    NOT FOR HIGH-END CAMERAS

Overall, this product performs as intended: It provides an external flash for a camera at an affordable price. However, when I attached it to my EOS R5 I noticed a lot of issues that had it lagging behind. Firstly: It uses a visible range finder. For the most part this isn't a problem unless you're taking portrait photos and you're shining red cross hatch lasers in your subjects eyes. Then when I tried using the rapid fire function I saw that the 1/250 repeated flash was inaccurate after the first shot. The flash would go off, but the photos show that the flash is too slow to keep up with continuous shooting. Does it perform at lesser work loads? Yes. Can it handle the advertised universal task? NO. If you just need a flash for rare occasions, this is okay. If you are wanting very technical photography this doesn't cut it.

Great flash for starters. It gets the job done for the most part. PROS: Ease of use, price, power of flash CONS: Not compatible with flash triggers, will not work off camera unless camera has Bluetooth flash connection.

In my experience wireless enabled flashes require a wireless transmitter or if they are to work in concert with other wireless flashes they need to be of the same manufacturer. Not so with this flash unit. Solidly constructed, dependable and wireless enabled with my Nikon D750 right out the box. Great purchase.

Great add on flash attachment. Was looking for one for my camera that was at a reasonable price that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg

As you know the same one name brand is $150 more. Happy i found this. As soon as i got home i put it on and starting shooting random stuff in my apartment and the flash works as well if not better than i expected. Very happy with this product.

    Good, relatively cheap, poor manual

The flash unit is great, but the manual did not translate well to English, if that’s your preferred language if so you may have trouble figuring out how to use this unit. It fits the hot shoe on my Nikon D3400 fine, activates when it’s supposed to, and how it’s supposed to. I can’t justify the multi-hundreds of dollars flash units often go for, this one serves my meager needs just fine.

I use to think external flashes were crazy expensive but this one was so cheap. I am not experienced with flash, so I know it’s not the best out there but it got the job done.

Flash works great, but stock up on batteries!

We use rechargable batteries in this flash, and it seems like we get one, to sometimes two sessions with the flash before we have to change them out. The flash does a great job of zooming with the lens, and putting the right amount of light where we need it, but man those batteries are killer!

Cold shoe mount flash is truly the one of the brightest on camera flashes that I have ever used. Adjusting for overexposure, I am finding, is accomplished using the omnidirectional flash angle. Very nice. Easily overlooked versus bigger name brands.

I am using this as a strobe/off camera flash mostly for real estate photography. It has some great power and a ton of features for the price. Works well within the multi flash environment but also right on the hot shoe. I am often bouncing off ceilings and it has a nice wide flooding affect.

The first one I got was an open box model, and I could not change it from manual and slave mode. The mode buttton did nothing no matter whether attached to the camera or not, camera turned on or off, flash turned on or off, etc. I exchanged for a new one and right away it gave me the modes to change it to ttl, manual, or whatever I wanted... but had to pay $25 more to upgrade to a new one when the open box "excellent" one should have worked. It was like a bait and switch. Of course this is the fault of Best Buy and not Sunpak.
