The Worst Treatment To The Man Of Steel.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I so disappointed in this 4k release. Superman deserves a better upgrade in visual and audio quality.

Transfer quality is not worthy of a 4K release
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the Krypton scenes were intentionally shot "soft", the credits do not "pop" as they should and the rest of the movie is a sub-par transfer. No bonuses.

Should have been better
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I love this movie the resolution was not great. In some parts you can see the tiny pixels. The audio was good! It really was not a 4K movie

Great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this quad set as a quadrilogy and it was super cheap at the time... I found a bunch of them in the beginning for fifty dollars for all four. This set is a four disc set, original theatrical, and extended movie included. Some Superman 1941 cartoons, Some really good behind the scenes of Superman. Christopher Reeve did a good job, so did Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman... It is open for you to interfere with the human race... classic lines... Richard Donner is a classy director. Not quite the best Superman movie, Superman II was my favorite, this came in a close second.

And the saga begins with Superman The Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.5 of 5 stars for the comic book based movie Superman The Movie. This movie starts the franchise with the destruction of Krypton following sending of its last survivor to Earth. From the landing of his ice craft in the fields to his experiences in high school to his moving to Metropolis and working at the Daily Planet, this movies sets the basic history and story of Superman. An all star cast includes: Reeve, Hackman, Brando, Ford, Perine and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane. This movie has the sequence with Lane in a long gown going flying with Superman. Once Superman is established as a character, we enter the meat of the movie where Superman fights against Lex Luther (Hackman). Helped by Perine & Beatty's characters, Luther learns to use Kryptonite to neutralize Superman. Then he steals a nuke for purposes of setting off a major Earthquake on the west coast to move "ocean-front property" to the east. A grand movie with sweeping music and visuals, this is a really fun movie and worth watching several times!

Should be a requirement in Blu-ray
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is coming from someone who has seen this film in the theater, vhs, dvd, and now blu-ray. Seeing it in blu-ray was like watching it all over again. The resolution is amazing !!! Between the clarity of the background shots and the clean up of where Superman is optically added to the shot, this is a must have in any movie collection. The sound clarity was awesome too, with good balance. I've noticed with a lot of older movies converted to surround sound, the rear channels get overloaded with what should be heard with the front channels. Not so in this case, the sound was rich and full and never sounded metallic or faint. At the end, when Superman turns back time, you can actually hear the sound go from left to right and right to left depending on what direction he was flying. It's nice to see that someone took the time to remaster the sound correctly. I noticed a lot of different things when I watch movies, and I discovered a few things due to the clarity that I had never noticed before, but I won't post spoilers. Anyways, I'd recommend this blu-ray copy !!!

An old favorite is brand new again!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my favorite movie of all time and this upgrade to the Blu Ray format makes this old favorite brand new all over again. There is a timeless quality to this film and the Blu Ray format makes it all the more enjoyable and desire to introduce to a whole new generation of people. The picture and the sound are phenomenal and the overall quality of the DVD is awesome. Very highly recommended. Do yourself and your family a favor and be sure to add this classic masterpiece to your collection. All current successful comic book movies a great debt to Superman The Movie and director Richard Donner. Blu Ray all the way and this is a great example of why!

The best superhero movie ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tread of turning comic book heroes into movie franchises which still continues to this day began with Richard Donner's sublime take on the Man of Steel (which, appropriately, was released when Superman turned 40). Christopher Reeve was, in the minds of many, heavensent to play the title role and its his work which brings much of the picture's emotion and humor to the fore. However, the other roles are also letter perfect, including Gene Hackman's funny & serious Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder's spunky Lois, & Marlon Brando's sympathetic and commanding Jor-El. The great SFX & John Williams music are the icing on this delicious cake.

Such a Glorious Superhero Masterpiece
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Superman: The Movie is an amazing movie for 1978. The effects are great for 1978. Christopher Reeve is an awesome Superman actor. Richard Donner did an astonishing job making this movie. Marlon Brando as Jor-El has great acting in the part where Jor-El says his goodbyes to his infant son. The Superman theme by John Williams is awesome. I love the sound of the theme. It's very heroic. If you want to show your friends some superhero stuff, you got to show them this movie. If you're a die hard Superman fan or casual movie goer, you must own it.

4K is a Mixed Bag of Goodness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I watched this movie today and there is a lot of grain in the Krypton and Smallville scenes, but once it gets to Metropolis, the grain becomes less noticeable and the HDR kicks in. There is some HDR in the Krypton scene. Space and night scenes are dark and Superman is more defined in 4K. This is the best format for this movie and definitely an upgrade from the blu-ray format. If you're a true fan of the original Superman movie, I would advise you to grab it.

The best!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This wonderful movie has gotten a GREAT treatment, on 4k. It looks amazing and it's so nice to see Superman's suit be a consistent, deep blue instead of the greenish tint they had to use against the blue screen, back in '77. Love this movie and love this 4k version!

Worth It For Die Hard Fans
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of very few Blue-Ray titles that really excels, as the format should, in comparison to its standard dvd counterpart. Beautiful image quality and loads of bonus features make it worth every penny to a die-hard fan. For those who like the movie, but aren't crazy about it, I would recommend the standard dvd to save money or wait until the price on this one drops.

Buyer Beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Warner has pressed new discs that have omitted the Dolby 5.1 mix and replaced with an inferior DTS-HD MA 2.0 stereo mix, yet didn't bother to change the UPC.

a classic with great extras
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. How can you go wrong with the original Superman. It's a reminder of how fantastic a super hero movie CAN be with a great story and acting. The bonus features are wonderfully entertaining and informative for the inner geek in all of us.

Glad for new cut
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was happy to see that the new "director's cut" was included with the release of this DVD. It added to the plot of the film and gave us something new to see on a movie that many of us have seen several times.

Excellent purchase!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's amazing how much these older movies are enjoyed with a good hi def transfer. I've seen this on DVD and wasn't interested. The reds, blues and green pop out at you on this bluray - - reminder you how much you enjoyed this movie when it was released. Worth the purchase.
