A winner for sure!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have taken this keyboard for a workout over the last 7 days from gaming to regular daily computing tasks and I must say that I will not be going back to a full-sized board again. This keyboard was a pleasant surprise, and the customizability is wonderful. The unit comes with the keyboard and a very nice, long braided nylon feeling USB-C cord to attach to the monitor via USB-A. I was concerned I would not have enough reach from the board to the monitor based on my configuration but that is simply not the case. Unpacking the keyboard showed a solid build albeit plastic feel. I had no problems with this moving around on the desktop given its small size – it was very stable. The feel of the Omnipoint keys right out of the box was quite satisfying as it was, however I choose to customize the actuation to my liking in the software. Reprogramming keys, using the 2 in one key function, changing actuation, and changing color scheme were all super easy through the software. A week out, I am still finding and tweaking the board to my liking. As long as one is comfortable with a 60% board, I cannot imagine anyone not liking this product. All it takes is some time on the software to “fit” this board to your own unique style. SteelSeries has a winner here!

Excellent Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SteelSeries - Apex Pro Mini 60% is a great keyboard for those of you who want more room on your desk, or if you enjoy first person shooters on PC. I've been using a full-sized SteelSeries Apex Pro for about a year and I absolutely love it. The Apex Pro 60% is every bit as good. You get super high quality components, great feel and responsiveness, as well as the ability to control the actuation of the keys, set bindings and of course RGB. I have been using the Apex Pro Mini mainly for playing first person shooters and it has performed very well. I'm using the default actuation settings and haven't really felt the need to adjust it yet. Having that option is a great feature though depending on your needs. Setting up the keyboard is very easy. Make sure to download the SteelSeries software so you can run any updates and customize your keyboard. One thing I really wish these keyboards would come with is a 60% palm rest. It really helps take away the pressure from your wrists having a palm rest. I really can't recommend this keyboard enough for those who want a smaller form factor for their setup. Pick it up! You won't be disappointed.

Interesting Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off let me get the superficial look and feel of the keyboard out of the way before I talk about the interesting tech that Steelseries put into the keyboard. For a 60% keyboard the size of the keys are spaced well and they have clearly marked the secondary functions of the keys to make them easy to find and use to adjust what you want. They are easy to read. The only feel and downside I have is the case is plastic and not a solid metal, which I prefer. But there is no flex I just prefer if my keyboards esp. smaller ones have a bit of heft to them. Overall though the build quality is solid and the RGB seems bright enough to shine through the key caps. Installing the Software from SteelSeries allows you to customize the the RGB and more importantly the actuation point of the each keys. The keyboard can adjust the actuation point for all keys, but the software allows to adjust for it all keys. So for certain keys you can have activate on just a feather light touch or having to bottom the key out or somewhere in between and you can customize to each key allowing you to customize your game experience. The other interesting thing is you can have one key do two different things on a key press based on how much you press down. This allows for one key to two different things which is nice if you have a game with odd keys and don't want to stretch your fingers for it. The software seems solid and supports multiple profiles for the different keys you setup allowing you customize for a few games which is great. Overall I like the ability to adjust the key press actuation based on games, and while I'm still dialing it in its nice, the keyboard is also very small, being a 60% so its handy for my laptop when I travel because it fines easily into my bag allowing me to have a constant gaming experience on the go too.

A Quality Keyboard With A Few Limitations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What does this keyboard bring to the table? Everything you need for a compact set up. Obviously this keyboard is small, lightweight, and perfect for people who are on the go. It takes a hot minute to get used to because of its compact size but it’s great, and when I say great I mean that relative to other keyboards that you could comparable to this one. Feels great to type on and isn’t loud. If you’re looking at this keyboard and reading reviews such as this one, I’m guessing you’re looking for one that won’t take up too much space in your backpack, luggage, or office desk. And if that’s the case look no further you have that keyboard right here. Now let’s talk about the keyboard itself: Mechanical Sound: 10 RGB Lighting: 10 Functionality: 10 Size: 7 Responsiveness: 10 The only thing you really have to take into consideration is its price point - $179 dollars for this TO ME seems a bit steep. SteelSeries has to remain competitive so I get it but most people who do shopping for items will look at it and be like “That much for that?” It’s understandable but the reality of gaming products.

