Best Gaming headsets ive tried to date!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ive gone through many headsets trying to find the perfect one. i must say these hit the nail on the head. i needed a headset that worked for PC and PS4 and these do that lovely, sound is crisp, base is good it doesnt cover up other noises but you can here the thumps when its needed. If your one who cares of audio you'll love these. leave it in stereo mode and enable game mode and immersion you wont regret it. i will say that the VSS isnt the best but you dont need it in gaming situation stereo works well. another things to add is comfort, man i could wear these for hours and i dont fill a thing on my head. they are extremely comfortable coming from someone who has tried the logitech 933 which hurt the top of my head, and cloud 2 which were also really comfortable. this headset tops both of them. its not just about the sound but the package and product your getting as a whole is much better in quality then both.

Hits some marks, misses others
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a bit of an audiophile but a huge gamer. These cans worked well for video games. They had some great battery life, were moderately comfy, and didn't get my ears hot after a while. The headband design is really hit-or-miss. I like how it secures the headset to my head, but the metal upper band doesn't give much room for size adjustments even if you loosen the ski goggle headband. Audio quality was pretty lacking. You'll notice lots of buzzing or crackling while listening to music and sometimes in game. The DTS feature (PC only) makes them sound even worse... For $150 these are way overpriced. If they costed $100 like the Corsair wireless options I'd buy them but aside from battery life and comfort (which is very hit-or-miss) they don't come up to par.

Great Headset through and through
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a bit skeptical going into this one, as the reviews in a few places were a bit weird. However, taking a chance after reading the few nitpicks and gripes I am surprised. Soundwise, the headset is fantastic. It is very balanced in it's mids, lows, and highs and does a good job with the soundstage. Comfort wise, I think after the initial period and making sure that the ski goggle strap is in the right position... this is probably my favorite headset to date. I've done a little testing on the Surround, and it is pretty accurate, albeit it does take a bit of getting used to. The microphone is excellent, although I have heard a complaint or two that it's a little quiet. Otherwise, amazing.

This headset blows away the rest
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a lightweight headset that had a retractable headset, and this one hit the spot. The headband is comfortable, and the mic quality is second to none. The on-ear mic mute is awesome, which allows me to quickly turn off the mic when my roommates are running in and out of the room. I cannot recommend these more. You will not be disappointed.

Overall great headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For me, this headset offers amazing sound and a great mic and on top of all that it even looks great but the main thing that bothers me about this headset is how uncomfortable it can be. The ear cushions around the speakers provide almost no actual cushioning so most of the time your ears are touching the speakers. While you are wearing them you might not notice anything uncomfortable but when you take them off, especially after wearing them for a good amount of time, you will realize that your ears are hurting, or atleast I could notice. Other than that this is an amazing headset. I would only recommend this headset if you don't mind your ears possibly hurting after a bit of wearing them.

Simple install, fantastic quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took it out of the box, plugged the dongle into my laptop's USB and was using the headset in less than 1 minute. Windows 10 saw it and switched my audio and microphone over automatically. That is about as simple as it gets. I have bose and sony for music and I have to say that these headphone rival both of them for comfort. Sound quality is outstanding and perfect for webinars, goto meeting, skype, etc. Highly recommend.

Simply just AMAZING
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently picked up this headset after reading some positive reviews and I must say. This is AMAZING. I play alot of video games and this headset is perfect for that. Great comfort for long gaming sessions. Crisp sound and mic quality when chatting with friends. And I love all the features that comes with it. Steelseries once again made a masterpiece.

Great Sound. A Little Small.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had plenty of different headsets ranging from beats to HD800's and these are pretty solid. They have a noise cancelling aspect to them that I really enjoy with a mechanical keyboard. The sound quality is top notch like you would expect with the price, however make sure to download the software and UPDATE it so you can use the full 7.1 audio (it's worth it.) The fit is a little snug on me but I have a pretty big head, if you don't then it would be perfect. My ears aren't getting sore, it just feels a bit snug due to the head-strap fastening in the way of ski-goggles. Padding feels great though. The on ear controls are awesome, You can mute the attached microphone (which I have no opinion on, I use a standalone.), adjust the mix of game and voice chat, and the master volume all on the headset. Overall I like it for the price, I would like a little more fitting options but it'll do!

