This movie is great. This biopic captures what the origin story of one of the greatest rap groups to ever do it was all about. The performances by the actors who played the members of NWA were superb. The emotion they put behind the characters was just amazing. For anyone wanting to follow the history of some of the greatest rap pioneers of rap I would recommend they see this movie.

Phenomenal story line of the history of black hip hop music and how NWA came about during 1986 - 1995. This movie is Real and Legit regarding life for the young hip hop/gansta artists (Easy - E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella) bringing a whole new genre of music onto the scene. Not only does the storyline bring real life to the screen, but the beats are so Dope! This is a must have dvd to add to any collection.

While you won't find any Rap music in my music collection and I listen to a variety of music, I still respect it as a form of music and it's own art form. I'm more familiar with Ice Cube as an actor than a musician/rapper. I bought this movie and I'll admit that I enjoyed the movie and seeing how Public Enemy got its start. Also how this band helped springboard Dr Dre and Ice Cube careers into what they are today.

Before I saw this movie, I did not know nor could not have cared less about N.W.A.'s history or music. After seeing it, I had to get some of N.W.A.'s classic songs (Straight Outta Compton, F*** Tha Police, Express Yourself) plus some of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre's solo works. The movie itself entertained me for its entire running time. Well acted and well written, one of the best, if not the best, music biopics ever made.

Straight Outta Compton's UHD release offers a strong upgrade over the Blu-ray. Deeper blacks, more intense colors and brilliant whites, and increased sharpness and detail make the picture quality a standout improvement, even as it's sourced from a 2K digital intermediate. The DTS:X Master Audio soundtrack offer a nice improvement over the BD's 5.1 track, too. Highly recommended.

I thought this was a good movie. Not only because I'm a fan of the group, but because it was well acted, it brought back the memories of the music I listen too. I was disappointed that the movie left out other key members and it gave some members minimal screen time. also I was disappointed some were portrayed in the movie. Anyone not into "gangsta" rap would like this movie because of the acting, and the music.

The movie itself is a 5 star. I gave a 4 because Best Buy promoted a free shirt with blue ray disc. The sign did not say limited quantities in stock. And the employee at my store said some cashiers were giving them away with all DVDs. I already know a lot of parents will not agree with me. But this movie is absolutely amazing. My kids are neither white or black and I wanted them to know the struggles of other races. My kids father is an officer. So I'm not just siding with one side. I can actually understand both sides. I believe all children should see this so that way they know what not to be. Weather it be a professional or a non criminal. My kids loved it and never believed how hard it was for some in the old days.

Watched this movie with my son. I grew up in this era. I wanted my son to see the roots of the music he listens to today came from. He didn't wana see this at first but he truly got into it and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of this I didn't know about either. So many things went down in this movie it was sad to see. I hate to know what was left out. There's only so much you can put into a movie.

I think I would have to say that this was one of my favorite movies of 2015 for sure!!! It kept me entertained from beginning to end, and that says a lot, especially since it was almost 2 and 1/2 hours long. The acting and music were both SUPERB, especially from Ice Cube's character, whom was played by his real-life son. I knew this movie definitely had to be apart of my DVD/Blu-ray collection!!!

I grew up on NWA in high school and pretty much knew most of the background story regarding the group so I had to buy the movie. Pretty accurate in most areas, though I wish the other members of the group got equal billing. All in all, I would say a greatly entertaining movie and good background for those not in the know, but also showing just how influential the band was and is to this day.

This is a great biopic film , based on the N.W.A group, rather your from that generation that remember the group at it's hype, or learning about them now,, you will enjoy this film, it's cool to see how it all came together and got started..also unique how the topic and theme with the the police still relates with what's going on today and GREAT MUSIC!!! Don't hesitate to pick up this movie..

This is a great movie that I have watched multiple times. I bought the Blu Ray because of the directors cut, it supposedly adds15 minutes or so. I never noticed the additional parts. The "extras" aren't anything great either. Though I did learn a few things. Best Buy was able to match the best price I could find and the online order and pickup was very easy. Very pleased all around.

I'm not an NWA fan or even a fan of rap in general, so it was with a fair amount of hesitation that I rented this film, but the "hype" surrounding it got the best of my curiosity, so rent it I did. And then I bought it, because it was too good to see once. If you're even remotely interested in this film, you should definitely check it out...

A timeless saga as relevant today as it was twenty years ago. Not destined for mainstream awards and recognition, the film is not constructed to entertain but more so to enlighten. It is not comfortable watch yet it is highly intriguing. Like the unyeilding aura of NWA, it makes no apologies. The story, cast and production are flawless An absolute must watch if you truly are a hip-hop head.

Great film - The actors were amazing; they really gave it their all. I feel that this film is really a piece of art regardless of how you feel about N.W.A. I was born in the 90s so this was great for me to get a sense of what was going on as far as rap in the late 80s / early 90s. There is some sexism and misogynoir which made me cringe, but, considering it's a biopic, I guess it made sense for them to include it if that's how things were. It's biased in favor of N.W.A., Dr. Dre and Cube, not really showing their bad parts (like the fact that Dre has a history of beating women), so I don't actually support some of the artists in real life. As a FILM however, this was truly outstanding.

Straight Outta Compton...is THE BEST MOVIE I Have seen in a LONG TIME! I HAD To Buy Both a Regular Copy AND a Blu-ray Disc because I just KNEW I Was going to wear one of them down watching it every week! It touches Sooo Many Emotions. It's a VERY Passionate movie. It makes you re-think decisions you've made or are thinking about making & causes you to think deeply. FIVE STARS!!!

Based on what I remember about the group NWA; I assumed that this would be another blackploitation movie. I'm so glad that I was proven incorrectly. It was extremely well written and the performances were exceptional. I really appreciate how the writers expressed the intelliegence of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. Eazy E wasn't as sinistered as previously assumed. Two Thumbs WAY UP!!!

Straight Outta Compton is a quintessential film that took me back to a time and place where rap and hip hop took an historic turn into gangsta rap. I wanted to know more about this iconic group and a look into how their stories unfolded. Ice Cube gives the world the short version of the events that led up to the group's success. I believe that the movie will win an Oscar.

Whether or not you are a fan of hip-hop or not. I think there's a little something that anyone watching can get from it. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of the N.W.A. you can't deny their impact and the foundation they created for music that followed after them. Watching this will give you a strong urge to listen to their greatest hits album immediately afterward!

Even though the original gang has aged too much to resemble their youth, the actors choses to play their parts were pretty close. I mainly bought it to hear the music in my theater room (which was no disappointment), but the plot and acting was surprisingly good. For anyone who grew up during that time and remember the music and the stories, I would recommend this movie.
