Customer service is useless.

The remote control loses connection constantly. I tried every troubleshooting tip Roku asked me to do. Nothing worked. First, they sent another remote with the same results. Next, they send me another refurbished remote and Rokustick . Still doesn't work properly. The worst part is dealing with customer service that is definitely outsourced, which is a huge problem. It's been three months and I haven't gotten anywhere with them.

Didn't notice any different in range

The range wasn't any better than my old Roku even though it says it should be. So for a Roku it's great, but because this was supposed to be extended range, it only gets 2 stars.

It overheats

Roku doesn't see my Netgear wifi network

I have dozens of other devices (iphones, android phones, windows pcs/laptops, macs, printers, dvd players, speakers, etc.) that see my wifi network just fine. Roku support said they have a know issue with Netgear routers and sometimes they are incompatible. I've never seen a device that doesn't even show a nearby wifi network in it's scan. It's strange that the Roku network scan doesn't even see my wifi network. I don't want to buy a new router to gamble that it's compatible with Roku so I will be returning this stick.

I see they’ve also sometime in the past few years started showing annoying ads in the Home Screen. Who wants a set top box with ads? Yuck.

Loses internet constantly

Rebooting solves it temporarily. We end up streaming from chromecast all the time because this doesn't work. Chromecast, streaming from our laptop, and all other internet services work fine. We even mailed our original roku stick back to roku to receive a warranty replacement. They shipped us a brand new streaming stick and we have the same exact issue.

Based on your description of the same issue with two devices, it sounds like there could be an issue with the strength of your wireless connection (even though other devices are streaming). Be sure that your router is within range of the device and avoid obstructions like cabinets and walls when possible.
You can check the strength of your internet connection by going to Settings > Network > Check connection. This will test the quality of the signal and also measure the speed of that connection, to be sure that you're signal is strong enough.

No longer returnable NOT WORKING after one month

The Roku never worked great, but after one month it is OVERHEATING AND LIGHTS FLASH constantly at the back of the TV. Not acceptable. What a waste of money. Contacts with Roku never resulted in any real help setting it up, either. AVOID TERRIBLE return policy from Best Buy

Use to be great, but trash before 2 years of use.

Roku got greedy with HBO so now no HBO MAX on Roku, and now mine has trouble connecting to the wifi the every other device is fine connecting to. Just watching YouTube at 1080P it was pausing, buffering then unable to stream in 1080P while my phone, on the same stream, in the same room on the same wifi network had zero issues on a 400+Mbps connection.

You may want to try finding a cooler location for your Roku player. For example, avoid placing the unit inside a cabinet or other closed space. Really poor product, only work if you stood next t

After three days of having to get up and point the remote behind the tv. We pulled it out and used the $39 4K roku premium. It has worked perfectly But the stick @ $59 really was a disappointment

Dead in 4 months

I've had problems with it for months requiring repeated resets, delays/buffering so bad it makes watching a movie impossible, sometimes it operates so slowly that you can't even browse the content of streaming services like Amazon Prime to see what's available. Often, it seems to decide to route through servers in Germany or Asia, giving me failure messages in languages I don't understand so I have no idea what's wrong with the thing.

Poor quality and customer support

There is no customer support number or chat on their website and the web form keeps saying "There was an error submitting your request. Please try again." My property manager said that they've had several other complaints about Roku's failing within their warranty period.

Disappointing clarity
