Starship Troopers 4K is more grainy than I thought. I expect 4K movies to be much clearer than the blu ray edition, or else what's the point of buying the same movie? I already own the Starship Troopers on blu ray. It feels to me that the grains in the blu ray edition are also in the 4K edition. I Googled 4K grainy movies and from what I've read, I came to the conclusion that if the movie was shot with a certain camera or shot on a certain film stock, the grains will be in the film no matter what. I guess those grains are not meant to be removed or cleaned up (even if its possible). Overall, I still think the 4K was worth the purchase because the scenes without grain are still superior to the same scenes in the blu ray edition. For that reason, I think it's a great buy. No need to review the movie in depth as I think it is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made for its social, political commentaries and special effects. It touches on broad subjects: from coming of age and finding yourself to friendship and love, from chain of command to sacrifice and patriotism, from fighting the enemy vs. understanding the enemy.

The book is full of military social science but the movie is more about Social Media well before it took over our 21st century minds. It is not perfect but the violence draws light onto our human proclivity and of war. Plus, there is nary a hint of sexism.

An updated ultra 4K version of the cult classic, featuring a beautiful cast, novel storyline, and lots of bug killing action!

Pleased with this purchase. Decent 4k transfer. Good color but grain is noticeable but not a killer ... for me.

I was tempted to give it 5 stars just because this is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. But this is more a review of the 4k disc and not the the movie. The menus are generic and look grainy. The film it's self looks good but not great due to the age and lack of hi def cameras in the 90s. Special effects however look great, especially the bugs, ship exteriors and Want to Know More commercials. Extras are strong but limited with my favorite being the director and cast commentary. The cover art of the steelbook is excellent and it feels well made. Not 100% sure it's worth the extra 5 dollars but as a big fan, it's the best packaging of any format. If you don't already have a copy in BluRay, definitely worth the purchase.

It’s a typical 90s action movie. The only bad is the ugly coverart.

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since it came out in theatres Very underrated movie and one of my favorite SF movies. I always wanted to get it on bluray Since I had it on special edition DVD But reading about people who bought the bluray from 2009 and couldn’t play on their Sony Bluray player, I held off. In addition I heard one scen wasn’t edited properly on US bluray. So when I saw Best Buy release Starship Troopers on Steelbook 20th Anniversary edition. I decided to buy figuring Sony would fix the problems in the 2017 bluray, and I was right It works on my bluray player and I don’t see any editing problems The movie looks great on bluray Plus you get Starship Troopers on 4k Which looks and sounds amazing!

A lot of the reviews here focus on technical details related to the various digital formats the film has been available in. A few of the other reviews focus on the politics of the movie as contrasted with the politics of the book. I want to start someplace different than either of those two approaches. To me, this movie is campy, cheesy, and over the top. Yet somehow it is still an engaging war story that grabs you and drags you along with the action. Heck, even the wooden acting by some of the main characters works as part of the campy fun. And the movie really is fun, so I'm happy to give it four stars.

"Starship Troopers" is a imaginative, gory, and graphic Sci Fi film that fortunately doesn't take itself too seriously. Based roughly on the novel by science fiction legend Robert Heinlein, the film depicts the bloody war between Earth and the distant world of Klendathu. A world which is inhabited by gigantic arachnids wanted to take over our beautiful blue orb. The story centers around a number of young infantry and pilots who join the Federation in order to become citizens and fight the "bugs". This film has great special effects which invoke some genuine thrills and chills. Not for the young or faint-hearted, "Starship Troopers" is a fun way to kill 129 minutes without losing too many brain cells.

The best of the series although the second one was acceptable. Space wars at its best. No droids no robots just soldiers against overwhelming hoards. Its dooms day and you probably are to be killed by giant bug or cut in half and have the life sucked out of you. What can you do but fight to the death while the flyboys zip by the ground troops in their space ships. Not much on the bug situation because no one cares. Unrelenting assaults with bug splatter and of course a detached love interest between the flygirl and a ground pounder. Acting is cheap and a lot of unfamiliar faces and a few characferactors,

Starship Troopers was one of those movies I saw when it came out and didn't remember it much... Then I caught a few minutes on tv recently and I saw a different side I didn't remember. So instead of watching with commercials, it added to my movie collection. Neil Patrick Harris was so young in the movie, and I am not sure if my views have changed since it first came out, but I very much enjoyed the movie. Some bad acting, yes, some unnecessary violence, yes, but isn't that what makes Sharknado movies such cult followings??? Take a dive in the Starship Troopers and laugh, and enjoy.

If the digital copy of this movie is no longer available then please update your website to no longer show that a digital copy is available. Overall I enjoy buying movies from Best Buy and the daily email that is sent to me showing items that are on sale is also very good.

The steelbook is not great either not bad, don't except 4k will get u the best video quality like all the new digital filmed movie, the bluray version is more smoother because they put the filter, 4k version is clear and because of that u did get a lot of grains during the dark theme which is kinda bugging me.

Interstellar warfare; intelligent "bugs"; people being torn limb from limb; Only soldiers can get to be "citizens"; Michael Ironside (Scanners, Total Recall) chewing up the scenery; and even a little social philosophy thrown in. What more could you want from a Saturday afternoon at the movies? Kitchy and worth a watch.

The view is awesome! This is an action movie all the way. Lots of bug blasting, some other graphic action, language and nudity. There is actually 5 movies in the series. The 2nd and 3rd were (IMHO) pretty bad as follow-up to the first. The last two are CGI and are actually better than 2 & 3.

There is noticable upgrade in visuals but now grain is visible vs regular hd. Also while the effects are brighter their aesthetics take a hit. If you love this movie get it. I returned due to this movie not having a code.

The movie didn't do that well because the satire was lost on American audiences. It's a really good allegorical movie about the dangers of fascism and the use of alt-facts to distort the public's perception. A war starts and no one questions how or why.

While nothing like the original novel, the movie was way ahead of its time in terms of CGI, and still holds it own today. Entertaining with both comedy, action and drama, it is a cult classic today that demanded a million cheesy sequels
