Lots of fun, and gorgeous to look at

Putting aside all the fan arguments, this is a gorgeous movie to look at. I personally loved the story.... it's filled with a mix of regret, redemption, and hope. IMO, it's the essence of Star Wars. My only regret is that with the untimely death of Carrie Fisher, the ending is a bit more of a loss than it otherwise would be. This particular BD set is wonderful. I love the extras, and the steel book always to feeling of heft and quality.

    Best Star Wars since Empire!

Loved it. Tired of all the haters of this movie. Saw it twice in theatres and will see it several more times on Blu-ray and 4K. Better than all the prequels and better than ROTJ (VI) and Force Awakens (VII). Creative story and strong, positive female and minority leads. Glad to see Star Wars isn't just for powerful white men anymore. Best Star Wars since Empire. Excited to pick this up on 4K and Blu-ray! And looking forward to Solo!!

    Extremely Disappointing

To be clear, I don't blindly hate this movie. I saw it twice and listened to several defenses for the choices this movie made, but in my opinion this is the worst Star Wars movie since Attack of the Clones. The decisions regarding characters, which narrative threads to focus on, and continuing the plot points Episode VII set in motion are baffling to me. The movie has a few fantastic moments that will be iconic in Star Wars history, but the rest of the movie is incredibly misguided and extremely disappointing.

    Excellent Addition to the Franchise

I'm a die hard Star Wars fan, and I realize the movie isn't perfect. That said, the movie does a lot to add to the Star Wars universe and move the story beyond the characters many of us identify with on a very personal level. If you love Star Wars, you should watch this movie. If you like action movies, you should watch this movie. Beautfiul shots, wonderful music, and the main characters continue to develop in a great way.

    My favorite Star Wars film!

This movie has quickly become my favorite Star Wars film. It's quite different than the rest, and despite the runtime, it passes quickly. The picture looks stunning, probably the best this series has ever looked. The special features are worth the price alone. The director and the Jedi is one of the best documentaries I've seen. While not perfect, you should check this one out, I personally loved it.

I Knew STAR WARS, LAST JEDI, YOU ARE NO STAR WARS

I was ten when I saw Star Wars in the theaters. It was literally a Life-Changing experience. I have 4 boys that have all grown up on Star Wars and are huge fans in their own right. I made it through the Prequels and even survived Jar Jar Binks! The sad fact is this is a great movie by industry standards. The effects, sound, soundtrack and cinematography are all top notch! Why did we end up with a huge mess of a movie. I don't mean to get political, but Star Wars is not about being a corporate lets check every box of correctness so we don't offend or leave someone out. It's supposed to be a few hours of escape from the reality of the world we live in and root for the good guys!! I expected a Star Wars movie, I got two hours of plodding uninspired lets be different to be different and let's destroy eight films of cannon. I want more "I am your father!" moments not floating force using princesses in space. Lea is tough as nails and deserves better. I really wonder if the Star Wars saga can recover from this installment. Like I said we made it past Jar Jar and the Gungans, maybe we can make it past this travesty. I'll buy it because I'm a fan through and through. Watch it if you love cutting edge sci-fi movie effects. Think of it as a well crafted, beautiful box with not much inside it.

Respects the Past, Opens the Future

What I really liked about this film was Poe's character arc as he evolves from just an ace X-wing pilot into a true, strategic leader. And Luke's new understanding of what "The Force" is makes even more sense than what the Jedi masters thought they knew back during the prequels. Plus the ending is equal parts riveting and hilarious. Never has a teacher made his student look like such a noob!

Not the best but also not the worst

I’ll be honest, the movie’s story is all over the place and paced very strangely. But it’s still an enjoyable experience. If you’re extremely into Star Wars lore then you might not like it but if you’re a casual fan like myself then you’ll have a good time. There’s some great stuff and not so great stuff. I’d tell everyone to give the movie a shot, you’ll either like it or you won’t. No real in between.

    Star Wars for the Times

Well as far as the movie goes I gave it 4 stars.. Yes some parts could be better or left out. Some were good. I guess it's the Star Wars for the time. Now on to the 4K.. I thought the video was very good.. Actually probably the best 4K I have picture-wise so far..but I only have 3 others. The sound was top notch and I only have a 5.1 set up.. I'm sure with 7.1 or Dolby Atmos it's even better.

    Disney's Star Wars

Any hard core fan is going to want this regardless of how they feel about the movie, Disney 4k releases so far have been quality PQ and AQ, definitely get the 4K UHD if you already have the setup or expect to upgrade soon. We've already per-ordered the limited edition 4K steel book. For causal fans, those who didn't go see in in the theaters they should probably hold off. Rian Johnson is all about defying expectations, he builds up to scenes where as a fan you know what to expect then the story fizzles as Rian who wrote and directed the movie tries to take the story another way. Part of the hype about this movie has to be the unexpected way expectations are broken, easy to see how this can excite an audience who got more of the same for almost 30 years in 6 movies however the tropes Rian used just don't work in the long term. It's a mix of Loopers and Rogue One, without the real payoff for the story built up so far, and honestly doesn't leave a lot to look forward to. This is not George Lucas's Star Wars, this is not done in collaboration with the people who helped craft the original trilogy, this Disney's Star Wars, for better or worse this the kind of big studio play it safe storytelling we are stuck with.

