Great performances. Especially by Oshea. Cube must be one proud father to have his son portrait his likeness

Straight Outta Compton, to me, is a movie that was long-awaited by the fans of their music and for the next generation to learn about rap and hip/hop music during the late 80s. Of course, this movie also included historical events such as the Rodney King case and the riots that broke out in Compton. I didn't expect each of these actors really do outstanding in their roles but they did. I like to point out Oshea Jackson Jr. He looked, behaved, acted, and sounded just like his father, Oshea "Ice Cube" Jackson. Straight Outta Compton became an instant classic for me. I suggest buying this movie because if you don't, well this movie is going to be around for years to come.

It's like a timewarp to the past but it is well worth watching for anyone interested in the back story of NWA. Even though I lived through the era and was not a big NWA fan when Dr. Dre dropped the Chronic it changed my view of rap in general so this movie was a great view into the past that I missed but being oblivious of what was going on with the west coast rap scene. Well worth the watch and purchase the actors are great and the concert scenes are very well done. It really should have won an oscar for something it really is that good and yes I did love the Revenant also. Buy it watch it you this is a piece of Americana that should be witnessed by all.

Wow! the way it was then and how it has to be now! My hat off and I applaud first the entire talented group, N.W.A, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the crew. Thanks for standing up, speaking up and taking on the establishment head on and becoming the staple in society. Great job F. Gary Gray producing and directing this rising all star cast that I hope get the credit which is deserved for telling a story and pulling me in, making me become a part of the experience. Okay, if you haven't seen or picked this up yet, I suggest you make your way to Best Buy and get your copy which includes the Blu-Ray, DVD plus a Digital HD. This is a straight up must see!

NWA was a response to the gang violence and the drug trade cropping up around these guys in the 80's. Gangsta rap was born from the streets of Compton CA and this movie is a great retelling of their story. They really focus on the creation of the group and their seminal album but cover enough of the split of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, but really don't cover much of the 2nd album or Eazy's solo career before his passing. Sure wish they gave MC Ren more props for his contribution but seeing Suge Knight and Snoop Dogg enter the picture was a cool addition. Any hip hop fan should own this movie and of course the soundtrack is banging.

I was never previously a fan of Rap. Then I saw Straight Outta Compton. I can't say I suddenly saw the light and became a fan of rap, but I certainly gained a new appreciation after watching. This film is culturally significant, I am not sure if it's 100% accurate but given that members of the band were involved I would think it's pretty close. A story of persistence and courage, and the effects of fame on people. The movie itself is artfully done and has a great soundtrack not only from NWA but also for Joseph Trapanese, who seriously enhanced the impact of several scenes. Highly recomended

I had low expectations at first for a bio-pic about a rap group from a quarter century ago, but F. Gary Grey really put this film together well. And is now one of my favorite movies, ( and as a movie reviewer that's saying something ) if you're the falling asleep in the midst type it may not be for you at its 144 Minute theatrical cut, but if you're a film buff then I recommend watching the 166 Minute Director's cut! Yes its a long one but it really tells a true story very well. Not to mention it is the most successful film by an African American director. Classic film rating scale: 4/4 Stars.

Not since Django have I libidinally enjoyed a film. Of course there were the films, The Walk and Everest, where I watched middle class spoiled brats do amazing things that threaten their lives (even their nose and their cheeks in some instances). But there is something about watching black people place themselves (apparently) into threatening situations and still look cool that makes everyone happy. It’s the Jazz Age of the 20s and the 40s and 50s all over again. Long live the sense of life and death in films like this...

Being a fan of NWA, I needed to see this movie. And it did not disappoint. In my opinion, it was one of the best films of 2015. Very well written, acted, and directed. Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell's portrayals of Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, respectively, are definitely something to see, even if you aren't familiar with either rapper. Experience the culture and beginnings of one of the greatest rap groups of all time and see Straight Outta Compton, if you haven't already.
