Excited for it but..........
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If this game is like the first it should be good but $59 is a bit pricey. Also, I'm not going to get exicted just yet I want to know why best buy is advertising this game for a November release when the blizzard's website still hasn't announced a date. I think the date will move around a bit, and maybe the price will too.

Good improvements without ruining gameplay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game play - the campaigns are good but the online play makes the game. Graphics good without overtaxing the computer. Plays well with Windows 7 Unlimited possibilities Habit forming.

Classic RTS with Incredible Narrative
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a person who does not enjoy most real time strategy games, Starcraft 2 was an easy sell. 12 years in the making, Blizzard has found a way to keep the classic RTS formula fresh. If you own a PC/MAC, you should be playing this game.

Horrible sequel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buy this game if you want to see what Starcraft would look like in 3D with a few pointless new units. That is all. The price is also incredibly expensive considering this is only the first game.

Good Game but unoriginal overall.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firstly i should say the reason i rate the storry down to average is due to the fact that it's back story is quite similar to a few Events during the Tyranic Wars in Warhammer 40k. In fact you can summarize the factions using factions from Warhammer 40k Terran= Space Marine + IG Protoss=Eldar Zerg= Tyranid. those of you who are fimiliar with a couple of other sci-fi games on the market and sci-fi stories will notice the blatant similarities of some the games units to units from other universes. and frankly it's frustrating For a game to get so Much hype only to watch it piggy back off of what others designed and fabricated. i haven't played the actual campaign yet only had a 7 day trial i'll have the game by next tuesday though. Furthermore i give it an overall rating of Fair because of it's lack of newer controls. now to explain what i mean here. Look at most of the other RTSs on the Market Supreme Commander 2 had an auto grouping system and basically a strategic command map that allowed you to move troops easier across an large map. Dawn of War 1 made Squad Combat in RTS good and introduced i nice re-inforce feature that turns almost any Infantry unit into a mobile factory. Dawn of War 2 made things more tactical than it's predecessors. CoH perfected DoW 2. HOwever the biggest blow to this games play style is the fact that there is no Default Attack Move option and your own units will and can just walk by enemy units if you didn't move them using Attack Move. unless they are holding their ground the units can be incredibly stupid Builders also often build themselves into corners. Something we don't see with any of the other RTSs on the market since 2007. it's command system does not hold to the standard of a 2010 RTS. as is common with most RTSs you can't remap the controls however in this game hitting buttons is the key to success not use of the mouse primarily like most other RTSs on the Market. I Would Recommend either downloading a Macro Program or buying a Macro capable key board to assist and a macro capable mouse good ones you can get at best buy are the Razer Lycosa and the Razer death Adder which are fairly cheap and of excellent quality. i will say what is nice about the game play is supply depots which increase population can be used as road blocks as they go into the ground or pop up on command. that and at least Terran Bases can fly anywhere incase of an emergency. all the races are uniquely different from one another. units on all sides however die just a little to quickly if you do not have superior numbers. also the idea of completely irradicating the enemy base is sorta old i enjoyed the more objective oriented gameply brought to RTS by the Supreme Commander and Dawn of War Series. Maps look nice but it feels wierd looking at them they aren't as 'real' as most other RTS maps and have a distinct artificial look and feel to them. aside from that Map design is good for gameplay but aesthetically awkward. other than that it's well balanced and pretty fun Overall i find this game a marked and sad step backward in RTSs Fun but unoriginal at best attractive but awkward. I would recommend this game only to a friend who has experience playing RTSs or to someone who is serious about competitive RTS play.

Quality Sequel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A very solid sequel to Starcraft. I dislike the online only service, but can be bypassed by playing as a guest.

