Solid game, less than desirable story.

I am no RTS aficionado, but Starcraft has always been a staple of the genre, and this is carried forward in Starcraft 2 in Wings of Liberty, as well as Heart of the Swarm. I enjoyed the story of Wings of Liberty - but with the talent Blizzard has for stories and narrative, I expected much more from Heart of the Swarm. I couldn't finish the campaign - the story is that bad. But the gameplay is solid. The new units are good, and add some needed spice to the recipe of the gameplay. I think it's a solid game, but it's also an expansion pack, so you need Wings of Liberty to be able to play the content in Heart of the Swarm, which is rather debilitating on the ol' wallet. But otherwise, it's still far from a bad game, and should at least be on your radar if you're looking to pick up a relatively new RTS.

    Short, Worth 20 not 40

The game is not really replay-able unless you want to challenge yourself for achievements, basically the game presents a single story (which I enjoy but others may not). The voice acting is top notch and the plot is pretty polished. A variety of mission types thin out the build a base and beat them type missions. However, like the $60 original, it's not worth it for single player contents alone, hence why I think that expansion is really worth about 20. If you have friends you like playing games with, it might reclaim that value earlier, but just be aware the single player is pretty short (27 missions or so).

It is a nice add-on to starcraft 2 which continues the story line and introduced some zerg units; but really nothing new in the single player mode and not really worth the price; probably should wait till it dropped price...

This is a good expansion that gives you interesting game levels, fixes some issues that the original had and adds very fun and creative aspects to the game. The expansion is much more of a hero based game, making the change in game play focus between the original and expansion similar to the difference between warcraft 2 and 3. My only complaint is that it is a true expansion, especially in terms of the length of the single-player campaign and the depth of the changes, however they continue to charge closer to full game prices.

Very anticipated expansion to the Starcraft series, I was very excited that the Heart of the Swarm had new missions and single player. This expansion focused on the Zerg race. Full price, I would not say is a great deal for the expansion (still have to wait for the Protoss expansion too)... but at a deal (29.99), it's a steal!