    The best Star Wars film...period

Complex issues to great action to a change of pace at the right moments from having everything so tense like past films. Pace was great, writing was good and is original. Unlike Episode 7 where it was almost a carbon copy of Episode 4, this is going to a whole new direction which I am looking forward to. Personally, this is better than Empire. No trolling here. Dead serious.

    Rent it first

I've been a Star Wars fan for 40 years. I raised 3 children with these movies and they are also fans. This is honestly the first Star Wars movie I really, really did not like. I had no "fan theories" or expectations other than wanting to see another great Star Wars movie. "Liking" anything is subjective. But the fanbase is split down the middle on this. It is the lowest rated Star Wars movie ever on Rotten Tomatoes at 49% (as of 1/12/18) and no they have not been botted. Rogue One and The Force Awakens (in which a major change takes place) are both rated in the 80's. IMDB has this movie at 7.5 (started at 8.3). It is only rated above Episode I and II at the moment. Metacritic is 4.6. This is not a few angry people unwilling to let go of favorite characters or move on without George Lucas (see The Force Awakens and Rogue One ratings as I said). 50% of the people who saw this movie do not like it for whatever reason. I liked the score (John Williams is always brilliant), cinematography is beautiful, and it has some high points for me. However the bad is so overwhelmingly bad to me I really do not like this movie. Had it not been a Star Wars movie I still would not have liked this movie. It's not the cast because not only the older, seasoned actors shine in places, Adam Driver is truly a gem. I've seen two more of his movies since this one. It is the script, the direction. My suggestion before you decide to purchase it is to rent it somewhere first. Video store, library, whatever. IF you are in the 50% that loves it, by all means buy it. But don't spend your money until you find out first. I'm happy for the people who loved it. I'm actually quite jealous to have come away from a Star Wars movie without that experience. I'm happy I have 8 movies out of 9 that I really enjoy (including Rogue One). But this is not one of them.

While controversial, the last Jedi is one of the best star wars films. In my opinion, this is one you really need to see at least twice to appreciate it as the first time can leave a bit of a sour taste due to it being so different than the force awakens. Also this movie was fully filmed and mastered in 4K so watching it on UHD Blu-ray should be amazing.

No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans

This movie is great. Many of the series' most impactful moments are in this one. Incredible cinematography, Mark Hamill's reprisal of Luke Skywalker, and Rian Johnson's direction are just some of the things that make this movie fantastic. Don't let hurt nostalgia keep you from enjoying this movie, definitely worth your time.

    Not a great movie

I consider myself a fangirl, so keep that in mind when reading this. I love Star Wars - enough that I tolerate the prequels. Yes there are a lot of things wrong with the movie in terms of editing, style, tone, and humor. Yes there are a lot of fan problems in terms of how characters were handled, how moments now make you question old ideas (if Leia can survive in space, why didn't the Emperor survive falling down a shaft?), and just a lot of mistreatment of things we cared about. Add those two together and it becomes a painful movie. But my main issue is this: it negates all of the accomplishments of the original trilogy, all of the things we loved from the original trilogy, and shuts down all of the mysteries and questions we had from the Force Awakens. Rian Johnson tried to "wipe the slate clean" with the EIGHTH out of NINE movies - this was not the appropriate time in the saga and he ruined a lot of the intrigue I care about. That's my main issue, though the former ones matter too. Thanks for reading.

This movie has a lot of issues. It's not perfect. To be honest, I only bought it because it looks great in 4K. The movie itself tries to hard to be new and do things differently, so much so that it loses a lot of what makes Star Wars so great. If you like action and good visuals though, it's worth the buy.

This is not what fanboys wet dream about. This is a real legitimate take on the progression of the characters loved. It does not pander or compromise to what we hope or believe about the Star Wars franchise. Instead it gives us a shocking, unpredictable, but without a doubt FAIR take on this beloved franchise.

Love the movie, incredible visuals, lots of action, and definitely a Star Wars original as promised by the director. Definitely a few gripes with some of the things that happened, but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment I get out of the movie. REALLY WISH THE STEELBOOK MATCHED THE THEME SET BY ALL THE OTHERS. UGGGHHHH

Movie was great...it was complex and layered, exciting and intense. All of my kids enjoyed it, as well as the adults. I know that in today's day and age, you're not cool if you're not complaining. I'll gladly hang out with all the uncool kids that actually watched the movie. Absolutely a great movie.

    "Wah, I like bad things."

The movie struggled through over dramatic dialog akin to soap opera and humor usually reserved for spoof movies no one asked for. Talking to you scream 5. Blasted simplified explanations of important characters while trying to be "different" so hard it came off less new and more, "hey guys, it's opposite day...ok"." Great story telling like bombs falling in space, and battering ram cannons abound. It left me in a theater uncomfortably laughing at how unbelievably bad some parts were, and for the first time ever watching a star wars movie I was aware of the time, and just how much of it it was taking to tell me a story about not fighting today to fight another day. Death by a thousand uncomfortable moments, the last Jedi indeed.
