not to older folks friendly, may need to find a simple item for my senior parents to use

If you are looking for a cheaper way to get movies and TV and don't mind watching virtually nothing current or live, this is the product for you. If you don't want to see any movies that have been released in the last 10 years, this is the product for you. Every show, every movie, that you would really want to watch has a fee attached. Pay those fees for a month and you may as well keep your cable box. It's ends up being cheaper and is certainly a lot more relevant. The claim is they have thousands of things to watch. The reality is you never heard of 99.9% of it nor would you ever want to. I hate paying the cable companies their absurd prices, but it you want live and current content, that's still the only choice.

Pretty basic remote. Buttons do not light up so you can see anything in the dark.

We hoped we’d be able to cut the cord with cable via this purchase. Roku doesn’t work consistently. Half the buttons on the remote don’t function. We have the fastest internet available AND hard wired the access to the television, in addition to a mesh network, and Roku still malfunctions. Maybe in 5 years or so they’ll have perfected it, but it’s a long way off

Has a lot of options and shows. It seems to take awhile to load, but that could be our internet.

Love the roku stick but seems to break rather easy

I saved twenty dollars by buying it before Black Friday.

The remote isn’t broken or anything but for some reason, it just randomly gives up even with new batteries. Roku is great but that remote ruins it for me. It wasn’t always like this tho. I’ve had it for almost 2 year and that’s when the problem starting happening. My mom has the same complain and she doesn’t live with me.

The remote only works 60% of the time. I have to continually press the button before it does what I want. When you try to use the app to use your phone as a remote it doesn’t connect. Even though it appears as the available device. I have to go and unplug it completely and retry several times before it decides it wants to work.

Setup was easy. Adding channels of your choice, nearly impossible.

Minimalist controller for ROKU streaming stick. Needs a mute button though.

Even though all of our equipment and cables were HDCP 2.2 compliant, Roku wouldn’t work, because it did not detect the correct HDCP PROTOCOL. Not great, because HDCP protocol works well only for the manufacturers to make equipment outdated quicker. Anyway we had the correct licensing protocol, but still did not work. The amazon streaming player worked much better.

echo dot easy to use, customer support not good. enclosed instructions not helpful

I used this for Hulu for a few days but it wasn't worth the hassle and returned it.

Purchased September 2020. This worked for 2 months. Then the audio started lagging the video. Every 2-4 minutes, have to stop and restart what I’m watching. Works on other devices so it is the Roku, By then it was too late to return it to BestBuy. It is now June 2021. I’ve lost count of the number of support emails I’ve sent to Roku and the number to time I’ve repeated the same set of instructions. I’ve asked three time for an exchange. Twice I’ve been told yes, then nothing, no return label, no instructions. I’ve had it. Support is awful. If a set of pat instructions does not work, then crickets - nothing. I would never recommend Roku based on their support. It feels like they are running out the clock so they can tell me the warranty and they won’t take it back. Never purchasing a Roku product again!

Too expensive. I think the price should really be lowered by 25%

I bought two of these. I loved the idea of cutting the cord. But, I don't have a smart TV, so Roku was what everyone seemed to recommend. It takes a long time to boot up and the remote doesn't work sometimes. You have to unplug and replug the unit from the TV and then take out an reinstall the batteries. Wouldn't buy again

My husband purchased the Roku- Streaming Stick+4K Streaming Devicewith Roku Remote and TV Controls- Black. For our new Sun Porch. We thought it was going to be a great addition but instead it was not. It was easy to install.