Excellent Gaming Headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arctis 7 headphones are some of the best in the game industry. The sound quality is excellent and the comfort level is top notch. It would be nearly impossible to find a better set of headphones. Arctis 7 is a game changer for gamers.

Comfortable and sounds good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones with the goggle straps are very comfortable. I didn't even notice they were on my head. The cuffs are soft. The sound is really good to me and the mic sounds good as well. Make sure when you get these, go on the SteelSeries website and download the update.

Fails on the "real" part on mic and headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bad microphone, not actual noise cancellation. The padding on the headset is great and soft, the metal band and the soft stretchy headband beats having to adjust and readjust it everytime. The actual headset isn't DTS 7.1 and the software on/off DTS-X feature turns sound into garbage. While it works with all other devices and it does work wirelessly it is only stereo and the included software is garbage as it doesn't really improve the sound quality, much less the microphone quality -There is no option. I contacted SteelSeries tech support and created a ticket for the microphone issue and they resolved nothing other than tell me it was microphone positioning. "That I should place it directly in front of my mouth with the rounded part facing outwards" Yet the retractable microphone only extends about 5 inches max and can't be placed in front of my mouth. They are yet to answer me for a resolution. The headset is heavy, compared to any other gaming headset and honestly, I do not find it suitable for more than 4 hours of usage without break. I have used them for both, gaming and work and after putting in some work into tweaking the audio I think I have managed to get the sound just about right, nothing close to the Turtle Beach 500p/700p and 800p or the HyperCloud X or HyperCloud X2 both brands that I've used actively with PS3/4 and my computer without compromise. The microphone in my opinion may work and may have "sound cancellation" I just can't get it right, no matter how much tweaking I do, at least not without using 3rd party noise cancellation software. The soft padding does feel like it offers some noise cancellation, not active for sure, but, at least it reduces the sound from leaking out and reduces plenty of external noise from disturbing your already crappy default sound. Honestly, for the price, you are getting a decent device assuming that you can figure out (and share with everyone) a way to tweak the sound to actually use the DTS-X 7.1 feature which I'm sure is capable off, and of course the microphone's noise cancellation which is non-existent. If having a microphone with noise cancellation is your big thing, find another brand like the Logitech H800 or some other dedicated for the office only that puts the microphone ahead while sacrificing sound. If you are seeking gaming super sound and the microphone feature is of no concern then you have a plethora of headsets that are way better for the same price. I honestly, can't find a reason why I would keep this headset around for gaming, movie, music or even chatting. Other people find this as a bargain, but, honestly, what are they doing right that I can't do.

Great sound stage and good features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are pretty great, the sound stage for this is amazing I am able to directly track players in games just through sound. DTS surround is garbage, just turn it off (unless you are watching a movie or something). No RGB bullcrap. Awesome feature allows you to change audio to game only or chat only, basically you can focus the audio more towards the game or chat. This is great because some of my friends either like to yell into the mic at times and I can focus the audio to the game so my ears don't burst from his yelling and I can still hear the game fine. Mic is really nice one of the best ones, pretty much only picks up the voice, has a handy mute button and the mic lights up if its muted to let you know. Overall awesome headphones, has the steel series build quality also.

