    It’s BS you cannot use premium services for free. You have to pay a monthly fee when you have the stupid service or not like Apple TV, HBO, max, etc. etc. there’s all a monthly fee nothing is for free. I already have Netflix and cable why do I need this it’s a joke.

    Bought this from Best Buy in late November. Noticed right away this thing really runs hot. But it worked fine for the first two weeks. After that I found that if I did not unplug it the night before it would be locked up and unresponsive in the morning. Shortly thereafter we were having to restart it every hour or two because it would lose connectivity. After about 6 weeks it is totally unwatchable. Watched a 1.5 hour movie last night and we had so many problems it took 3 hours to watch. Best Buy will not handle the warranty if you do not buy their extra service plan. They only have a 15 day return period so they told us we are out of luck. Have to go back to Roku for the warranty. I remember when Best Buy had better service than this.

    I bought it when it first came out. It was terrible . I had issues with streaming. Video will always stop. I compared it with my old Roku stick and my old stick worked with no issues.. maybe the new stick needed a software upgrade to fix the bugs.

    I was using the steaming stick for about a week when I just happened to notice that the stick was SUPER hot. There was no warning notice like my other Roku product, but I suspect if one were to allow this thing to go along without checking it all of the time, it might eventually get hot enough either ruin the device or, maybe even cause a fire. The only safe way to use it I have found ids to unplug it at night. BTW, customer service was less than helpful, as usual...They just ask 1000 questions in the hopes you (me) will decide it's not worth the effort and just unplug it every time.

    Lousy wifi remote

    For a wifi enabled device, the stick and remote are too sensitive to interference according to their customer support. Remote consistently de-pairs from the stick so the Roku is unusable until a power off reset. Google it. It is quite common. So I contact customer service a number ot times. First they send an hdmi extender. Doesn't help. Then they send a replacement remote. Doesn't help. Third time they suggest changing the wifi channel on my router. Doesn't help. Each contact is at least 1/2 hr wait and up to hour and a half for "help". Then each session is at least a half hour long while they walk thru the steps of resetting the device and re-pairing the remote Suggestion to Roku - just tell people to return it if they experience any difficulties. You wasted my time, your "support" people's time as well as the expense of sending the extender and replacement remote. I have a printer that also creates an ad hoc wifi connection and it works fine in the same environment. I suspect the wifi hardware in the stick, being much smaller, is horribly deficient.

    We bought this product in February during a sale and took advantage of the free 3-month trial of SlingTV. Trouble began almost immediately because the Roku often had trouble keeping the wifi connection or reporting slow throughput or a weak signal when other wireless devices were seeing a strong signal. The Roku has a tendency to overheat after a few hours and the heat seems to cause its signal problem. Not good if you're binge watching any series longer than three hours. Pardon my language, but this thing is crap.

    BEWARE OF STREAM STICK + IF YOU VALUE YOUR TV

    I AM POSTING THIS REVIEW TO TELL THE WORLD TO BEWARE WHEN YOU INSTALL A ROKU STREAMING STICK PLUS!! My install was going fine until I got to the screen where you chose pixel quality. I Believe I chose 1080I. When advanced to the next screen, the screen turned green and flashed a message for a second saying "your TV has been compromised...you have to finish......"and then the screen went totally black for a bit and bounced me out of the setup mode altogether. I shut the TV off, and tried to start install over but when I turned the TV on, it flashes a picture of the show for a few seconds, and then the screen goes black again. The sound stays on but no picture. I tried this multiple times and even did a factory reset of the TV and it didn't help. I reported it to ROKU and they have not responded. Their automated robo customer service is a joke! It is going on 3 weeks and I have not received any satisfaction. The last thing I wanted to do was broadcast my frustration, but what else can you do except WARN everyone that this is what might happen to your TV. THE ROKU STREAKING STICK PLUS DAMAGED MY TV THAT WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. THEY BACK IT UP BY ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! - PITIFUL! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU VALUE YOUR TV!!! and tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW who's looking to buy this product to beware!! I see all of the 5 star ratings for this STAIN STICK. I'm glad you had no trouble. I had to buy a new a LG 43" TV to replace my Samsung TV that the streaming stick damaged. I got it a Bestbuy. - great service! Have a great day!     Bait and switch