Great experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this game as my introduction to pc gaming. It did not disappoint. The story itself is not the main attraction. I find that playing the custom games people create to be very addicting.

incomplete
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My expectations were very high when I heard Blizzard spent 100 million to make this game. But this game falls flat on it face. The cut scenes are beautifully rendered with amazingly high detailed faces but the rest of the body is horribly out of proportion, intentionally boxy and is just painful to look at. The game play is what you would expect from a 1998 game not a 2010 game. We expect at least some improvements like the ability to zoom out, attack on the move as a default, formations (or some sort of facing), and builder units that can assist each other. Many of the fundamental features you would expect from a modern strategy game are missing like chat rooms, offline play, cross region play, single player campaigns that cover all the races not just the humans. As expected the end users license agreement is very restrictive. It grants blizzard the right to monitor your computer and removes your right to give the game away after you are done with it. It also uses the real ID system that allows other users to see your real name and information. If you are concerned about your privacy don’t buy this game. The game was priced at 60 dollars and feels incomplete and over priced. I would not recommend buying StarCraft 2 at this time.

Great game!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game! It just took Blizzard too long to come out with it. I loved playing it 10 years ago, but now it is just not as fun.

Great game but horrible scam
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I beta tested the game looked phenomenal great game play and I played the finished product for a couple of missions still great. But with Blizzard wanting customers to pay 3 times for the same game in order to get all three classes I am against buying the game for myself. I just can't stomach the greed that has accompanied big gaming business and this epitomizes the greed they have sunk to. The original starcraft was a great game and you got to enjoy playing all three races now you have to al la carte pay for them. Enjoy future gluttony from companies like this, want to play wow? Great we will let you buy the game for 50 bucks now you can only play tauren druids. Want to play another character? That will be an additional 50 please. I refuse from top to tail sir I bid you good day.

Too many unreasonable demands, too much work!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received Star Craft 2 as a gift, since someone knew I really liked Star Craft back in the day. My intense disappointment with this product is very hard to put into words, but I'll hit the high points. First, the out of box experience for installation is abysmal. The game required almost half a Gig of patches to be downloaded, and then it spent the better part of an hour installing them. Once that "fun" was over with, it complained that my video card driver (which it's a fairly common card) wasn't supported, but that I could try to play anyway (gee, thanks). What finally caused me to uninstall this game and put it back in the box was Blizzard's unreasonable demand that I had to create a Battle.net account and drop a bunch of protections on my firewall so that a game running on my computer in my house could "phone home" to Blizzard. Uh, not likely. They even say in their own help files that "Modifying your firewall settings may reduce the security of the computer it affects." Ever hear of port 80, guys? Port 443? Is there any good reason I have to open up (and I'm not overstating this) 116 ports on my computer just to play … a … game? My question to support asking if I could just play single player without dropping my computer's security was met with a stern no. In return, I'm uninstalling it and returning it. If I'm successful returning it, an iTunes gift card for the amount will be a heck of a lot more entertaining for a heck of a lot less effort and risk. The fun I used to have with Blizzard games is now just that - used to have.

Great game, bad blizzard policy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have played the beta. The game itself is amazing. Each race is for the most part complete and the amount of strategies you have are large due to the setup of hard and soft counters. The battle.net matching system works well to match people of comparable skills. The only problem: Many people use the forums to ask questions on how to play or with any issues they may have with the game. Blizzard is implementing a realid system where all posters will have their real first and last name posted in the forum. There is no option to remove this "option". It is either do not post at all or post your real name in the forums for all to see. This destroys all privacy and makes getting help in the blizzard forums nigh impossible unless one does not care what creepy crawlies may grab their names. Until they realize the big mistake realid is, I will continue to give the overall rating a 1. Too bad you cant rate it 0. note to parents: this will affect you the most since the name listed will be the name on the account.

no lan? please...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hyped up about getting this game and playing it on our home lan as we do with most every strat game we own, something about dropped connections, people just up and leaving the game, and over all lag makes most game servers completely pointless in my opinion. Since this game will not support lan i am sad to say i had to give it a bad rating, since any multiplayer game that does not support lan is sorta pointless. As for challenge story graphics and fun, i dont know since beta was so isolated. Fun however would mostly be low since once again you cant lan and are stuck on a server.