Great gamer keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Steelseries Apex Pro Mini is a 60% keyboard. This keyboard is designed to be used as a gamers keyboard. It does not have the normal row of function keys action keys, arrow keys, numeric keyboard, and action keys. Those key functions can still be performed by using the Steelseries key and a predefined key on the keyboard. The key use is printed on the front of the key. One function that I thoroughly enjoyed is the ability to change the actuation of the keys by simply pressing macro key combinations. (Attenuation is the distance that a key must be depressed before it registers as being activated.) It features profile switching, on-the-fly macro recording, and keyboard illumination controls. The keyboard attaches to your PC or Mac with an USB-C to USB-A 7ft cable. The box claims that it can be attached via Bluetooth, but the version I received does not have this capability. There is also a keycap removal tool stored behind a cover on the bottom of the keyboard. The keyboard can be used with the Steelseries GG application which gives you more control over the keyboard. Using the GG software, gives you much more control over the keyboard. It allows you to define your own macro keys, and change keyboard lighting colors and effects. It allows you to bind keys to each other. You can define different key colors based on zones, rows or individual keys. There are numerous effects that can be applied to the keyboard as a whole, or just parts of it. The application gives you the ability to build multiple profiles and easily switch between them. The software also links to other Steelseries products for a single customization point if you have more than one of their products. Overall this is a well built gamer keyboard with lots of functionality and customization, and the size gives you extra space for your other gaming accessories on your desk. If you are a gamer I can highly recommend this product.

Customizable actuation and dual actions is great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: -Customizable actuation -Dual actuation action per keys -Dual action up to 8 keys Con: -Louder clicks than other linear switches -Dual actions can mess up typing -Lighting profiles are different than key profiles The main features of this keyboard are nice. The actuation is customizable and having dual actions per key is something I haven’t seen before. The keyboard itself is heavier than it looks, the build is solid, but it’s taller than some other keyboards. The keycaps are stable and all the letters and symbols illuminate clearly. It comes with a fairly stiff detachable USB C cable and a keycap puller, which is stored on the bottom of the keyboard. The actuation can be customized per key, essentially being able to turn each key into speed type switches or have them bottom out to activate. This is a great feature. Not only can I set speed activations per key for gaming, but I can set it lower for when I’m typing. Not only can I set actuation, but I can also set dual actuation to activate different actions per key press. The secondary actuation can also be set as long as it’s greater than the primary one. For instance, I can set the W key for walking (W) on half press, and for running (Shift + W) on full press, eliminating the need to hold down Shift. However it’s not a toggle between action A and B, but rather it activates A, then B on a full press, then A again upon release. It does take some time to get used to. These are limited to only 8 keys. Having dual actions can cause problems when typing since it’s registering all the keys each press. It would type something like “WwW” each time. Having profiles linked to specific applications or games or having a default profile you can switch to helps. This brings up another issue. There's no way to easily tell which profile you’re on when switching them with the keyboard keys. There doesn’t seem to be a way to set lighting per profile. The RGB profiles are on their own and don't sync with the key profiles. The RGB can be set per key and is nice and bright. It does shine a lot of light on the table on top of the keyboard. The color is not as accurate and runs blue. The effects available are static or color shift, which can be assigned various color sequences and directions. Reactive keys can be added on top of that as well. The effects are limited compared to other brands but it’s enough for me. You can have different profiles for the lights, but again, it’s separated from the profiles for the key settings. The app is a bit messy. While it’s not too complicated to use, it's just not as organized as it could be. I have to click on Engine to select my keyboard, which then opens a separate window for the key settings. Then to change the RGB setting, I have to click on the banner on top of the key settings window, which brings me back to the previous Engine window but now it’s showing the RGB settings. There’s no way to go into the RGB settings directly from the Engines tab. You can also set a lighting profile and a key profile to a specific game in the Apps tab. Overall I think this is a nice compact keyboard for gaming. I really like that I can set the actuation and add dual actions for key presses. I love this for gaming, but this won’t be my main keyboard since I need a full size keyboard for daily tasks plus it’s a bit taller for me to use it comfortably without a wrist wrest. It can cause some issues with typing if I don’t set up specific profiles. The app is messy but it works to get the job done.

Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s great for gaming for but for anything else typing is really difficult and the steel series having their own key and not a function you have to learn all new keys again for like Spotify and also the software for the keyboard isn’t super user friendly I would recommend the TKL I’d you have the space.