    Purchased several Roku devices to run on all of my TV. I use You Tube TV (checked to make sure they support which they did) and now they stopped supporting You Tube TV? Every other streaming service does. Frustrated that I bought Roku now it is garbage. Feels like a bait and switch. Will never purchase Roku anything again.

      Hi Jim! Thank you for your feedback. Roku’s contract with Google for the distribution of the YouTube TV channel expired and it is no longer available to download from the Roku Channel Store. Those who have have already downloaded the YouTube TV channel can continue using it for now.

      However, users can access YouTube TV within the YouTube channel on your Roku player. Start by going to the YouTube channel on your Roku; press left on the directional pad on your Roku remote to open the left hand side menu for YouTube, then scroll down to the bottom of the menu and you'll see YouTube TV.

    Bad experience with Roku

    I bought this product and ended up returning it. First, it took more than a day to activate it. Roku acknowledged on their website that there was a known issue regarding device activation. Then it took me another day to create an account. I couldn't do it on either my PC, laptop or iPad. After emailing Roku, and another day, they suggested to try another browser. Although their website didn't function properly for me using Firefox or Safari, it did work with IE. Their tech support videos didn't play for me on Firefox either. Meanwhile, the Roku device wouldn't turn on using the remote that came with it. I had to unplug it each time to turn it on. I had read about a known and serious issue with these remotes burning through batteries, and that may have been the problem. On top of all that, the Spectrum TV app for Roku and other streaming devices was not working properly, although that is not the fault of Roku. Anyway after a lot of wasted time and trouble, I decided it was not worth it and I returned the device today to Best Buy who refunded my money, no questions asked.

    We need the HDMI adapter cable and have been trying to get the cable on their web site for over a week now. Get message "can not process" or "out of stock try again". Problem is that you need to reenter all personal information EACH time only to receive the above messages! Why not simply take the required info and send the cable when available? Why not tell people it is unavailable, before they enter everything! Really a stupid and annoying system for a tech company!

    Bought the stick two weeks ago. While watching TV it suddenly stopped working. While troubleshooting with tech support for over an hour they decide I need to ship it back on my dime, wait for them to receive it, they have 3-5 business days to process it, and it they determine it was not my fault would mail me a replacement stick. Who is going to wait for two week for a warranty replacement while continuing to pay for subscriptions?

    Poor customer service. Although Roku promises a response from a customer service rep within 24 hours, they have not answered my questions about parental controls that I asked FIVE days ago. Parents, be forewarned: parental controls on Roku do not prevent inappropriate content from being advertised and suggested. Inappropriate screen savers are suggested and can be previewed even with parental controls enacted. The only thing the parental controls can do is prevent a channel/screen saver from being downloaded or purchased.

    Buyer Beware

    Roku has begun to randomly remove channels. Spectrum is no longer available. Customer support offers no explanation other than to play the blame game. We all know who loses when customers are pitted against big corporations. What will be the next channels to be removed Netflix’s, Amaozon Prime ? In this day in age you have to ask yourself. Do I really need a Roku when most smart TV all have streaming capability's to stream your favored providers app.

    Just buy the replacement remote from the start.

    Maybe it's a good device. I wouldn't know because my remote hasn't worked from the start. First, it appeared to be a battery issue. Bought new batteries. Then it appeared to be a pairing issue. Repaired. Then, another battery issue, despite the fact that I'd only been able to use the Roku 2x since the new battery because the pairing was troublesome. Now, it just altogether stopped working and I have to spend money to buy a new remote, because even though the remotes are consistently problematic, Roku won't do anything about it but sell you a new one.
