Star Wars: the Force Awakens is part VII in the ongoing saga. This one is directed by J.J. Abrams and you'd pretty much had to have been living under a rock to not know that this came out this last Christmas. It is the Star Wars that we all hoped it would be, full of amazing characters and exciting action sequences. Lots of good humor, and some powerful performances, and that dreaded moment when..... As if the film alone weren't enough to tempt you, then the hours of behind-the-scenes extras should cement the deal. They were full of fun, fascinating glimpses into the vast array of talent it takes to bring this kind of movie to life. I can't wait to see the rest of the Star Wars galaxy open up.

I think, the best among the latest trilogy of star wars film. No question about the audio and video presentation. Both were great. The only gripe is the storyline. It's OK. I would still recommend this to those who are die hard fans of the franchise.

I purchased this item during the May 4th Star Wars Sales to add to my Star Wars Blur Ray collection. The collector's tin is very nice and simple. The movie itself is fun to watch and (love or hate it) recaptures a lot of the themes that made us fall in love with the original trilogy. The new characters are well conceived and make you wonder how they will develop in the next two films. The action sequences are amazing and keep you glued to the screen. Abrams did a great job of this one, and overall as an open minded Star Wars fan since early 80's, I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the start to the next Star Wars trilogy for this next generation. I would recommend this for any Star Wars fan.

I bought the other movies in the main saga simultaneously, but decided to review this one because it was the newest. If you don't know about the other one, well idk what to tell you, catch up I guess. Lol. Anyways, I last seen this movie in theaters and I must say its one of the better movies in the saga. The plot is very reminiscent of the original, but still has a new feel to it. So it will definitely get those that are feeling nostalgic and newcomers alike to enjoy the movie. Special effects are great. As a standalone movie it's good, but I think what it is setting up for makes it even better. This movie definitely has me looking forward to the future installments of this franchise.

Good movie if you can watch without the shadow of the originals looming overhead. Dont believe the negative reviews.

I have always liked all Stars Wars movies, more the original trilogy, but all six movies were good. This is now a new beginning for the franchise under the Disney Empire. While I would have liked to see what Gorge Lucas had in his mind for the next trilogy, I think this movie was overall very good, funny, and fresh as it basically reunited many artists, retold a somewhat same story, but used new characters and made it different from the other movies, giving a chance for young people to connect to this extraordinary saga while also giving the chance to older generations to once again reconnect to Star Wars. Now we need to wait for episode 8 as well as the three stand alone movies.

This is basically what everyone who grew up with the original StarWars trilogy had been hoping for when those disappointing prequel garbagefests came out. THIS movie is what we wanted. This one had good acting, dialogue, action and PROPER use of CGI for special effects (the filmmakers used a lot of actual props and models which, being made of real materials, always is a better option for that life-like feeling). Sure the overall plot is not too creative/original, but after the prequels, this movie is what we the fans and the franchise needed to restore our faith that the StarWars universe is alive and well and can be looked forward to once again. Highly recommend this movie.

Technical merits for this 3D release are top notch. And this edition features some great new special features not on the previous release. My only knock on this release would be I wish this was released initially when first released on home video in April 2016. I somehow missed the news that this release was planned and bought the plain 2D non-special edition. I would have saved my money for this release and not double-dipped. In Disney's defense this was actually announced so it wasn't one of the typical cash grabs where a title is released and then 3 months later a superior version is announced. If you're a fan and enjoy 3D don't hesitate to pick it up.

This was such a great buy at just under $10 on sale! I was never into the Star Wars franchise, especially the ones from the early 2000's with Natalie Portman (Oh, gosh, how terrible and cheesy those were), but The Force Awakens is a breath of fresh air. It's constantly witty and charming, full of action, and reprises many key characters. I've been debating everyone who's watched this and the new Rogue One on which is better - and personally, I liked this better because Rogue One was lacking in engagement, barely smiled, laughed, or cringed, but to each his own. Nevertheless, most people will find this movie to make for a pretty good movie night.

I was hoping the 3D version would be released on it's initial date and day. Unfortunately that didn't happen and I didn't want to wait months to watch this at home. So as much as I hate double dips, I just had to get it for the 3D....and it was worth it! I've never been too crazy about live action 3D (aside from Prometheus and Hugo), especially post conversions but this particular post conversion was so well done that it made me notice details that I previously hadn't noticed before. It was quite shocking. Great sense of depth to this disc and a few nice pop out effects. This is the way to watch this movie. Highly recommended if you're into 3D.

Loved the movie and love the Steel Book. Been a Star Wars fanatic all my life and I've read most of the books. The movie does have the Star Wars feel and awesome effects and the storyline is played out well, though they don't exactly follow the history that has already been made and Disney did their own thing. There will have to be adds in the past. From the books, in the past there was a child named Ben, but he was a Skywalker and not a Solo and died while still young. There are other things along the storyline but I think it will all work out in the end and I give Disney props for taking their own direction on it and still keeping up the Star Wars tradition.

Grew up in the age of first three releases and did not like much of the next three. This movie quenched my thirst for a new truly great Star Wars movie. The only criticism is that there is at least one major story line that they skipped over to get to this point post Return of the Jedi but I would not be surprised if Disney went back and made a movie about the subject (which I will not spoil here) some time in the future like they did with Rogue One (another great one). You may not care about the missing story line anyway when you see the ending because it will make you want the next one in the sequel coming out soon! Enjoy.

'Member Star Destroyers? 'Member Chewbacca? 'Member lightsabers? The Force Awakens forces those 'member berries down your throat and awakens the full force of nostalgia in your brain for a time when Star Wars wasn't the butt of Darth Vader screaming "NOOOO!" and Hayden Christensen's thoughts on sand and Jar Jar Binks jokes. The movie does a great job of getting the franchise back on track and erasing the damage done by the prequels. The story takes some flack for being a near beat for beat retelling of the original Star Wars IV A New Hope, but there are worse crimes Hollywood can thrust upon us. Enjoy it. There's so much fun to be had here. 'Member?

What's to say? The best Star Wars ever. I've watched all of the Star Wars movies when they first came out, bought them on VHS, then DVD, and finally BD, and J.J. Abrams really put this film together, beyond my expectations with surprises. I've only watched it three times, and each time I see more, plus so many little things drawn from episode Four, the first film. I will be watching it again. Also the special on the disk, explains and shows how they did the tech stuff, including fabrication of a full-sized Millennium Falcon including Harrison Ford's first steps into the full-sized Falcon, and a lot of commentary on included stuff from the original movie.
