This review is just for the Steelbook packaging, as the contents and movie are no different from the standard release. The cover art is really nice, although not too dissimilar to the standard release. However, as with all Steelbooks, it's tough to get one without damage! Luckily, this is Star Wars so stores were overflowing with these and I was able to find one without any damage (though there were plenty that had some blemish).

I'm not a fan of the new saga so I won't comment on that. However, if you are then the special features and 4k quality are excellent to add to your collection.

This movie may be controversial but I think it shifted Star Wars in a direction it needed to go. Too much playing it safe for years. Unfortunately this entire trilogy does not work together. Lots of wasted potential. But taken on its individual merits, this is an excellent movie. Beautifully shot and well acted. The UHD disc really brings this movie to life for your home theater. Almost compares to the theater experience.

first off the steelbook is very well done, that takes one of the posters, and make it as one of the designs on the steelbook real neat. i will say that the marketing for this film was making me think on the title itself witch in the end i felt was very misleading and the title should had been change. it all depends how people see it as its own thing but takes things from episode 5 and 6 combined in its elements. the film was a mix bag for me, but i would recommend this steelbook for anyone who likes star wars.

Worth it for the BTS features alone

I'm admittedly not the Star Wars fan in this household, but I've enjoyed these recent films well enough. But as far as this blu-ray goes the special features are of particular interest to me. First off, a gag reel for Star Wars is welcome, the last movie didn't have one that I can recall, but there is a feature length BTS documentary that is fascinating, even if you're not a fan of Star Wars but simply love the film making process. On top of that, the audio/visual quality is another top tier Disney release.

    A series in decline

After the disappointment of the Force Awakens (because it was nearly a duplicate story of the original first SW Movie) I was looking forward to this one. Rogue One was very entertaining and with this being the franchise movie, my expectations were set. Well, it was not to be. I truly love watching the CGI that is in these movies so that shades my review somewhat but in truth, I found this story to be scattered, almost as though the director or writer was not sure what to lead with. Several "branches" of story line were created in Force and in this follow up nothing really took firm hold. Don't get me wrong, Daisy Ridley is easy on the eyes so that also made it fun to watch but that notwithstanding, much of it did not make sci-fi sense to me. I am one of the late ones to watch this movie since it has been out for a while but nevertheless I won't spoil any of the surprises and there are a couple. Overall, it appears that these are being made too quickly (can you say greed) and maybe that's why enough attention is not being paid to the essence of the series, as good as it once was. Now with the politicizing of just about everything, spending money to support more of this is not in my future.

Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi is a dismissive film but I got to say I really liked it. I know some people have problems with it and I understand but for the most part I liked what Rian Johnson did. Now as for the Best Buy exclusive steel book I Love it!!! Now I wish they stuck with the traditional villain on the covers but they chose one of the better movie poster so I’m fine with it. I say give this movie a chance and choose this version to buy.

Episode 8 is one of those Star Wars films that you love it one viewing and kinda dislike it in another viewing. Not that it’s a bad movie or anything but it’s just not nearly as fun to watch as episode 7. The visuals are as usual amazing and luke drinks some nasty blue creature milk. There’s about 20 mins of the film that could’ve been completely left out as they add nothing to the story. That best parts of the film are the last 45 mins or so. Highly recommend for any Star Wars lover who doesn’t take things too seriously

This movie is definitely different than the rest. I don't like to take apart movies but one thing I'll say is that this movie has action in it that's not in any of the other Star Wars movies. It kind of takes Star Wars and changes up the blueprint. Some people might have hated that, but I think It was good for Rian to try. He shouldn't regret it. This movie has grown on me more and more though. But...it does have one of my favorite moments in all of Star Wars now. I'm not going to say what it is but...it's silent.

    Miss the DVD

The saga continues. Miss having the DVD disc included in the package since my computer only has a DVD player, but watching it on the TV was worth it. Replacement for Carrie Fisher as Leia was a little disappointing; she doesn't carry it off as Leia. Luke's character was a little too dark compared to previous films. It's a little disappointing that Lucas no longer has control over the story/characterizations which seem to be taking a dark turn. We need a little more light in our world. Still a Star Wars fan, however.

Don't believe the hate with this show. Yes it is different Yes people didn't like it. Being a some what of an Star Wars fan I knew from the get go that the studio said they were not going to follow any of the previous material before the big mouse bought them out cause that is what they said. Yes they did borrow thing from the books but the story is unique. Could it have been done better sure what movie couldn't benefit from fixing a few things. In the end I think it is a great addition to the franchise.

I was genuinely excited about this movie. Once I saw it, I had mixed feelings because of Luke Skywalker. It would've been cool if they had gone the super hero route instead of him being portrayed as some loser drinking alien cow milk. I wished they would have shown Rey struggle a little bit more to gain her powers. I would appreciate her story a lot more. It just seemed like she mastered it all too fast. I still love her character though and I still liked it enough to purchase it. Looks great in 4k.

    Not what I expected

I really had high expectations of this last Star Wars installment, based on what other people were talking about, and as much as I wanted to love it, I just didn't. The overall tone and writing style of the film felt more like a Marvel film than a Star Wars film. The plot line was frustrating, the script was poor, and the way of how the whole movie went was infuriating. Beyond the first five minutes, it went south fast. I kept thinking it would get better and instead it got worse and worse. I get (and am OK with) the movie (and the franchise) taking a new direction, with the caveat that it's actually a good movie. This was not a good movie. Ryan Johnson was clearly so bent on putting his own spin on things and adding his signature that, in the process, he ruined what could have been a superb movie. SO much potential and he ruined it. I gave it a 3 Star Rating in hopes for the next installment to be much better than this one.

Episode 8 seems to be very devisive among Star Wars fans. It may not be perfect, but I love it. It's probably the kind of movie (like Episode 3 was) that does not stand alone well- you have to have seen the one before it for this one to make sense. The only problem I have with it is that Finn and Rose's entire adventure accomplished absolutely nothing of any real importance, and almost got them killed in the process. Oh, well, enjoy. And the metal case it comes in is pretty cool!

I forsee a new round of buying movies but this will be the last one. 4K is gorgeous on my 36 inch screen and I loved the vibrant images from this film. Also has the BluRay incoded since 4K discs currently have just the film and no extras on them. Also includes a digital copy via the Disney online service. Would be nice if they eventually create a company agnostic service to store all these digital copies so you don't need so many accounts for your movie collection. We can dream.

Well, it is a Star Wars movie, and not part of the original trilogy. Meaning you will like it or you won't. Not a whole lot in the middle. I'm in the camp of liking it (a lot better than the prequels). The deleted scenes were disappointing (not as many as I thought there might be from the intro the director gave). Also, would have like more structure to the documentaries and behind the scenes looks. Hearing the director laugh got a little tiring. But I still liked this movie. And it is Star Wars.

Beautifully shot and directed. A few parts that I might wish could have been different but the larger choices make sense from where The Force Awakens left off. After so many people saying Star Wars movies had become predictable with similar stories over and over again this definitely breaks the mold while still very much feeling like a Star Wars movie at it's core. I enjoyed it the first viewing but was able to really get into it on further viewings once I got past my initial expectations.
