that the young characters in this movie have put Han Solo , Chewbacca and Princess Leia on a pedestal gives it just the right flavor for newbies to the series, because YES they SHOULD go back and watch the early movies!!!

Own previous movies. Finishing collection. One more to add.

I was concerned about getting the original trilogies of Star Wars films in their special steel-book versions, thinking that the newer films would likely not get matching steel-books of their own. But, as I had never owned my own copies of the films before, I bought them any way. And, then this steel-book comes out at Best Buy and TOTALLY confirmed that it was a good idea. The text on the "STAR WARS" logo is different than the others. But, this is also a different set of films made by entirely new production studio. So, it's a small gripe. I love the art so much, that I now buy all my steel-books (i.e. Deadpool, Batman v Superman) from Best Buy for their STELLAR steel-book art and presentation. I will only not get MARVEL Cinematic Universe films here, because I am waiting for the special Phase 3 collector's set! But, I thought about it, still. Go Best Buy!!

Thought it was a great movie can’t wait for the second one

Good movie. My only complaint is with best buy. I purchased 4 movies and 3 had obviously been repackaged. So i wonder if i purchased new or used items.

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens enjoyed it when I saw it in the theaters that I had to get it on blu-ray. The steelbook exclusive is a nice collector’s item to have. They did a nice job with the blu-ray video/audio. With the DTS, I felt I was in the middle of the movie. Normally I don’t watch the extras, but the bonus disc is terrific and I did not finish watching it. I would highly recommend to my friends. The next holiday I am going to watch all seven episodes to have a Star Wars marathon. Star Wars day May the 4th is on Wednesday or I would have the marathon on that day. I hope Big Bang Theory will have the Star Wars episode that day. Get a copy for yourself and check out some of the other Sci-fi classics on the Best Buy website. You will be surprised to find out what Best Buy has and some new titles to spark your interest. May the 4th be with you.

The graphics that 4k allows to happen is phenomenal. Sure there's dispute about the quality of the final 3 movies in the series, but at least they look great in 4k
