Johnny Depp leads this movie to being my favorite musical ever.

We love the movie. The actors were well chosen. The singing was good.

I am a huge movie fan and appreciate great films. This is the first movie I can remember actually turning off. The movie looks really cool and could have a great story, but I couldn't get over all the singing throughout. Johnny Depp is NOT a very good singer and the singing will eventually wear you out. This is my review. Some people may like it though. This is definately not for everyone. If you aren't into musicals, stay far away from this one.

I will never understand movies with singing. Singing is for stupid Disney movies for kids. This would have made a terrific movie had it not been ruined by singing. I asked 26 people for there opinions on this movie, 23 of them said the movie was great except for the singing. I agree. The other 3 actually liked the singing. To me it's pointless and unrealistic. I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, but they screwed this one up.

Burton's tics don't overwhelm Sondheim's masterpiece, but this could be better.

Really dont like musical films but the killing is nice

From the mind of Tim Burton, another dark and gloomy movie seemingly to capture every shade of gray in the spectrum. Through this is not Tim Burton's first musical, it is his first live action musical. Sadly, he chose the wrong actors to sing in it. The classic story of the demon barber of fleet street was lost in Burton's style. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter deliver spectacular performances, acting performances. Something new! Unecessary Gore! In all, Tim Burton's film adaptation of the broadway play is mediocre at best. Not a great example of commercialization in broadway musicals, but i guess we'll take what we can get when it comes to pointless movies.

I have always been a fan of musicals whether on Broadway or in film. Unfortunately, while the acting and singing by Johnny Depp was great, everything else wasn't as great.

i just think that tim burton couldve done so much better.
