Despite the Oscar Snub, this is still a great biopic. Being from LA and growing up to the music it really took my back. I felt like I got a great history lesson to the behind the scene activities associated with the era. It also depicted the racist acts against people of color from the music industry and law enforcement that are still existing today. Great ADULT movie.

I somehow missed this in the theater, and bought it on the first day it came out. The music, the story, the acting, all tell the story of why NWA was so important, so influential, and why it was doomed from the start. We are lucky that superstars who permeate music, movies, business and the wider culture to this day got their start at this time, in this super rap group.

When this movie first came out I didn't know what to expect. In a way I felt like it was either going to be too over the top or very underwhelming. I was wrong. I think they got it just right. Those of us of a certain age, remember vividly the turbulent times that spawned gangsta rap. NWA was at the forefront. Straight outta Compton captures those times brilliantly!

I reviewed the movie as being a tale that was told about a rapper that a lot of people liked. We appreciated his music and got the chance to see a part of his life, what he was like, what he stood for and what type of person he was. But through it all I'm sure there was a lot more to know about this talented young artist who left us to soon.

Awesome movie love NWA ice cube's son did a great job potraying his father. Big fan of Easy E and the actor was a very convincing portrayal of the late great rapper. Dr Dre played by the actor and his troubles with Suge Knight was very interesting and his potrayal of the actor and rapper was very nice. Great Story Great Music and very entertaining 10 out of 10!

Let me start by saying that I am not a huge fan of their music or most rap in general but I am a movie fan, and this picture was done with some good ol' tlc. Everybody involved just spews out the image of the group and the best part is the actors themselves appear to be having fun. (when I say this, I mean that they are all in on giving the best of performances)

I was a fan of NWA and other gansta rap acts in high school and was saddened by the passing of Easy E. This movie covers when NWA first came together in 1986 up through the early 90s. It obviously is a glossed over version of what Compton really was like back then but I think they did a great job giving the viewers an inside look to the events being portrayed.

I wanted to see this movie the second after I saw the trailer the first time and it did not disappoint. The story moves along at good pace keeping you interested throughout. If you are a fan of the group you will love it and if you don't know of the group it will open your eyes to the great influence they had on many musicians over the past 25 + years.

For those that like rap music, this is Mecca. For those that don't, you may find that this film is surprisingly engaging and entertaining. Ice Cube and Dr. Dre go from kids with talent and a dream, to successful movie producers and iconic product names/ Dre Beats. Only in America !

The movie was good love the eay threy depict the characters. I think it gave us a chance to get to know each character a little bit. Wish they would develop dece character just at a bit more before he got sick. Great mobvie for 13+

Straight Outta Compton depicts the highs and lows of the hip hop group, N.W.A. in such a way that it takes you right back to the era of when this type of music was beginning to become more mainstream. The beats are fantastic in this film and Ice Cubes son does a stellar job portraying his father back in the day. Their resemblance is unbelievable!

This movie is worth all the praise it has gotten since it was released. The story is incredible and uplifting at times, but also hard to watch at times. These boys went through a lot, and it's eye-opening to see what really happened during those times. I recommend that everyone see this movie at least once, but honestly i could watch it over and over.

I love bio-pics and the ones on singers or groups are the best. This is the best one I've ever seen on a rap artist and one of the top 5 I've seen ever. Plus, it happens to be on a group in my era and one that I was a very big fan of. If you love the group and the era I think this movie does a great job of depicting the people, the time, and the era.

NWA was the the name that brought Rap into what it is today. Their coming up in the world was not always known by most people. It was interesting to see their side to the story. Although this movie goes through a lot of details, you keep asking yourself a few questions as to why or how something ended up. Watch it, you should see this for yourself.

If you are a fan of music, musician, artist, inspiring artist or just a person that enjoys hearing about how some people make it from the bottom to the top then I think you have to have this in your collection. Beautifully directed and casted to perfection. I can't wait to see part how far they are going to take this, should be pretty exciting.

Living on the east coast during this time is exactly how I remembered these actual events taking place. But what we didn't know on the east coast is that easy e couldn't rap. Because when we first encountered easy e he was already established. Wow what a great scene for those of us that didn't know how the first studio session went down. Classic.

This movie is about the legendary West Coast Gangsta rap crew N.W.A. Beautiful story about young African American men who rose to fame from Compton, CA. and their musical impact on an America that was not ready to hear their style of music. N.W.A. consists of members: Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC REN, and DJ Yella.

I really love this movie, I really like to see what Ice Cube and Dr. DRE WENT through. This is an amazing experience watching what those guys went through because I grew up listening to these guys . Eazy E's story is very interesting also.

This movie tells the behind the scenes story of hard work, sacrifice and racism endured by young men trying to establish themselves in the music industry. It's a cautionary tale with a heavy message ... these young men were not overnight successes! They were cheated out of great sums of money! They faced mighty forces of oposition and adversity!

This movie details the rise and eventual fall of the landmark rap group NWA. Solid performances throughout bring this tale to life. At times poignant, other times sad, but always grounded. Giamatti was "greasy" as the controversial Jerry Heller and his exchange with Eric Wright (Eazy E) near the end could have used some editing (he repeats himself during the exchange), but otherwise another standout performance from him. Recommend this movie for anyone remotely interested in the subject matter. It can also stand on its own due to its historical significance and impact on hip-hop music in general.