Very comfortable and sound great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are amazingly comfortable. No other brand I've tried have felt this light and virtually non-existent. The headband style makes the set feel virtually weightless. The earcups are extremely comfortable and cool, even though they are the enclosed variety, not open. My ears never feel hot or stifled. Even though I wear glasses, I can barely tell I'm even wearing these headphones even after hours of gaming or listening to music, and I have not been able to say that about any other headphones I've used. Ever. The sound is incredible. I have a lot of electronics in my gaming area, even have my Android smartphone close by most of the time, and not once in days since I started using them have I heard any distortion whatsoever. Even a pair of wireless Sennheisers I have produce a teeny amount of hiss and distortion just when changing positions, and I'm no more than 3 feet from the transmitter. But, not with these. I can't get the Arctis 7's to do anything of the sort. Crystal clear sound, always. From all over the house. Why the 4-star rating? Because the aforementioned Sennheisers, even being wireless and one of the low-end (around $90 when new) models they make, they still sound slightly better than the Arctis 7's. There is still a slight (when compared to the Sennheisers) muffled and "compressed" sound to the audio I've tried, whether it was games, or music that I'm highly familiar with. They just don't reproduce some of the awesome fidelity I'm accustomed to with better brands, even though some detailed audio testing shows that they reproduce sounds in normal human hearing ranges quite faithfully. There is just something slightly off with the sound for some reason, even after updating the firmware and installing the latest SteelSeries engine software from the manufacturer's website and tweaking all the surround sound and soundstage type settings. But, what can you expect from a "budget" gaming headset, right? The Sennheiser 120's are dedicated sound reproducers; no extra gaming electronics in there to get in the way of recreating superb sound. But, don't get me wrong. The Arctis 7's sound fantastic, work better than I could have ever hoped for, and overall, they are more comfortable than my Sennheiser HDR 120's. These Arctis 7's will become my new workhorse headphones after my 3rd pair of Turtle Beach X12 gaming headphones finally bit the dust. I was finally ready for an upgrade, and to get away from the cord. My last pair of wireless headphones before the Sennheisers were terrible at steady sound conduction (without hiss) and they would lag horribly after long periods of silence in games. The Arctis 7's are easily better than my TB X12's that aren't made anymore, which weren't all that comfortable to start with, and certainly weren't that great later in their useful lives. The Arctis 7's are great. I highly recommend them unless you're looking for audiophile quality listening. Who knows? Maybe with the right DAC and a dedicated headphone amp, these might move up to 5-star rating territory. Maybe one day I'll have that sort of budget to make that possible..

Great headset for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything advertised about headset is accurate. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars was the noise cancelling does not work as advertised. Can hear keystrokes and mouse clicks through mic.

Chat/Mix doesn't work with PS4
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Headphones to replace my Sony gold, and the sound quality is awesome, very comfortable to wear, nice microphone but unfortunately i will be taking this headphones back after 2 week because I can't get used of not having a chat/mix. the chat mix only work with PC and not with a ps4. I wish they would explained that or write it on the box so I wouldn't had wasted my time buying this headphones and taking them back wasting my gas. It's a shame because they really have great sound. I'm going for the RIG 800HS Wireless Gaming Headset since the Chat/Mix works excellent with PS4

Not worth it for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones have terrible sound, even playing with the steelseries EQ it didn't really shine anywhere and it has almost no bass. I used APO Equalizer to see if it changed the sound and yes it did it worked great, but i wasn't happy with these costing 150 bucks. Also the one thing i bought this for wasn't that great, i'm talking about the mic, i use discord with my friends and they told me it was like i was talking through a really old microphone that it sounded terrible, the mic on my Sony earphones sounds better. I just had them returned, i got the Hyper X Cloud Revolver instead, it feels a lot better, sounds a lot better and its cheaper, i would recommend the Hyper X Headphones over the arctis line.

This headset dissapointed me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually just went to best buy today to exchange my steelseries arctis 5, for the arctis 7. I loved the 5, it was comfortable, looked great and sounded great. So i planned on switching to the wireless arctis 7 as soon as best buy released it. Boy do I regret it. First of all, and this may not matter to everyone, but the headset has no lighting at all, compared to the 5 which had very nice looking lighting. Second of all, this headset will CRUSH your head. I do not know what kind of tension tests they did with this headset but someone messed up, because this headset is so tight, that you can slingshot one of the earcups onto your ear when you pull it back, and yes, it stings. I also wear glasses and this headset would INDENT my glasses into the sides of my skull. I found this extremely uncomfortable. Honestly, the tension on this headset is so much, that the top headband barely takes any weight. Not to mention the fact that the air weave fabric becomes useless when the headset is squeezed onto your head. I was very loyal to the arctis 5 and am considering switching back. I traded lighting, comfort, light weight, and breathability, for wirelessness, and no, it was not a good trade. The only reason this headset isn't getting 1 star from me is because the mic is wonderful.

So, so for PS4, probably great for PC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is quirky and limited on PS4, first the game chat balance dial is non functional on PS4. I had several disconnects and reconnects where the volume came back at a totally different level. As well as the small print notice that 7.1 doesn't work on the PS4. I wouldn't recommend for the PS4 with Sony's own headsets available. For use on PC, this would probably be a great headset for the price point as wireless.
