good roku, does not work with universal remote

I took off two stars because it does not work with my Logitch Universal remote. I have to use two remotes now. Darn first world problems!

Alright, just not sure how to access local shows

Not a great device or service

I did everything the instructions said to do including the website online and eventually it worked after some hard resets and two router restarts. Kind of incredible how difficult this was. Then, the next two times using the device it couldn’t find the WiFi. Maybe people had better luck with plugging a cable in directly. Setup was a little ambiguous as you have to setup an account with a credit card. (I was unaware of this being required). Then you have to be careful which channels or shows you select in case you accidentally choose a pay one and don’t realize it. Most services seem to be going this way so it could just be that the payment part should be much more explicit and less devious. There are already lawsuits for iOS apps that continue to charge you a recurring fee even if you didn’t realize you signed up for a monthly service.

Roku stick works fine

Great...while it worked

This was our fifth one, and the most packed with features. We’ve noticed that the last two we have bought have both been buggy and frequently lose the connection with the remote control. This device was no exception. In addition, the device just quit connecting to our wireless router less than a month after purchase so it had to go back. We love the Roku user interface but have decided to just use the Smart TV to access Netflix, Hulu, etc. instead.

About once a week, I must reset the device, remote and TV to get the equipment back in sync. Sometimes the remote will not work and I am forced to reset the remote and/or the HDMI stick (which entails my pulling out the 80LBS stand for access). The reviews on this device were wrong as it does not work very well. I will buy a better item and throw this in the trash. Buyer beware.

Other devices currently accessing the network, such as other streaming players, computers, game consoles, and mobile devices may affect the quality of your network connection. You might want to temporarily stop using any such device and check if that makes a difference.
If your router and Roku device both support 5GHz, you could also try connecting to the 5GHz wireless network for improved network strength.
Alternatively, it may also help to manually change the wireless channel. You can find more details about how to executive this linked in the FAQ article above.

Roku streaming stick.

Doesn't Last Very Long

My last Roku stick had a chronic overheating issue after just a year. I bought this one as a replacement and it has a sound issue after 6 months. The sound just goes off. I've been a Roku customer since I was a cord-cutting pioneer around 2010, but the quality of the devices has become unreliable. I am unsure if I would buy another Roku streaming device at this point.

4K looks awesome
