Watched the extended version of this movie on blu ray. When this movie was in theaters the reviwers did not praise this movie very well as they do always with action flicks. So I decided to skip the theaters and wait to pick the movie up on blu ray. I thought this was a good movie for what the movie was. If your a fan of video games,anime and The Matrix and can answer yes to all 3 then you will like the movie. The director is also the same director of 300 and The Watchmen movie. If your a fan of those movies is another reason to get this movie.With no spoilers given you must watch the movie from the begining to end. When I get a chance I want to give this movie another spin on rewatch. The blu ray is stunning and demo worthy material for a big screen home theater system. Some noticable grain in certain scenes. Seems those shots are intended by the director for a film quality look.

When I first watched the theatrical release I did not know what to make of the movie, however, I've watched it several times since then (including the extended version) and I found the movie to be very enjoyable overall. The movie makes you think and has excellent visuals. The movie is an action roller coster ride through some interesting fantasy worlds. If you like surreal fantasy and movies that play head games then you will enjoy this movie. Also the soundtrack is very good and a must have. There is a good amount of bonus content on both the theatrical and extended discs. I especially enjoyed the director's "Maximum Movie Mode" version, it is chock full of production stills, etc.

This was a sleeper film that jumped out and bit me! I didn't know about this film until it came to DVD, then I saw posters for it at the local video stores. Still, I didn't know anything about it so I moved on. Then I stumbled across it on one of my movie channels and was immediately drawn in. I liked it so much that I waited around for the west coast showing and watched it again to see what I missed (which turned out to only be about 10 minutes). The multi-layers of fantasy that tell the full story are too beautiful to describe justly. Add to that the great soundtrack and you have a winner. I can't recommend this film enough.

My first impression of this movie mesmerized me. The action, the love, the dreamery type of images, the soundtrack.. Just amazing.. The colors, the cute little innocent looks of the women that played in this movie, only to know that payback is crucial when you mess with the innocent. My psychology, super brilliant thought process behind the creation of this movie was awesome. The battles of war scenes were amazing.. I would highly recommend this movie to action and vivid minded buffs.. You have to have a good imagination in order to like this movie.. It's passionate, sensitive, hard-core, its for young adults and older.. I wouldn't recommend for even 13 year olds. Keep your teens innocent. The graphics are drabby and intense with bold colors, the sultry seductive scenes are very mind blowing...

When I first saw this in theater (not 3D). The storyline was great. Not so much the picture. Months later, after getting a Samsung 40" LED for my birthday. I decided to rent this movie on Blu-ray to give it a go again (before Blockbuster close by my house.) I liked it better on Blu-ray. Video quality looked great on 1080p. Specially during the dark scenes throughout the movie. The LED really made it looked brighter. Fine textures are crisp and refined. But the video quality couldn't top the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track. LFE output is unbridled and untamed, infusing every enormous demon-Samurai weapon, thundering mini gun, firing booster rocket, exploding biplane, deafening dragon roar, speeding train and devastating bomb with weight, power and ferocity. So I went ahead and bought the Extended Edition on Black Friday for $8.51 after tax.

I saw this movie in theaters after watching the trailer. I didn't go in expecting a very deep story. I went in looking forward to the awesome visual effects and action. This movie was good for that. The story was actually better than what I expected. Don't think I will be buying online at Best Buy anymore, because the shipping is so slow.

I couldn't wait for this movie to come out in the Theater.... Even the Music was awesome with Bjork, Roxy Music and others... I Was first in line to see this one ! When the movie first started I thought I was in the wrong theater and that I had wandered into a horror movie, it looked nothing like the movie trailers I had been seeing on TV ... but after 10-15 minutes we were fighting Humongous Shogun Warriors Matrix style !!! Cinematics were a blast ! The story was suspenseful and Very Visual. It was different rooting for some Chicks instead of Bruce Willis or Some wimpy spider-man dork. I was jammin during this movie both with the action and the tunes !!! After it was over, When I was leaving the theater I was saying that I'm going to OWN a 3D TV before that movie comes out for home viewing. ....I worked hard, replaced a lot of equipment, bought new cables, 3D glasses, Blu-ray 3D player, etc and was ALL ready for the release. well, here's the big release..... (hear the crickets?) What, no 3D ?????????????????????????????????? I'm not buying it.

Fantastic movie, amazing cinematic, and a very well done plot with plenty of twist and turns. This movie is simply Art, so if your not the artistic type and all you care about is brain numbing simplicity and action then this movie wont be for you.

Suckerpunch visually stunning, action packed dream-like sequence with a powerful soundtrack. Let go of reality and enjoy this romp through ancient Japan with giant mecha samurai, WWII with steam powered German zombies, raging dragons, and more. You may get a little lost if you're trying too hard, but you certainly won't lose interest. The costuming is gorgeous, and overall this is one of the most imaginative movies released in many a year. It is a huge relief from typical Hollywood. Girl power, tragedy, rebellion, escapism, and fast paced! I would strongly recommend this for any gamer, Japanophile, steampunker, action fan, and anyone wanting a unique and exciting film.

I must say that this film had some great visuals, but lacked in overall story and acting. The base story was too simple while the smaller fantasy sequences were epic in nature, which of course was the point of the story, but really felt short in the delivery. I give the director credit for attempting this, but the film probably needed a few more drafts before beginning filming. There are a lot a regurgitated comic book style concepts which would have made better stories on their own rather than being broken up by the boring back story. But I still had fun watching...

striking visuals that almost look as though they jumped out of the pages of a comic book or a video game. the plot may seem thin to some or too confusing to others. either way, the intense action kept me glued to the screen.

The action was great. I love how everything just flowed together in the movie. You were not left wondering what happened or how did that happen.

Ignore the people that don't understand it. The first time I watched it, I was confused when it was over but between my friends and I we were able to piece it together. The second time was MUCH more enjoyable. You need to pay attention to what is happening in the beginning in order to really understand the story being told.

Definitely a great action flick. I love the style they did this movie in. I don't want to spoil it by giving anything away so I will just say it's a very different style. The Blu Ray offers stunning visuals and great audio.

The dream sequences were the best part, the story had a few head scratching moments, but I am a fan, and love the look of the film, the character design. Go for the extended version, explains a few more things.

I secretly enjoy many Zack Snyder's movies (300, and yes even the Watchmen) however, this title really left a lot to be desired. A paper thin and pulp-ish plot strung together with vignettes of over-the-top CGI action sequences that just land with a dull thud in the viewers lap. On the surface, what's not to like? Dragons, zombies, Năzi's, even a giant mini-gun toting Samurai Oni round out a list fantastic villains and obstacles filling a series of action sequences that just leave one numb and indifferent. Why? Because the characters, despite being gorgeous, are unappealing and never develop any empathy in the audience. There is some grain of me that sees this developing a possible cult following, but it lacks the unique characters that typically vault a film into cult-classic status (there is no Ash from housewares here, just characters for convention cosplayers). You can craft a film with hotties swinging katanas, flying WWII era bombers, and capping cartoon-ish villains all day long- but if no one cares about them it's all for nought. The thirteen year old kid in me really wants to love this film, but it is better left as a f℮tish film for feminist hoplophiles or, perhaps, a forgettable rainy day movie. I hope you enjoyed it more than I did. The Blu-Ray disc image it self looks decent, sound is decent, nothing stunning or a benchmark settings by any standards.

This movie was totally slept on. The visuals are awesome. The plot is wild. The action sequences are great. The acting and actors do a great job here.

It is a fantasy, but has sadness involving a young woman trying to escape being lobotomized to protect the reason for her younger sister's death.

Looked awesome on blu-ray!! First thought them movie seemed a little different but once you get stuck in the movie it had a very good story at the end!

PICKED UP AT BESTBUY FOR $9.99. I SIMPLY LOVE THIS MOVIE. GREAT ACTION AND ADVENTURE. VIDEO QUALITY IS 4.5/5 AND AUDIO IS 5/5. IT CONTAINS BOTH THE PG-13 AND EXTENDED CUT R-RATING. I ONLY WATCH THE R RATING. GREAT MOVIE FOR ALL COLLECTIONS. STAY HEAVY!!!
